The hotel is being 'refurbished'. In reality this means rooms and corridors are merely being painted and new carpets laid down. It still has the single-glazed metal framed windows meaning the constant roar of traffic is ever present, and on my recent stay there was a puddle of condensation on the window sill in the morning. The rooms still have very dated furniture, my very small bathroom had mould around every (old) fixture. very little in the way of toiletries too. The small television offers ... Read more

The hotel was brilliant start to finish. They really did care about your experience and made sure everything met and exceeded expectations. Rare in these times. I would say it was better than than the Marriott and a thousand times better than 'good old premier inn'. Definitely recommend.

I have just returned from an overnight stay and one day meeting at the Holiday Inn West. Bedroom Lovely refurbished room. Light, bright and contemporary. Excellent large desk to work at. Lots of sockets with built-in usb slots for your phone, iPad etc. Not a huge selection of toiletries for a business hotel just shower gel and shampoo. Standard tea/coffee but no biscuit. Breakfast was very good with lots of choice and good quality food and very helpful and polite staff. Had dinner on one night but found the pizza truley awful so didn't bother again. I've stayed here before and wrote another review to mention that the lobby, corridors and rooms have been newly renovated, which has spruced up the hotel considerably. Stayed here for 3 nights on business. I had to wait while my room was 'checked'. Once in everything seemed fine. However, once I entered the bathroom I spotted very short, black hairs on the floor. I would have overlooked this but I had had to wait for everything to be checked over so I mentioned it to the receptionist. To be fair, the duty manager went immediately to clear up but my point is that this should never have happened. On my third day, a bathrobe appeared but the cellophane wrapper ... Read more

Arrived at the reception and we were greeted by a very friendly lady at the reception. We got to our room and were more than surprised as to how spacious, bright, and welcoming the room was. We have stayed in several IHG hotels and they have always been comfortable and clean. But this room was refreshing. My wife had to change the hairdryer and was asked by the lady at the reception desk how we found the facilities in our room as they had recently been refurbished. This was noticeable, well done... The hotel is 5 min with the taxi from the train station, the rooms are confortable (but if you get a room with view to the main road a bit loud) but all in all very happy with the room, bed was really confortable. You can use the gym during your stay, gym is very basic but sufficient for a few days. The restaurant is a bit overpriced but the food was good and also breackfast was good. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

I stayed here with some colleagues for one night prior to an early business meeting and its OK, nothing special but adequate for a short stay. Refurbished rooms are nice enough although the bathrooms still look dated and the bath taps/shower controls were broken (a colleague had the same issue) All the staff were frinedly and helpful though and thats always the case. Summary is, its OK, stayed in worse!

Firstly ,the staff in the bar/restaurant are top class so very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast. rooms are ok, no fridge in room which was disappointing, when asked why, i was laughed at?? Reception staff were the rudest people I have ever come across in all my 30years of travelling. They all need training in customer service. A group of us who hadn't seen each other used the Holiday Inn for a catch up meeting, meal and a few drinks. Hotel was good, the room was good, the food was very good. Just don't expect a large swimming pool if you look at the hotel pictures, it's more a plunge pool. That said we still enjoyed the hotel

Doesn't quite deserve the 4 star rating I've given it, but mostly the staff in other areas of the hotel were helpful and obliging. Food in the dining room was pretty basic and the wine was poor value. Highlight of the stay was the early morning dip in the pool. Breakfast was not particularly memorable apart from my son's underdone poached eggs.

This Holiday Inn is a great place to stay. Everywhere was extremely clean and the room was very modern and stylishly decorated with an immaculately clean bathroom with good shower. We attended a family wedding on the weekend at this holiday Inn. The place is nice and open with ample parking. The room was beautiful decorated. Overall the hotel looked nice just wish the staff were a bit more friendlier. We could exit the car park with the code given so wrong asked at reception who just kept giving the same number rather than coming out.
