Nice location, just far enough to not be too busy. Very nice old building with very helpful and friendly staff. Rooms not as luxurious as some hotels but everything you need. I also paid half the price the Hilton was asking. If you want a bed for a night, with free open air parking attached, then it's a bargain. Probably not suited to people looking for a really posh night but that wasn't what I was looking for. Very nice hotel all in all. Definitely worth a look.

This is the second occasion that my wife and I have stayed at the Hillingdon Prince. We find it suits or short stay needs very well. It is only a 2 star hotel but as such fills this rating very well. On both of our visits the rooms have been clean and tidy with towels supplied. The breakfasts are of good quality and quantity, and there are many options on the menu. We have always found the staff to be very helpful, courteous and friendly.

Good points. Plenty of parking and meal not bad although menu not good. 5 meals offered. Cosey bar area but expensive especially soft drinks. Stayed at rooms at the back and as soon as you walk in it smells. Rooms clean but if you are an early bird forget it as you can here tvs etc from both rooms either side of you and corridors very noisey to. Hotel offers tea making facilitys. Had the tea, coffee, milk and sugar but no kettle. Ask reception for one but didnt get one. Wont be going back

Situated a short, 15 minutes or so walk from 'The Oracle' in reading centre, this is a clean and pleasant hotel. Staff are always friendly and helpfull. You must remember that this is a 2star hotel, so do't expect a Mariott or Crowne Plazza, but that said the rooms are clean and functional, with a decent sized kettle (not a small travel kettle as in some other budget hotels!) and microwave in every room. Other budget hotels in reading are either some distance from the town centre, or have limite... Read more

Visited in December. There is only one word for this place: Dirty. The place did not have the cleaners in perhaps since it was built. The place was run down with unidentifiable smells all over the room. I was definitely misguided on booking by inappropriate reviews or really low standard customers. I would score 0 if there was this rating.

I always stay at this Hotel when I'm working. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. Nothing is no problem as they resolve it to their best abilities. If there is a problem they will change rooms which in some cases is an upgrade. The reason I use this Hotel is because of the facilities it has in the rooms to allow you to cookl ready to eat meals in the microwave as well as allowing you to bring in your own alcohol. Also they have discounts arranged with local restaurants and take aways i... Read more

Just what I needed. Quiet and near the university. Very friendly and helpful staff. A short walk away from food outlets and Tesco direct and cash machine. In room microwave and fridge a plus if you don't want to eat out all the time.

We stayed there for 4 days. The room was clean, the "kitchen" corner very useful. Breakfast in a very cozy, bright, warm conservatory and very good food. Friendly staff. The only down side was that our room (528) was quite far from the main entrance. All in all a good experience. Special thanks to Rena, the lovely lady behind the bar. We were very sad and felt low due to a very unhappy event in the family, but Rena managed to cheer us up. Thanks, Rena! With your bubbly personality you brought a... Read more

Good points - welcoming reception staff Bad points - The whole place needs a good clean, there was no where that felt or looked clean, I acknowledge that this is a budget hotel but the least they could do would be to keep it clean. I stayed in room 218 which I think has had an attempt made on making it look modern but there were cobwebs left in full view. The bedding was supposed to be white but it had a grey tinge to it and when I laid down to go to sleep the bedding smelt of stale cigarettes! ... Read more

My partner and I stayed at the Hillingdon Prince to attend a 30th birthday at the nearby Queen's Head pub. We stayed in a double room which was clean and quiet. The staff at the desk were welcoming and professional; we were especially impressed that having left some headphones in our bedroom, they called and posted the item free of charge. It's a charming, no-frills hotel, so don't expect gaudy chandeliers and caviar coming out of the taps, but for a quick stop-off for business or leisure it's g... Read more
