Arrived early evening after horrendous trip of over 6 hours driving through stormy weather. Lisa the receptionist made is feel very welcome and arranged for the Chef to come and prepare an evening meal for us which was great and we were the only people in the restaurant. After telling her we were travelling to another Hotel in the area for a further 2 nights in order to attend a family funeral she offered to match the price we had been quoted by them. This meant we did not have to pack the follo... Read more

On arrival the receptionist was very welcoming, the room was acceptable for a nights sleep. Unfortunately as i was traveling on business the wifi didn't allow me to work on my company's VPN so i was unable to work and for that reason i won't be staying again. I didn't eat dinner so i can't comment on this but the breakfast was fine. The decor is a bit dated but the staff again are warm and welcoming.

There are far better, more modern places in the area. I'd recommend trying somewhere else before staying there again. Nothing that a serious overhaul couldn't fix but it looks like that's something it hasn't had in a very long time, both outside and in. I didn't eat there so can't comment on the food or the service.

i arived at this hotel after a 3 hour drive out of london, and was amazed at the welcome, walking into the lobby to the reception , where i was met by a lady who blanked me for a good 5 minutes, she eventually gave me a room key and told me the room no, then carried on at her computer, i guess doing important stuff , i had to ask where the room was, anyway got to the room, looks like something out of a horror film, decor was 80s i guess, the bed was that hard it was like the foundations to th... I booked this hotel as it was round the corner from an interview I had arranged. Plenty of parking spaces, very friendly staff, hotel looked nice inside however I didn't use the facilities due to pre interview prep. The train track behind wasn't a problem as I tuned out of the noise quickly. I'd happily stay here again if i needed a hotel here again for a quick stay.

Me and my partner was attending a hotel so we luckily only stayed one night. The hotel was clean, but very chilly. Upon arrival I found the female receptionist quite rude. We were in a rush as we had just travelled 1 hour from the ceremony and needed to get to the reception. We asked the receptionist if she could call us a taxi. She told us that it would be a charge of £20 just to get the taxi from the town to the hotel and then the fair on top (for a 10 minute journey) and we would have to w... Read more

This had to be the worst hotel I have stayed at! I arrived to an unhappy receptionist who greated us with 'what' a good 15 minutes of us standing there. The rooms were so awful it looked like a punishment big brother would dish out! The carpet was so worn you could see the floor boards. The hole in the wall and damage was shocking and all night we had a fire door banging! After a wedding we returned to a Locked reception with no one there! After banging to get in....at 1030pm the receptionist ... Read more

I stayed over one night when traveling for business and had a really poor experience so I am definitely never coming back Room was tiny and it looked like it hadn't been refurbished in a very long while, the pillow/bed smelled funny, which made me feel very uncomfortable about sleeping in that bed. On top of that, it was quite noisy and could here every single guest walking down the corridor, opening the door or the neighbour flushing the toilet. The receptionist was quite friendly, but exper... Read more

Stayed at this place for two nights. Had dinner there once: wasn't bad. The hotel was understaffed, the sole person responsible for the hotel was on his phone a lot. Wifi was slow and intermittent. The place is between a busy road and a railway line. The trains were relatively silent, road traffic wasn't, but may have been due to the room (room 1) which was close to the road. Not good value for money.

The staff were very friendly and everything I asked for was done without a fuss, but most days they only had one member of staff on who was running the bar reception and the restaurant single handedly. I visited the restaurant on the hottest day of the year and the air conditioning was blowing out hot air so I asked if they could turn it on cold and was told that it was as cold as it would go but the owner wasn't interested in getting it fixed. So I sat in a backing hot conservatory waiting fo... Read more

It's not a hotel you're going to stay in for your weeks holiday, but it's perfectly fine for a nights sleep Friendly staff. Smiles and good nature cost nothing but are much appreciated - well done staff Plus, who wouldn't appreciate a bit of Van Gogh on the bedroom walls?? Lovely

I was attending a wedding at a venue nearby and booked this place for an overnight stay, mainly because of the inexpensive price. I was a little bit concerned by some of the negative reviews on here, but my fears were completely unfounded. I checked in at around 11pm, there was only one member of staff present who was doubling as receptionist and bartender, and he was friendly and very helpful. I had a nice chat with him over a pint before I went to bed. The room was fresh, clean and fully equip... Read more

The room was comfortable and the breakfast was fine, but this hotel was our stopover for only one night, so if you are in the area it is alright for one night if you are visiting the UKWCT nearby. Otherwise it is not for a few days stop. We found there were a lot of work people staying over because of their long term work contracts. The hotel has no evening entertainment or recreation.

My colleagues and I stayed at this hotel for 3 weeks because of work, whilst we found some of the rooms to be in need of a bit of repair i.e cracked floor tiles, We over looked this because of the staff at the hotel, from day one they were very friendly, welcoming and approachable, nothing was too much trouble at all. Over the 3 weeks that we stayed there we got to know the staff. Anton and Sinead were simply brilliant and attentive despite working long hours and covering the Bar, Reception and ... Read more

The staff were very helpful, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Good value hotel and the room was small but comfortable. The only down side was that breakfast was not served as nicely as it could have been and if you are a late riser then you will find the bacon looks dry and it is served in big silver containers which are kept warm, but does not look very appealing.

Friendly staff upon arrival with prompt service. Good size clean room with ensuite. Dated decore but clean with the usual tv, kettle etc. Quiet locations with good parking facilities. Carpet is worn along with damaged furniture. The bed is very uncomfortable and gave me a bad back as you can feel the springs, not good for a hotel. Positive: friendly staff Negative: worn carpet and uncomfortable bed Will i be back? No i cancelled all my future bookings

Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. I stay In hotels every week of the year. Rude woman on reception when I checked in. No one on reception when I needed to check out at 06:30. Rooms smell of builders. No room to move as bed and furniture crammed in. One pot of milk to make tea. Would avoid like the plague

Single night stay, with family staying in 3 rooms, to attend a funeral. The rooms are basic, but for a single night has everything you need. The staff we encountered were friendly, courteous and efficient. We dined in the restaurant, as a group of 5, and everyone was happy with the quality and size of portion served. The breakfast was all you would need, with enough choice for everyone. It is a basic hotel, but met all our requirements, so would recommend for anyone for a single night stay, not ... Read more

Small, clean, comfortable and quiet room. Decent sized bathroom/shower. Tea/coffee making facilities. Friendly staff. Not sure what people are moaning about on here. If you wanna pay £170.00+ a night for room only there's a couple of 5* places just up the road.
