Really faultless for a business meeting. Meeting rooms open out to the river, and views of bridge. My room had a balcony with river views too. Am ashamed to say I had low expectations of a Reading stay... Crowne Plaza blew that away. First class service and amenities.

The hotel is a corporate soulless place, the rooms good sized and comfortable, the hotel staff friendly... But... We booked a quiet room with city view and ended up with view of the roof and satellite dishes and the constant noise of water running and the water cylinder filling up... Not impressed!

The hotel was easy to find, but the car park is not attached and there are only a few disabled spaces immediately outside the entrance. However this is a minor observation as the hotel and its facilities are superb. The staff were friendly and very helpful, our room was lovely,(although overlooked the adjacent car park!) but the provision of a complimentary fluffy white dressing gown made up for this. The bed was sooooo comfortable I did not want to get up! Breakfast was a veritable feast with... Read more

I did not try wifi. It was one of those where you log In and get the standard wifi free but if you need more substantial they have 2 levels. The room was standard and I had no problems at all very comfortable. Included a fridge. There wasn't a 3 pin socket next to the bed. I ate in the restaurant which I enjoyed but was a little pricy. The staff were all very nice but I don't think the kitchen staff paid enough attention to the order instructions. Unless there were language problems. Any how it ... Read more

I have just enjoyed a very brief stay at the Hotel and found it superb. Firstly its location is virtually on the Thames . The staff both on Reception and later in the Bar and informal restaurant were extremely friendly and helpful. I had a wedding reception to attend just across the Caversham Bridge and could see each venue from the other. Whilst Reading itself is a very mixed area, Caversham is most pleasant with numerous Pubs and Bars all within walking distance from each other. The Hotels' ... Read more

My husband an I stayed there for the night after a rugby match in Twickenham. This hotel was in a very convenient location as it was only a 15 minute walk to the train station and into the town centre. The staff were really friendly and its got a lovely lake behind the hotel which we took a walk round in the evening. The breakfast was really nice! A great variety of foods and it was a great quality and really tasty. Our room was nice. The only problem we had with the room is that our shower was ... Read more

We stayed here the night after a rugby match in Twickenham. This is the second time we've done this and is ideal. We left the car at half 8 in the morning in the hotel car park and walked 10 mins to the station. Checked-in at about half 7 the same evening. Good rooms with a great tea tray, quality toiletries, adequate wifi and comfy bed. The room has an ironing board, safe and a hairdryer. Restaurant is good with a nice selection of wines and food - a little corporate but this is the target mark... Read more

I cannot recommend this hotel enough to do it justice! I stayed at the Crowne Plaza Hotel as a party of 4 in 2 double rooms for 1 night and had a fabulous stay. The staff were really helpful, friendly and a credit to the hotel. Our rooms were nicely decorated, the bed very comfortable and we were lucky enough to have a lovely view of the river from our window. The hotel foyer and bar are light, airy and modern, we particularly liked the comfy chairs in the bar which we jumped into for a nig... Read more

Arrived on a Friday evening, went into a lovely room over looking river, changed and went down to the club room, where we had drinks and some wonderful nibbles. I have to say the young Lady that served our drinks ( Maria ) is a real credit to this hotel. Only down fall was in the room we had you could hear the " thump thump thump " of " music" till the small hours!! I used the pool on both mornings which is absolutely fabulous . Will be back in September.

One of the better Crowne Plazas, in my experience - and they can vary quite wildly, usually down to the staff. This one is at Caversham Bridge, in Reading, right next to the River Thames and there are pleasant walks along the riverside from the hotel. It is 10 minutes?? walk from the main railway station, so easy to get to. The hotel is modern in styling and was once, many years ago, a Holiday Inn. It has had the necessary bells and whistles added to make it into a Crowne Plaza and the rooms ... Read more

Pro: The position on the Thames is brilliant. Fabulous walks from the hotel along the river. Get a river view room if you can. Parking is free. Good breakfast. Lovely warm swimming pool. All very clean. Con: The road outside is busy. Rooms not made up until afternoon.

Appeared to be business hotel, staff were Nice and friendly. Our booking included lounge from 6 to 8 p.m. Nibbles and drinks. When we went in was pretty full and girl suggested we take a drink and sit out in other lounge. Defeated purpose so we sat and shared chairs with others, obviously a group. Come close to 8 and girl topped up others drinks from group and they even took unopened drinks with them and food. We didn't get same courtesy. Rest in dining room ect were good. Same food all day. We had an overnight here, arrived quite late and left straight after breakfast. I wished we could have stayed a couple of days as the rooms were very comfortable, the position right next to the river is fantastic and the staff very helpful. Town and restaurants a very short walk away too. The hotel offers nice extras such as your morning paper of choice, aromatherapy kit for a restful sleep and a nespresso pod machine (with 2 capsules). I would happily return to this hotel for a longer stay.

Hotel looks nice and most of the staff were very helpful. Quiet room was the noisiest I have stayed in for some time - even with the A/C turned off. Rumbling sound from somewhere. Supposed to be a quiet room ... NOT. Breakfast was excellent (but no black pudding) but hotel restaurant was quite poor for evening meals, made a hash of a fillet steak which was sinewy and under-cooked (asked for Medium Rare, pink, no blood). It had enough blood oozing out it could have had a pulse. Restaurant is try... Read more

Visited for a family wedding, not held at the Hotel. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. The pool in the leisure centre is amazing, a bit longer than most hotel pools. The rooms are reasonably sized and have iron and ironing board, hair dryer and fridge. Lots of big fluffy towels in the bathroom and towelling bath robes Breakfast both mornings was good, didn't get the cooked to order menu on the Sunday morning though, guess this was because of reduced staffing. Attended an awards function last month and found the Hotel extremely welcoming and comfortable. Superb and ample parking facilities, very central to the town centre. The room was spacious, clean and full of all amenities for an overnight stay. Friendly staff and the breakfast was great quality, it was a bonus that the sun was shining so enjoyed breakfast outside overlooking the river. This would be the first hotel I would look out for if I had to visit Reading again.

Thank you for a lovely stay. Hotel is first class, The room was so comfortable. First hotel for along time that was quite and you have no knowledge of residents in other rooms. Bathroom was a high standard and spotless. Stayed here for 2 nights, the rooms are well appointed and clean. The public areas have lovely, comfortable chairs. The restaurant is more like a bistro but the food is good. Breakfast is a buffet, again plenty of choice. Maria in the restaurant is lovely, well organised & friendly. Good place to stay in an unknown area!

My wife and I stayed here on the night of 30 June 2016. The room and facilities and position were average for a Holiday Inn type hotel and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The assistant Manager Marco was the best part of our stay. Otherwise our experiences were poor to bad and we would rate the hotel 2-3 stars and to be grossly overpriced. The single lift was full of rubbish, it took 20 minutes to bring up our luggage to the room (the hotel was not busy); there was no hot water in the ro... Read more

The CP Reading is an older hotel which is so well placed with the river Thames outside - lovely. With a short walk from the station and London / Heathrow not far away it makes loads of sense as a base to stay. It is in need of a full refit to come into the 21st Century with its rather dated decor but it is clean, very well maintained and the staff are excellent. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. I was upgraded as a Spire Elite member and enjoyed an Executive river view room and with this ca... Read more

I stayed here for a long weekend with my husband whilst visiting relatives. It was a very pleasant stay in a large room with a nice bathroom and plenty of storage. The staff were all helpful and attentive, the room was spotless and the only flaw was that the restaurant had a very limited vegetarian choice. The hotel car park is across a road and through a gate so you may need an umbrella! The hotel is in a good location within easy walking distance of the city centre so getting a meal there was... Check in was prompt and efficient. The basics were explained, i.e. where the lifts were, breakfast times, pool opening times etc. But nothing above and beyond what you would get in a budget hotel. The room itself was a major disappointment. We could have stayed in a premier inn or holiday inn express for the same room and paid half the price. It was cool, if not cold due to the air conditioning. The room had blackout curtains which was useful. The bathroom was tiny, with a shower over the bat... Read more

We visit this hotel for a meal about every six weeks and are generally very pleased with the standard of the food. Last Saturday we ordered bread to start with Balsamic vinegar and oils - four white bread rolls obviously baked straight out of the freezer. We both then had a steak meal with tomatoes and rocket - chips are now an extra charge. For this extra charge we had skin on skinny fries that looked and tasted like oven chips, they are obviously cutting costs where previously the chips were e... Read more

Fantastic venue, Fantastic location, clean and well presented room, great bed and TV, free WIFI for members, courteous and attentive staff, almost everything catered for. So why 3x stars and not 4... Well, it's the little things which spoiled an otherwise great stay. 1. We were told our late check-out was going to be at 3pm and only found out when cleaning staff were knocking on our door, that that was not the case. This is only a review of the restaurant not of the rest of the hotel. We wanted a lunch in the cool of air conditioning as it was a rare hot day in England. We ordered two lunches. Both arrived in good time but both were wrong and were sent back. My chicken was dry and overcooked. My wife's meal pretty uninspiring. The hotel did discount the meal as an apology but the meal was also marred by workmen taking apart some steps in the restaurant so a nice quiet lunch was neither nice nor quiet.
