It is difficult to exaggerate. This is one of the finest hotels/restaurants in the world that excels in every way. The service is outstanding as is the food and accommodation. The misture of typical Oxfor historic charm and modern amenities is charming.

It is expensive but worth it. The property is beautiful and the rooms really chic. The residents private library with outside space is a real gem and tranquil. The breakfasts are outstanding quality and it's the best room service breakfast we have had anywhere. The restaurant however is disappointing. (See separate review)

It was a work trip for 5 of us but we wanted a degree of comfort and some fun. Old Parsonage was great, we took a private room (very pretty in the original part of the building) for our meetings and were looked after very well. We had lunch in the restaurant and all enjoyed it. Food and service were great but I particularly remember the wonderful collection of paintings covering almost every surface. Some of them really very good. Room was very comfortable, clean and quiet (in a relatively moder... Read more

Beautifully decorated but comes at a high price. Breakfast is served to you rather than a buffet so a bit slow. One of our party had to send it back as it was an incorrect order. Paintings adorn the walls but not really my taste . Nice bar with friendly staff there.reception staff helpful. Very central, easy to walk to the Ashmolian museum and university.

Everyone was very helpful in providing directions, arranging tours, dining suggestions etc. We had a small room but it was very adequate and the public areas were nice and very quiet for reading etc. There is so much history and charm here. It so fits with the Oxford surroundings. We had drinks at the bar on two nights and the staff was extremely friendly.

Just came for dinner. Food was well cooked. Felt the bar snacks could be better presented, however service excellent. We stayed for dinner and had a really well cooked meal. The food is expensive but felt that reflected in the quality of the food. Good wines. Charming, pretty old place. Has a lovely courtyard which is delightful.

Lovely location, close to all of the sights and experiences of Oxford, this old building looks part of the historic Oxford experience. I stayed here over 30 years ago, and returned to celebrate my nephews 21st birthday. It's quite different! My room was cosy but very well appointed with a tiny balcony which would be lovely in sunny weather. I was really comfortable and touches such as chilled water and turndown service much appreciated. I am a shower person so the super walk in shower with over... Read more

We visited the Old Parsonage Hotel for tea for my Father in Law's 80th birthday. Although the weather was cold and wet, it was very warm and welcoming inside. (There was also a lovely sheltered garden covered in wisteria, but it was not the weather!). We had tea with a mixture of savoury and sweet scones, pates, sandwiches and cakes, all beautifully presented. The staff were very helpful and it was a very pleasant experience.

I always feel as though I am coming home when I stay here- the named parking space, the welcome and recognition at reception, the rooms ( especially when I have my own small garden area) - I want to extend special thanks to Emily for going out of her way to find me an appropriate room that I could afford, at late notice. But that's the way it is here, everyone just can't do enough for you.

Unfortunately we only had one night in the Old Parsonage Hotel as it was a lovely place to stay. The décor is very tasteful and we really loved the upstairs library and roof garden. We did not eat dinner in the hotel but breakfast was lovely and afternoon tea looked amazing. All of the staff were exceptionally helpful and pleasant and really went out of their way to ensure that we had a great stay. We had asked for car parking and there was a named space reserved for us on our arrival - a n... Read more

The Old Parsonage Hotel was so lovely. We were lucky enough to be there while the wisteria was blooming on the front of the building. Very nice outside patio for good weather days. Cozy inside and the rooms are a good size. You can easily walk to the city center and restaurants for breakfast and dinner.

Excellent hotel - commencing with the named parking, fantastic room with a beautifully designed bathroom - I have travelled widely, and this was a really really pleasing bathroom. The hotel is immaculately clean, and the staff go out of their way to be of assistance. I recommend the hotel.

I had a wonderful and relaxing (although short) stay at the Old Parsonage Hotel. I was traveling with a group of coworkers and in town for a very short stay. The hotel was able to take our bag in prior to checking in which was very convenient as we did not want to take luggage to our meeting. Check-in was a breeze. They were able to accommodate my request for a room with a bathtub. The room was clean and quiet. The bathtub was fantastic. The only issue that I had was with the heat. I wa... Read more

I would have given it four stars had the food been good but sadly the lamb was very sub-standard, gristly and lacking flavour. That said, it was dealt with very professionally by the waiter so no complaints there. My wife's fish was very nice and we enjoyed cocktails in the bar beforehand. We were also given the wrong room to begin with - room 8 which was very small and had no bath and when I went to reception they took us to the right room (18) which was lovely. The bathroom was very nice and ... Read more

I spent 2 nights here in May on business and the room and food were pretty faultless. It's a lovely hotel with original features and a very inviting reading room. The restaurant service was great and the small but cosy bar grand for a pre dinner drink. Reception can be a bit hectic at peak times but guess that's part of being popular

Took my Mum and Dad here for their 70th birthdays and had a really lovely relaxing afternoon. Afternoon tea was delicious with wonderful sandwich fillings and beautiful cakes and scones. We ended up sitting in the library upstairs which was wonderful and quiet with really lovely attentive staff. Thanks to The Old Parsonage! We'll be back!

Took my mother-in-law here for afternoon tea. The sandwiches and cakes were delicious and the quiet surroundings was exactly what we had hoped for. However, the level of service wasn't at the level that I'd expect from the hotel. Service was slow, lacked attention, and despite being reassured about our requirements when booking, they had been forgotten when we arrived. We enjoyed our afternoon, and would probably return, but one more person serving, and better liaison between reservations and th... Read more

We went to the Old Parsonage Hotel with my family, my wife and my daughter. We were there around 6 pm and we were quite tired traveling from Istanbul. I thought it is a nice Hotel. But I had one of the worst experience in my life. I requested an extra bed for my daughter. The responsible person in the reception asked for extra £ 60. I negotiated and she did agree to waive the extra charge. Than I made the payment for the room. After I made the payment she told me that the room is too small for... Read more

We had a lovely stay at the Old Parsonage Hotel in June. We arrived in the rain before the room was ready, borrowed an umbrella, and headed out to explore Oxford. The hotel called when the room was ready, and we headed back to relax and enjoy the luxurious room and wonderful bath. We'll stay there again when we visit Oxford.

My family of 5 stayed here for a night in June. We had 2 rooms with the 3 kids in a larger one. unfortunately the rooms weren't inter connecting nor were they next to each other but that was fine.it's a little out of the main thoroughfare but it's not a long walk into the main city centre. The free tour was a nice touch and did give us a good introduction to Oxford.Rooms were comfortable but being on the ground floor right next to the car park wasn't the greatest. Historic hotel yet our guestroom was tastefully decorated with attention to modern British detail.A truly special first floor library with Terrace was added recently. So happy we ordered breakfast room service because it was a delight to sit in the linen ropes and eat off the finest china! Antique bikes are available for guests to use and were a fun way to explore Oxford! Our visit was in March and we hope to return one day.

Stayed here for our golden wedding anniversary!! A pricey hotel,. We spent 3 nights here but though they knew it was our golden wedding anniversary we did not feel very special. The staff were friendly and helpful in every way But I feel this hotel is overpriced! The narrow stairs cd b a problem fr seniors but the staff will bring cases etc to rooms! Out room was small but bathroom was a dream! It is in a great location and near all the places of interest,

Hi Rankinfoodie here. This is my idea of a good hotel. Small, old building but great modern design inside. We splashed out and booked a suite. Great attention to detail in the room. My only complaint would be the minimalist storage space and a bath too long for short people. Very unobtrusive but attentive staff. Good small bar, lunch, afternoon tea, and a good restaurant. Good location and all of Oxford in walking distance. Small car park but they will reserve a space. Will be back.

I stayed here with my eldest daughter for one night on the hottest days of the year so far. The hotel is ideally situated for exploring Oxford and ideal for popping back for a rest or a shower. The room was smallish but beautifully decorated and furnished and the bathroom was well equipped with excellent plumbing. The staff were friendly and helpful. The highlight for both of us was having breakfast in the small garden in the sunshine.

This is a high-end property. Beautiful suite, lovely furniture, milk in the fridge for your fancy in-room coffee maker, amazing room-service breakfast, lovely courtyard access. We really enjoyed our stay (even though I find Oxford to be a pretty blah town, since you can't access any of the colleges without $ and a guide). I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Had lunch following daughter's graduation so review only relates to the restaurant. It was a beautiful day so were able to sit outside on the terrace. The food was delicious and the service exemplary. We have eaten there several times and have never been disappointed - must be the best in Oxford or one of them. If the hotel is anything like as good I cannot wait to spend a night there.

We stayed a night at Superior Deluxe Room in December 2015, and I liked it a lot. There was no elevator. So, it was a bit of work to carry suitcases up to the room. (They offered to carry for us, but we just did it on our own.) The guest room was not so big but nicely decorated. Bathroom was quite spacious, nice and new, but when we used a bathtub, water slowly leaked from the bottom of the tub. It was not too bad, but we had to put a towel on the floor so we wouldn't fall.
