We had a garden room with harbour view. This was good as we had use of sun loungers etc. from our room. The room was spotless, well maintained, tastefully decorated, with good quality furniture. Some might find it on the small size, but as we spent time in the garden, not a problem for us. As well as a quality tea/coffee tray, free bottled water was provided, which is always nice. We loved how the bathroom was decorated. The shower was over the bath, of note was how powerful it was, Al... Read more

The Metropole is the Best of the best . We have stayed here many times and have never been disappointed. Everything about this hotel is fantastic . Starting with the staff , Everyone of them deserves a hand clap for all the effort they put in to making your stay one to remember. The rooms always well appointed and clean. The Food is out of this world and gives Rick Steins a run for its money.Thank you the Metropole we look forward to seeing you in September.

The view is stunning and the staff are really lovely and helpful. I love padstow and I was a bit surprised by the General up keep of the hotel, the small detail is important. At first glance our room looked very nice and it was - but is was not clean, the paint work was dirty , tea and coffee splashes and the bin was disgusting. Which is a shame because otherwise it's a nice hotel .

Stayed here For 3 nights, cost nearly £800. The room was nice but despite being 2 adults and our 9 year old In room...she obviously wasn't expected to have a drink, only 2 cups to have a drink left, only 2 bottles of bottled water, only 2 packets of biscuits. Shame, would have thought if 3 have paid 3 would be accommodated for, for a room refreshment. You get a £30 dinner allowance, but take into account the main fillet beef is £30. You then have to pay extra for a starter or main. When you'v... Read more

Very difficult to review this hotel. Its in an excellent position & has a very good restaurant but is just not up to the standard it aspires to, despite trying very hard. As always its the little things that matter : - quite welcoming front desk including a phone call to our room after a quarter of an hour to ask if we were OK - however, when they phoned us prior to our visit ("courtesy call") they offered an evening meal option but when we accepted they said the first night there was a large p... My husband and I stayed in this imposing hotel in June and the weather was glorious. The hotel is lovely if a little tired but we thought that this only added to its charm! Our room (superior double with sea view 104) was huge, beautiful updated bathroom separate dressing room and huge bedroom with French doors onto a lawned area overlooking the Camel estuary. We stayed here for two nights in June and were disappointed. The whole place is very tired and needs a complete refurbishment. The bed was nearly in a state of collapse and very uncomfortable, wallpaper was peeling off the ceiling in our room and in some of the public areas, there was mold in the shower, the carpets were badly worn etc etc. The staff were a mixed bag - the barman was very friendly and entertaining, the staff at breakfast were really nice but the receptionist was trying to push d... We were staying in Padstow and on a miserable drizzly morning we popped in for coffee. Sitting in the lounge facing the sea was very relaxing . We then ordered a snack lunch . Which was eventually delivered and was ok although why it took 15 minutes for the roll to join the soup I do not know. Tithe staff were welcoming and very friendly . The hotel was clean but rather tired. The toilets are below the ground floor which could be awkward although the staircase is wide and gracious and a pleasure... Read more

Food in restaurant was superb as were the views. Stayed in room 26 which has dual aspect views of town and estuary and a roof terrace, wonderful. We stayed for 3 nights with my in-laws and my mum and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff were all very helpful and attentive, without being intrusive. The bar staff knew all they needed to about the speciality gins and what enhanced the flavors etc. This was a big hit for us as a family of gin drinkers! The rooms were of an excellent standard, very comfortable and clean. The food was delicious, every meal we had there was fabulous!!

This was a special trip to celebrate our anniversary. Within minutes of arriving the reception staff ( older lady with blonde hair- annoyingly didn't get her name ) was asking me for full payment of two night stay. Style wise yes it is an old, traditional hotel and some areas do look rather dated. I stayed here many times with my parents when young and have been back since with my husband now in our 40‚??s. So my expectations are tinged wth sentiment. Value wise, yes it did seem expensive in July, (but not too bad with the special offer break!) as we are used to paying significantly less, out of season.
