The Falcon came highly recommended to me and I am pleased to pass that on. Very comfortable room and superb bathroom. the place as a whole felt both spacious and intimate with friendly and helpful staff. The only odd thing was no phone in the room The restaurant was quiet (it was a Tuesday) but service was friendly. It was open into the lounge so watching a couple engrossed in their knitting was slightly quirky. Uppingham itself I would describe as "twee" - the sort of place where you spot a fly... Read more

Stayed for one night for a family wedding in the same venue, everything was spot on. Lovely room, tastefully decorated - modern but in keeping with the old building. You can also use your check in card to book drinks to your room in the pub and wine bar across the square which was useful. Limited parking, but if you park elsewhere they refund your ticket!

This Hotel gets better every time I go back, the owners have put so much into this place it was in need of modernising a few years ago but now it looks fabulous. The management and staff are so helpful, the rooms are terrific and modern and very clean, the food is excellent and restaurant is well laid out, The staff are so cheery and nothing is too much bother, I'm looking forward to going back again next year on our annual fishing trip to this area I have been going there for the last 30years.

We enjoyed a fabulous wedding at the Falcon from our initial enquiry to the end of our stay the service was superb. Nothing was too much trouble and Carol and the team provided the personal touch and helped make our day perfect. The hotel, staff and food are faultless, and we can't recommend The Falcon enough. Thanks.

Stayed at the Falcon for a friends wedding. The room was lovely, bed comfy, real effort put in to the styling within the room. Good breakfast. Would recommend the hotel to others from our experience. Everyone attending the wedding was very complimentary about the arrangements. The evening buffet was well thought out even if the band was a bit loud. what really impressed me was that the owner (Carol?) has eyes like a hawk and was so attentive during the evening making sure that the staff were res... The Falcon Hotel is unique. It's style is perfectly balanced between ancient charm and modern luxury, and the staff deliver top quality service with a relaxed friendliness. You could spend much time relaxing in a corner of the hotel and its pretty garden, or hours browsing the antique shops and galleries in this pretty market town. But you'll be trilled to retreat once again to the Falcon for tea and cake, to find your place in its snug bar, or to enjoy the beautifully luxurious 16th upstairs d... Read more

From the first greeting at Reception the efforts of the staff to please are apparent. I last visited the Falcon before the take-over and make-over by the current owners, and the difference is considerable. The old décor in the public areas has been re-invigorated with brighter colours, and new rooms overlooking the rear courtyard are luxuriously fitted. Whilst I stayed in one of these, some of my business colleagues were equally impressed with their rooms at the front overlooking the 'charming ... Read more

Dropped into this hotel on the off chance that we could get lunch - it was rather late for Sunday lunch! No problem, we were seated immediately. We have been before for weekday lunches, but we were very surprised at the difference in the appearance of the lounge/dining area - much improved. The bar/waiting staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food - roast leg of lamb - was excellently cooked and very tasty with a very different range of vegetables provided - varying from asparagus to sa... Read more

We were lucky enough to be guests at a wedding reception here recently and it was a wonderful venue. The attention to detail was excellent and we had a thoroughly enjoyable time outside in the garden, in the dining room and then with a live band in the evening.

6 adults visited this restaurant after walking out of our usual one because of lack of choice. Never been to the Falcon before and often wondered what it was like. From the moment we stepped in we were very impressed. Decor is smart, chic and airy with plenty of room between diners. Staff were welcoming, attentive and great to talk , making us feel relaxed. Food was good and well presented. We loved the vegetarian curry. Will definitely be returning and have changed to this restaurant being our ... Read more

Dropped in for sunday lunch the hotel was a bit up market for me but pleasant surroundings, we sat out in the garden area on a beautiful sunny day but when the food was brought out we were quickly disappointed, my friend (who is a chef) said things were not right with the food but we tucked in, paid the bill and left. Not long after I had to make a dash for home with crippling stomach spasms and explosive bowl movements and my friend wasn't much better. Won't be going there again.

My wife's eldest daughter chose the Falcon Hotel as the location for her wedding. It turned out to be perfect with the delightful Oak Room used for the ceremony, the gardens for meeting guests with drinks and canapés and the spacious and airy dining room for the reception. The hotel staff went out of their way to make the whole day a success. It was also very pleasant to be staying in the hotel and not having to travel anywhere at the end of a very long day. My husband and I left the Bird Fair in Rutland and we were looking for a place to eat. We spotted The Falcon Hotel in Uppingham and decided to give it a try. What a delightful experience! They have a beautiful restaurant with linen napkins, silver cutlery, very quiet live piano music and delicious food. It was so quiet and elegant and such a relaxing experience. Thank you to the friendly staff.

We dropped in here for a lunchtime drink on a visit to this beautiful little town on an unseasonably cold day in august. We stepped into a lovely oak panelled bar area decorated with a multitude of plaques of military regiments, although the 2 waitresses we asked could not explain the reason they were there, which was a little disappointing, as it was such an attractive feature and talking point. This is an imposing building in the centre of the town but which is somewhat lacking in atmosphere. ... Read more

My husband and I had The Apple suite. The most beautiful hotel room I've ever stayed in. The comfiest bed, it's own sitting room in delightful grounds. The hotel put on an amazing wedding, hosted in the new Orangery. First class service, fantastic attentive staff, seamless service. Would absolutely love to stay longer and experience a Sunday dinner and an afternoon tea. We all had the best time ever at my sons wedding. This venue is the perfect English venue. This hotel was recommended to me by a good friend I have known for many years. He stays on a regular basis and I can fully understand why as it was a great experience staying at the Falcon. The room was very well appointed and clean with a lovely bathroom. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful and it all added to a quality stay. This is the second time I have stayed here and really pleased to have done so. It is comfortable, attractive, clean and nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff. It is very refreshing to have this kind of service. Uppingham is a lovely place to wander around and if you don't want to eat at the hotel, try Don Paddy's across the road, you can still stagger back to bed.

Arrived at lunch time and checked in. I can honestly say I have never met such helpful staff before in any hotel. Was shown to my room and after some issues gaining access I was in. The room was clean but a bit cramped. The rooms had been recently refurbished but there was no air con, the curtain had obviously broken and was in the wardrobe and wi-fi and phone coverage was awful. I was informed that this is because the building is lead lined. A shame this is not mentioned on the website. If you ... Read more

Lovely big bedrooms with two armchairs (a rarity), a desk and desk chair, also a most comfortable mattress and a well-equipped bathroom. The breakfast variety and quality is to behold and the public rooms have a nice air about them. There is a good smallish bar (and lovely tap room) with good value wines and a real ale. We were there as a group of 20 people and had two organised dinners - again the service was tremendous and the menu variety was good. Unfortunately not all the meals quite made i... Read more

Had a number booked business meetings. The rooms are dark and dingy with inadequate lighting. The downstairs main bar area looked uninviting with dirty tired seating and sticky carpet. Staff were good natured and very customer friendly unlike some of the food particularly the afternoon tea which was unappetising and really awful as afternoon teas go. This hotel is not cheap so could do better. I will alas not be holding any more business meetings here simply because there are better venues to b... Read more

My husband and I stayed here on a business trip. It looks like a lot of renovation is being done in all areas and the parts that have been done are lovely. There are still plans to be fulfilled by the looks of it but they are definitely heading in the right direction. Attended here for a pre booked sit down meal with family. We ordered the week before arrival due to the large number of us. We have come here same time of year for past 3 years but this visit was by far the worst.
