It is difficult to exaggerate. This is one of the finest hotels/restaurants in the world that excels in every way. The service is outstanding as is the food and accommodation. The misture of typical Oxfor historic charm and modern amenities is charming.

It is expensive but worth it. The property is beautiful and the rooms really chic. The residents private library with outside space is a real gem and tranquil. The breakfasts are outstanding quality and it's the best room service breakfast we have had anywhere. The restaurant however is disappointing. (See separate review)

It was a work trip for 5 of us but we wanted a degree of comfort and some fun. Old Parsonage was great, we took a private room (very pretty in the original part of the building) for our meetings and were looked after very well. We had lunch in the restaurant and all enjoyed it. Food and service were great but I particularly remember the wonderful collection of paintings covering almost every surface. Some of them really very good. Beautifully decorated but comes at a high price. Breakfast is served to you rather than a buffet so a bit slow. One of our party had to send it back as it was an incorrect order. Paintings adorn the walls but not really my taste . Nice bar with friendly staff there.reception staff helpful. Very central, easy to walk to the Ashmolian museum and university.

Everyone was very helpful in providing directions, arranging tours, dining suggestions etc. We had a small room but it was very adequate and the public areas were nice and very quiet for reading etc. There is so much history and charm here. It so fits with the Oxford surroundings. We had drinks at the bar on two nights and the staff was extremely friendly.

Just came for dinner. Food was well cooked. Felt the bar snacks could be better presented, however service excellent. We stayed for dinner and had a really well cooked meal. The food is expensive but felt that reflected in the quality of the food. Good wines. Charming, pretty old place. Has a lovely courtyard which is delightful.

Lovely location, close to all of the sights and experiences of Oxford, this old building looks part of the historic Oxford experience. I stayed here over 30 years ago, and returned to celebrate my nephews 21st birthday. It's quite different! My room was cosy but very well appointed with a tiny balcony which would be lovely in sunny weather. I was really comfortable and touches such as chilled water and turndown service much appreciated. We visited the Old Parsonage Hotel for tea for my Father in Law's 80th birthday. Although the weather was cold and wet, it was very warm and welcoming inside. (There was also a lovely sheltered garden covered in wisteria, but it was not the weather!). We had tea with a mixture of savoury and sweet scones, pates, sandwiches and cakes, all beautifully presented. The staff were very helpful and it was a very pleasant experience.

I always feel as though I am coming home when I stay here- the named parking space, the welcome and recognition at reception, the rooms ( especially when I have my own small garden area) - I want to extend special thanks to Emily for going out of her way to find me an appropriate room that I could afford, at late notice. But that's the way it is here, everyone just can't do enough for you.

The Old Parsonage Hotel was so lovely. We were lucky enough to be there while the wisteria was blooming on the front of the building. Very nice outside patio for good weather days. Cozy inside and the rooms are a good size. You can easily walk to the city center and restaurants for breakfast and dinner.

I had a wonderful and relaxing (although short) stay at the Old Parsonage Hotel. I was traveling with a group of coworkers and in town for a very short stay. The hotel was able to take our bag in prior to checking in which was very convenient as we did not want to take luggage to our meeting. Check-in was a breeze. I would have given it four stars had the food been good but sadly the lamb was very sub-standard, gristly and lacking flavour. That said, it was dealt with very professionally by the waiter so no complaints there. My wife's fish was very nice and we enjoyed cocktails in the bar beforehand. We were also given the wrong room to begin with - room 8 which was very small and had no bath and when I went to reception they took us to the right room (18) which was lovely. Took my mother-in-law here for afternoon tea. The sandwiches and cakes were delicious and the quiet surroundings was exactly what we had hoped for. However, the level of service wasn't at the level that I'd expect from the hotel. Hi Rankinfoodie here. This is my idea of a good hotel. Small, old building but great modern design inside. We splashed out and booked a suite. Great attention to detail in the room. My only complaint would be the minimalist storage space and a bath too long for short people. Very unobtrusive but attentive staff. Good small bar, lunch, afternoon tea, and a good restaurant. Good location and all of Oxford in walking distance. Small car park but they will reserve a space. Will be back.

I stayed at the Old Parsonage with my partner, as a treat from him for my 30th birthday. We couldn't recommend the hotel itself and it's staff more highly as our whole stay was perfect. We arrived before our check in time (so we could do that day's complimentary walking tour) and felt very welcomed and reassured by the staff, who took our luggage and had it delivered to our room whilst we were out. The walking tour was an absolutely brilliant introduction to the key locations, led by an extreme... Read more

Came for my girlfriends birthday. Received a complimentary upgrade to a beautiful room in this lovely hotel. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Oxford is a nice place for a night away. Very clean.

Rarely these days does a hotel exceed my expectations but this one did in spades. The location is in my view perfect. The old building looks lovely and quaint. However, once inside it is like a tardis. The interior spaces are wonderfully decorated. The bar and dining area is really cosy, particularly on a cold winters evening. The bedroom was tucked away in the bowels of the building but was fabulously well appointed. The bathroom fittings were lovely. The bed was super comfortable. The decor... Read more

We spent 2 nights here on our visit to Oxford. We had a very good experience. Our room was fine- not too large, but perfectly adequate, with a nice bathroom & it was very clean. The service at check-in was good, although a little silly that we arrived at 2:20 but they didn't let us in the room til after 3 (on a Wed. afternoon). There was even a small patio with a chair outside our room, although it looked at the parking lot. We did have one instance where it seems our next door neighbor lit a ci... Read more

Very impressed on arrival, as the parking space I'd requested when booking had been reserved for me by named sign - this level of service & attention continued throughout my stay. The Old Parsonage is a characterful old building with tastefully appointed modern bedrooms, and a stunning library where I'd love to have spent some time - especially as I was told I could have room service supper served there after my late arrival yesterday evening. Service is friendly & efficient without being intru... Read more

This was our second stay here and it was just as good as the first. The room was large and comfortable even if a twin not a double. The service was top rate. We did not eat there this time but have in the past and I am sure it remains excellent. Much better than the faded and complacent Randolph.

I went to the Old Parsonage Hotel for afternoon tea with a friend. You could not fault the tea. It was amazing, all freshly made, sandwiches were ok standard, but teh cakes and scones beautiful . Service was second to none. However at £25 plus 12.5% service charge, £28, I thought this was a bit excessive. Hmmm. Maybe there won't be a next time.

We went for one night for our 20th wedding anniversary and had a great time. It is a lovely refurbished hotel with a distinct feel. Rooms are great and we especially liked the bathroom with waterfall shower and under floor heating. Would recommend this hotel to anyone

The services from all the different staff at reception, restaurant and also the room cleaning staff was superb. We stayed in a junior suite with our 11 month old son and the room was perfect for our one night stay. The atmosphere of the hotel is great and the recommended chefs special for dinner was indeed very good! Also the location in the centre of Oxford is excellent. All in all we had the perfect one night stay to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday as a family.

We were charmed from the minute we arrived by the "chocolate box" look of the exterior of the OldParsonage, and equally pleased by the downstairs rooms (entry, lobby, restaurant) which combine the traditional with a contemporary flair, and the dark tones made it cozy and welcoming. Although not large, our room was more contemporary with beautifully "tailored" fabrics, while the bathroom was impressively up-to-date and provided all of the amenities. There is no lift and our room was a few flight... Read more
