We stayed at this hotel as a group of couples. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly however the rooms were quite small. The hotel also took the payment for the room twice from 3 parties of our group and then advised they couldn't cancel these payments therefore meaning we were left with two payments pending for one room.

We had a very small room that didnt matter as we were only there one night. Over looking the harbour lovely. The room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good. Only down side was we arrived early and asked if we could check in we were told our room was not ready and to come back later. I think we should have been offered the lounge to wait in and perhaps the offer of tea. The staff were very friendly.

We had a suite, with balcony, overlooking harbour. Great location for views. Balcony was very narrow. Small sofa, loads of room. Large four poster bed, very comfortable and feather/down pillows and duvet. (my partner allergic to feathers and his pillows were changed immediately). However, furniture fairly old-fashioned ('quirky' I think is used these days). Wardrobe was extremely old with cloth lining inside - not very pretty! However the tea/coffee facilities in room very good. Milk, coffee, var... Read more

The waiter serving breakfast had a streaming cold and it was blatantly obvious to all guests. He should not have been in contact with guests and in particular should not have been serving guests food while in this infectious state. Breakfast itself was pretty basic, when asked for scrambled egg on toast, was told I can get the toast myself by putting sliced bread in the toaster on the nearby table.

Stayed one night and had a great time. We were up in he crow's nest, which would suit older people as at least four floors to climb. Great view once we got there. Staff very helpful and attentive. A breath of fresh (sea) air after formula hotels around the world! You should go and stay there!

A lovely, welcoming hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The room was at the front of the hotel with a great view over the marina. It was a cabin double room, a bit on the small size but very clean and had everything needed with a big enough bathroom which had an effective rain shower and lovely thick towels. The bed was very comfortable with feather duvet and pillows. There was no wardrobe in this small room - just some shelves built in on one side of the bed and a clothes rail incorpora... Read more

We stayed here just after Christmas this year. The hotel lived up to all the positive reviews in almost every aspect. The Breakfast was very good the hotel was quirky and interesting. The issue we had was as a family party of four (all adults) we did not imagine we would be staying in different buildings, with a short walk between them. This was not an issue other than the first room in main hotel was at the rear on the ground floor. It was noisy as the car park was outside the window and staff ... Read more

Lovely position overlooking the harbour, but parking very difficult. Room and bathroom very clean but very small; extractor fan ran noisily for almost an hour after switching off. Breakfast choices and food good. We were advised not to arrive for breakfast at 9.00 because 'everybody comes at that time' so first day (Sunday) we went at 8.20 and had to queue for 10 minutes before a table was ready; staff were very efficient and friendly. Enjoyed the best room in the hotel: on the first floor very spacious and with a private balcony overlooking the harbour which always has something going on. The hotel is a real gem full of artistic memorabilia and its unspoilt stairways and landings add to the charm. Enjoy in particular the downstairs snug room which is full of history, or sample the roaring fire in the main lounge which is full of more antiquaria to revel in. Service was excellent and the breakfast a joy overlooking the harbour... Read more

A nice hotel just a little walk from the centre with wonderful views if you ask for a sea view. Breakfast is very good and if you get chance the linked restaurant does very good meals. The room I was in was in the building adjacent the main hotel and although the room was a little cramped overall ir was great value for money.

Lovely view over the harbour and the room was very clean and comfy, but absolutely tiny with a very small en-suite. Fine for a couple of nights but there was really very little space for a suitcase (we put ours under the bed). Breakfast was lovely but there is a shortage of tables so although we got lucky and didn't have to wait in the morning, other guests weren't so fortunate and had to wait 10 mins for tables to become available.

We stayed for two nights at the Royal Harbour. A quirky old hotel and our room had fantastic views of the Royal harbour especially when sitting on the balcony. The hotel is around 200 years old so lots of character but it could do with a "make over" as it's becoming a little tired and grubby. The location is superb within walking distance of all of Ramsgate's attractions We would definitely stay again without hesitation but the hotel needs to be tidied around the edges to make it top notch.

made to feel very welcome at reception and the young lady was extremely helpful in showing us to our room, which pleasantly was an upgrade from a junior suite to the oak suite, which was lovely with a massive four poster bed and a wonderful view of the harbour, breakfast was lovely with a good choice of full English and a selection of meats, cheeses and cereals, once again the staff were very pleasant and helpful.I am Surprised that this little gem has only a two star rating as the service and b... We had a lovely lunch in the hotel's restaurant, The Royal Harbour's in-house restaurant, situated in the Empire Room, below the ground floor. It is a very welcoming environment, traditional and unique with flagstone floor, rugs and numerous pictures and artefacts, creating a rather special atmosphere and certainly adding to the enjoyment of the occasion. Our booking coincided with the arrival of a new chef and his team who had taken over a few weeks before. They had introduced a different menu a... Read more

Stayed in the Junior suite for one evening, slept like a baby (apart from being woken up by drunks on the street a few times but it was a Friday night and we had the doors wide open for the spectacular view so happy to suck that up) and thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast. Unassuming from the street but full of character and quirks. Would stay again and make more use of the vinyl collection.

We have traveled widely throughout the world and stayed in countless hotels ranging from budget to 5 star and I have to say this was one of the worse hotels we have ever stayed in. At £200 per night for the Royal Harbour Suit I was expecting a degree of luxury. What we got was a small, shabby, grubby room in an equally grubby hotel. Granted the staff did their best but even this was way below par.It is an inescapable fact that this "seaside boarding house" is in serious need of a lick of paint.... Read more

We stayed here with a very last minute booking, so got a decent price. Sometimes the hotels are a little lacking, and are reduced for a reason. This hotel however was really great. The hotel had a few communal rooms downstairs, but we're really cosy with old paintings and local artefacts. It has a small garden too. There are "honesty bars", where you write what you take, and they charge you later. The hotel was very clean, both rooms and communal areas. The breakfast was very good, with a dece... Read more

All in all a good hotel with quirky features and excellent service BUT it is in serious need of a good clean and refurb. The carpets on the stairs and landing are threadbare and filth, walls in rooms and general areas desperately need a paint and odd jobs such as fixing handles to wall, etc need competing. Once done will be a real gem. Parking can be an issue and stairs are plentiful and steep so if you have walking difficulties I would be a low floor.

Got to this hotel and had booked two parking spaces in July , only one available , We went up to our rooms and there were bags of dirty linen along the passage ways that were quite frankly a health a safety issue . When I got to my room it was dirty . The Window sills were thick with dust and the back of my toilet was filthy had to clean it myself. All up the stair cases were dirty and fingers marks all over the doors . When we went to breakfast this morning , no tables and had to stand and wait... Read more

The communal areas are all cosy and nicely decorated. The record player and albums to play is a lovely touch. The breakfast is great, buffet for cereal , fruit etc with tasty cooked breakfast and the guy who waits the tables and is on the reception desk is wonderful. The room I was in was a cabin single at the top, not great if you are really tall but tastefully decorated in a sea theme and clean with kettle etc. Road noise a bit noisy with single glazed sash window but a fab view of Ramsgate Ha... My wife??s first words to me as we entered our room were ??Aren??t you a bit disappointed??? I was. We shouldn??t have been because it was the Royal Harbour Suite facing the port, with balcony and two sets of French windows. Several reviewers have commented on the need for a general refurbishment of the hotel and this room and its balcony should certainly be included. A lovely small Hotel, (yes it may be a little bit shabby in places but it is a chic kind of shabby....) the staff are welcoming and friendly and can't do enough to help you. The breakfast is excellent and we never had a problem parking outside the Hotel. They are very dog friendly and even laid up a table in the lounge so we could have breakfast without having to leave our little dog in the room. Thank you Royal Harbour.....see you again soon!

This hotel is such a joy - and it's the touches, the decor, the service and those little things that make the stay. The rooms are fun, quirky and great - you have to stay here for the charm. The setting is just perfect, and to relax and meet new people of an evening in the lounge with the real fire and the vinyl rolling never fails to make a stay here a real joy. Well done team - never lose that charm. Always look forward to a stay here :)

You can keep your soulless premier inns, this place is great. Yep, maybe a lick of paint here or there, but it's end of season and it adds to it's wonderful character! Free parking right outside and the harbour view from my big window was perfect for a normally land-locked guy, loved it. Not the biggest en suite, but perfectly adequate. Because the hotel was busy, my single room wasn't facing the sea and was actually the smallest room I've ever stayed in (a bit like I'd imagine a ship's cabin to be) however it was clean, cosy and comfortable. My full English breakfast was great. There was even fresh fruit available, including local figs. The staff were friendly, helpful and polite. The location was perfect, too. This hotel was recommended to me by friends who live in Ramsgate and I was sad to have to give them negative feedback about our stay there. We were given a very small room at the back of the hotel, furnished with old chipped and broken furniture ( a chair had broken rails and the bedside lamp was not in working order) and only a small rack on the wall upon which to hang our clothes of which half the hooks were broken. Although my room was at the top of the house, watch the stairs as these old buildings do not have the best stairs access for less fit people, but it was worth it for the views over the harbour.
