I was in Oban for a meeting and unfortunately couldn't get booked into the same hotel so booked into the Regents. It was on street parking which was okay as it was tea time when I arrived. On arrival I asked about wifi and the man said only in some rooms and if I wanted it I could sit in the bar area! Not great when you have work to do. I asked about dinner and I was told that food was served in the bar until 9pm, perfect I thought as I would be back from my meeting in time. Arrived back at 8.52... Read more

Loved it! Had a great room with a view over the water, beautiful sunsets. They had some live music which was great. Con tiki do stop here though so you may have a lot of people lob up but it's a big place. Our room was in the Victorian section of the hotel. Breakfast was lively and the staff were very welcoming.

My Husband and Myself have just spent a midweek break at The Regent in Oban. Firstly, I agree with other visitors, that it is in need of a little TLC in some places, and a bit of updating. Having said that, I would like to say the Staff, dining room, reception, housekeeping, chef, and bar - are first class, and work very hard indeed. We enjoyed our stay very much, and would return again, -soon. The views were lovely, the town was nice and bustling, and the restaraunts, cafes, seafood shops and s... Read more

Usually you get what you pay for; in the case of The Regent Hotel we got more than we bargained for. We booked in for one night and when we got a sea view room and realised that most of the reviews onTA were away with the fairies we booked a second night. Yes, it's a little tired although renovation work is obviously ongoing but what a great Deco building to spend some time in. Live music too though we only caught that one evening. Lack of parking could be a pain but plenty of free parking ... Read more

Hotel was very clean and tidy. Lovely clean room, carpets looked new, bathroom was great. Food was good. Enjoyed the 2 nights entertainment. Steps to hotel were not great for my bad knees :( Surrounding area great, many nice little cafe's.

This Hotel is in the most amazing situation. The views across to Mull, watching all the ferries coming and going, and the sunset. wow. The friendly hospitality, service and food in the Regent Hotel exceeds expectation. I wasn't disappointed at all, I will definitely go back, and would recommend to my friends.

The Regent has a great view over the Oban water front for the restaurant and some of the rooms, well worth requesting one if you can. The rooms are a good size and have maybe the largest bathrooms I've seen in a hotel! We only stayed one night and didn't have dinner at the hotel but breakfast was very good and the staff were friendly and attentive. I would definitely go back!

Stopped at this place with my wife and my parents. This place could do with an overhaul, carpets/painting etc, But do not let this put you off, its great value for what you get and the rooms are clean and tidy, there is a lift to all floors. We paid £79 for a double room with a view overlooking the sea ( Excellent ). You have to park your car either on the street parking ( no charge after 6pm ) or a car park not run by the hotel, Great breakfast the next day Pleasant staff.

Just back from a two night break from the hotel. Looks a nice building on the outside with one part very old stone and the other a 1930s Art Deco style. Upon entering up the sweeping stair (be carful as these are narrow at one side) you will arrive in an entrance area where you will find leaflets of various places to visit during your stay. Reception area has plenty seating, staff were friendly and welcoming. First room I stayed in was on the first floor at the back of the building. This look... Read more

Old style hotel. Our room was small but clean. We reported a couple of problems but they were fixed very quickly. The food was very good and the drinks were a bit expensive. We did not use the lift but it was very small and slow.H hotel in a nice position for getting around Oban.

Recent 5 stay at Regent . Room was clean with a wonderful view over Oban bay. With the wonderful view and wonderful weather there can be little to beat this. Spoiled a little by cups being left unwashed and bathroom sink also unwashed during service of room. Sun came in during afternoon making room very warm. With no air conditioning warm during night as a result.Food was great and service of restaurant staff being excellent. Reception staff also pleasant and helpful. Stairs could do with a face... Stayed for 1 night here before catching a ferry. Felt very welcome when we arrived. Room was nice but had no view (although we hadn't booked a view - so if you go always book a room with a view). Breakfast was nice. Handy location wise for restaurants and ferry. You do have to pay for parking in the day though.

Used as a billet for the RAF during the 2nd War, this hotel is badly in need of a makeover. The room allocated to us was filled with furniture that looked like it had come from a car boot sale, the plumbing was vintage (though functional) and the window frames were all but rotted away. Having said all that, this hotel is used by coach parties staying only one night and as such should be seen as a place to lay one´s head and little else. . Handy for the town centre though parking nearby is expe... Read more

Just a one night stop, to catch the early morning ferry, so left before breakfast. However, the room, in the older part of the hotel, was clean, spacious and had everything one wanted. What was particularly welcome - was the friendly restaurant staff, who found us a table, despite the fact we hadn't booked , and there were coach parties in. The service was excellent - and they bent over backwards to cater for a gluten free diet. The food was delicious, and plenty of it, and good value for money.... Read more

I have stayed at this hotel on several occasions, both alone, and with my family. It's true that it could do with a bit of money being spent on it, but overall it's a great holiday experience - lovely breakfasts (we love the porridge with cream and cinnamon sugar), good value lunches and lovely wee bar where you can sit back with an Oban whisky looking towards a sunset over the bay. If you are staying here don't expect the Ritz, but what you'll get is a good, old-fashioned hotel experience, with... Read more

Stayed here on a short break holiday. The hotel itself is in desperate need of decorating throughout and has poor accessibility for disabled customers. That said the staff are friendly and accommodating. The food is ok for the price paid, breakfast tended to be rushed.

I stayed here for two nights because it was in the town centre and reasonably priced. It really does need renovation and some of the truly flaking areas are embarrassing. For a cheap stay on the edge of the town centre it is an okay place to stay for a night or - you will have a decent sleep at the least, but I would eat elsewhere. I had dinner here the night I arrived but the food on offer was not good - it wasn't disgusting, but it wasn't good. The majority of the staff seemed to be younger P... Read more

The Art Deco facade hides bedrooms which are shabby but not chic unfortunately - ours faced onto the back of a kebab shop and there were two large noisy chimneys and an alley for a view. We were also right next to the lift, which was also very noisy. The floors above creaked constantly and every sound could be heard from everywhere. The windows were dirty with loads of black stuff down one of them and another was cracked across the whole pane, there was also black fungus along the window frame. ... Read more

We were here in may and it was great. Back again in August. We visit this hotel when we go to Oban, would not go anywhere else. Great location overlooking the bay. Only a few hundred yards to the town centre, just turn left and you are nearly there. Car parking can be a problem in Oban but no problem here there is a car park opposite the hotel, you can keep an eye on your from your room window!. costs £1 per hour, but anything you have left over at 6pm is carried forward to the next day (9am... I had a room in the annexed residential hotel which is attached. It was a little worn, but there was some refurbishing going on, so it may be freshened up by now. It was a quiet single room, and clean. I loved that I was able to open the large window a bit for the fresh harbor air! Breakfast was crowded and noisy, but in a lovely large dining room. Service was fine. This was not my favorite hotel of my trip, but definitely serviceable and conveniently located. I'd stay again.

We recently spent a few days here and had a good time. The staff were helpful, the food choices were good and very tasty. The bedroom was comfortable with a lovely view. My only complaint would be the nightly entertainment which was a bit loud as our room was over the lounge. Would be happy to return again though.

It's not like me to give negative feed back but I am struggling to say anything good here. I paid an extortionate price for a room I was not comfortable a couple of weekends back and just came away angry with the owners of this hotel - firstly the view from the dining room of the bay is exceptional, so why is what could be an art deco splendour decorated in dingy brown and fawn. The hotel is clean,, don't get me wrong, and I suppose that should be enough, but this hotel despite the lack of par... Read more

Like Rodney Dangerfield said in one of his comedy acts to one of the ladies on the dance floor, : I bet you were something back in the Depression: In my opinion, this hotel has hygiene issues throughout. In particular, was the men's public/lobby - restroom/toilet. It was so bad, that I could not bring myself to use it. The toilets bowels and urinals had old remnants of bodily fluids, both in the solid form and fluid form. These affected areas were simply splashed over with the standard blue disi... Read more
