First visit to IOW - My friend booked this hotel Really liked this hotel for the location - stayed Friday - Monday the 4 nights were comfy and the room was always nice and fresh. Great bathrooms very nice décor and ample space. Staff were great and really helpful on most occasions - the only instance was when the hair dryer blew up on me and almost exploded on me!!!!! My friend took it to the reception to tell them and hand it back it was so bad it rattled with the pieces inside, but they didn'... Read more

Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Clean, comfortable rooms with excellent showers, albeit temporary beds a little hard. Rooms also a little stuffy. Excellent location in the centre of Newport, with lots of bars and restaurants near by. Also excellent base for walks on the island: we walked Newport to Ventnor, Newport to Bembridge and Newport to Alum Bay, with good location transport for the return legs. A very happy experience oveall!

We used this as a base for a cycling weekend. The hotel is clean, well located for the town and cheap. We paid £50 each for two nights bed only. Able to securely store our bikes under the stairs. Reasonable bar although no ale only larger and bottles. Rooms are good size and clean. Best thing was the shower, although it was over a bath it was the most powerful shower I have used in a hotel - perfect after a day's cycling. Didn't use the restaurant of have breakfast bug saw the buffet in the mor... Read more

The hotel is well situated to explore Newport (on foot) and the surrounding areas. Whilst there is no car parking on site, the pay and display car park opposite is well lit, reasonably priced and free between 1800 and 08.00.

We stayed for three nights and our room was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was excellent with a very good variety of food. The staff were all very friendly and our special lady (Doreen) was very nice and very friendly, sorry don't know all the other staffs names but all very nice. Meals in the evening if you wanted them were also very good. Would recommend this hotel as shops and bus stop just a very short walk away. Car park just down the road so every thing easily within reach.

Excellent location close to town centre, comfortable rooms, and some of the best customer service I've received in a hotel. We were given good advice on eating options nearby and parking arrangements.

Just returned from a 3 night stay, rooms ok, the Ryde travelodge is nicer and cleaner, the walls had some spills down them, but other than that it was a good base for exploring the island, didn't eat there as there is a wetherspoons 2 minutes round the corner. Car park up the road £5 for 24 hours

Spent a night here as we travelled around Isle of Wight. With 3 Kids (one a baby) can't really do campsites and the shower / bathroom is a bonus. The hotel had a "buy a breakfast for £7.95- two children under 13 eat free" you can't beat that - whole family fed for under a tenner???! And warm and dry? Won't be camping for a while!!!

I found the hotel to be of average standard but the price that i had to pay for 3 family rooms for 2 days was too much regardless of the busy bank holiday period. I was expecting a bit of extra discount/deal.

Spent 2 nights here, 2 adults and 2 kids. The rooms where basic but clean. The large king size bed was comfortable. the 2 children's beds where comfortable but unfortunately the bedding used was a bit old, worn and bobbley. My kids do not do bobbley!! The room itself was very hot, the window was open when we got there but we still had to use the plug in fan provided. It wasn't only the room which was hot but the corridors where too, it would seem the hotel doesn't have air con. Not good when you... Read more

Pay car park across and down the street - limited WiFi - limited TV channels (not Freeview) - ground floor rooms can be noisy - but hotel is reasonably clean and functional, and in the town. It's functional and OK if you get a good price.

Stayed here for one night. Car park is nearby which needs to be considered when carrying luggage, children and pushchairs. Rooms were standard Travelodge. The receptionist Jess was very helpful putting up travel cot for us. Breakfast was reasonable. Nothing special. I'd stay here for one night again

This travelogde doesn't have a free car park but just up the road there's a pay and display - it's a little dodgy looking with limited light at night so I wouldn't personally go alone. I can't remember the charge exactly but depending what time you get there it's roughly £3.50 for 12 hours and £4 for 24 hours. So just keep some change on you. Staff were friendly enough and rooms were the standard travelodge arrangement - You get what you pay for. However the full English breakfast was disgusti... Read more

3 night stay in a room on the first floor. Clean and comfortable with bar open until 1am. Very friendly, efficient and professional staff always readily available. Tasty breakfast. Perfect location - a reasonably quiet street just behind the High Street so close proximity to all local amenities and only a short walk to the bus station with excellent transport links all over the island.

For me a hotel is just somewhere to sleep at night and keep my belongings safe when out and about exploring, this does exactly that. Nothing special really. The room & bathroom were clean and well kept and had all the things you would need for a few days stay. Staff were friendly but hard to find them. Didn't bother with breakfast there as it was too expensive, went to a Wetherspoons just down the road for a third of the price. Hotel was quiet and the street wasn't very busy as its not a main ro... Booked in,room clean TVs only got 2 channels. Be asking for a fan for 2 nights as hottest day of the year so far , no fan as yet . You can wait up to 20 mins to see a member off staff . Has to be the worst travel lodge I have ever stayed at,and we stay at travel lodges 45 weeks a year. Please avoid you will be disappointed !!!

Wanted to explore the Isle of Wight for the weekend, so looked for somewhere central to stay and Newport fitted the bill. Just needed a bed for the night, as would be out most of the day so selected the Travelodge in town. Parking is at the end of the (one way) road, and at £5 for 24 hours, buy one ticket and return many times, parking wasn't a problem. You can drop bags off outside and then go to the car park (leaving wife and bags in hotel lobby). This is one side back from the centre of tow... Read more

I have stayed in a lot of Trvelodges lately and this was the best so far. I was on the third floor so it was quiet and the room was large and quirky with sloped sides. The bathroom was nice too and it was very clean. The staff were very pleasant and friendly and there were cols drinks available. It is ideally situated for exploring Newport and the rest of the Isle of Wight, it is very easy to walk in to the town centre. Great service and staff. Always helpful and checking if everything is all right. The breakfast is the sane each day, but there are different things to try. The rooms are nice and mostly clean, bathroom can be a bit sloppy. There is short stay parking which is free from 6pm to 8am, but you can call the pay by phone people to pay for parking. The location is good. The city centre for Newport is behind, with a variety of shops and food.

I know Travelodge are good as cheap, budget hotels but I'd have to say this will be our last Travelodge stay as a family. With two children who aren't toddlers, the room just isn't big enough anymore and no air con. For some weird reason, after our room clean today, it now stinks of cigarette smoke too. Not pleasant. Restaurant far too small too so big queues for breakfast and expensive parking. Sorry, won't be back.

stayed here do to a family issue on the island. Arrived about 11 and took the last room which was for those with disabilities. Not normally a problem taking this type of room except here, the bed was rock hard and slept badly due to the bed and the noise inside and out of the hotel. Considering I didn't get to bed to gone midnight, I was woken several times until the early hours by noise inside and out of the hotel. The room window was adjacent to the pavement. My girlfriend and I stayed here over a weekend in July 2016. On leaving the hotel we realised she had forgotten her fascinator in the bedroom. On calling to enquire about the item, we were treated rather rudely and told that the cleaners had not discovered, or had not logged, any lost property. This was a large, very nice fascinator, sitting in a bag by the leg of the table - not something that could be missed by cleaning staff! We called a few times and were told the same thing on each occasion.... Read more

Rooms were clean and fairly well equiped. It was very hot and the hotel provided a fan, The room had a kettle and provisions for it and the bathroom was equally well equiped. Its not 5 star but more than adequate. Parking is acroos the road at a public car park which has proved to be quite safe over the years I have been there. Biggest critcism I have is the lack of tv channels especially in this day and age of freeview.
