Looking for a 2 night break and spoke to Emma (front of house manager) who offered a reasonably priced 2 nights b&b with dinner on 1 night. As we have dogs we were given an upgrade to a garden suite. This was a lovely room, huge bed and loads of space, great bathroom with walk in shower and a separate dressing room. Breakfast was delivered to the room and good quality. The dinner was excellent and reasonably priced for both food and wine. We will certainly return. The only small negative was t... Read more

Beautiful hotel with stunning views from our room and the bar and restaurant. We stayed 3 nights from 30th December and all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location and the staff made it a relaxing place to spend the New Year.

We stayed at the Metropole over the New Year with their New Year Package. From the moment we walked through the door the staff were wonderful, making us feel at home and very welcome. In fact if the review were on the staff only it would be an easy five star plus. We booked a standard room on the third floor with sea views. The views were lovely looking over the harbour and the town. The package was ‚??all inclusive‚?? with regard to eating in the restaurant although for the evening meals on the... Read more

Stayed for the new year with a family group, we all enjoyed it. The food was very good throughout and the pasty making was most enjoyable a great idea for an activity. The location is superb, easy walk into the town. The views are great always something different to watch with the changing weather and tides. Nice lot of space to be able to play cards. I have never seen as many dogs staying at the hotel, obviously dog friendly although none of our party had a dog. Not a problem as they were all s... Read more

I have been visiting Padstow since 1960 and watched England beat Portugal in 1966 to reach the World Cup Final and Neil Armstrong land on the moon in 1969 in the Metropole's TV lounge but never stayed here. Over the years the hotel has looked more and more dated from the outside so it was with certain reservations we decided to stay. From the outside it still looks as though it needs some TLC and the car park needs retarmacing, inside it looks a little dated with the lay out of the formal rooms... Read more

We stayed two nights on December 1st and 2nd, 2016 for the Padstow Food Festival. We were impressed with the staff from the moment we arrived, who were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Soon after we checked into our room, the phone rang, and it was one of the receptionists calling to ask if all was OK. This is rare, even in more expensive hotels. We had room 33, which was part seaview and part country. Some parts of the hotel are a little dated, but in decorative terms everything was ... Read more

We stayed here a few weeks ago for the murder mystery weekend as we thought it sounded fun. And it was! We had a lovely couple of nights. We upgraded our room and had a lovely sea view room on the top floor. The bathroom was lovely with a separate bath and shower and the bed was a super king size, which was brilliant as we have one at home and find it difficult to sleep in anything smaller! The food was delicious and all the staff were friendly, polite and very accommodating. The only problem w... Read more

My visit this time was a much better experience than last time. We were allocated a "Garden Room" which was larger and a lot quieter than our previous experience in rooms higher in the building. It also has a pleasant outlook over the estuary to the village of Rock. We were attending a private function so I cannot comment on the restaurant, however the food served to us at dinner was excellent. Also there was a good choice at breakfast. They still charge an excess for settling your bill by credi... Read more

Spent 2 nights at this hotel. Old hotel built in the early 1900's. Nice ambience and warm Christmassy public rooms. Reception staff friendly. Lovely view from dining/ lounge area. We have stayed before paying twice as much and definitely not worth the full cost on its website. However, on a deal seemed reasonable given the location. 5 minute easy walk to harbour. 2 minutes to Rick Steins restaurant. This was pretty empty so guess that no need to book at this time of year! The hotel needs a g... Read more
