excellent location for stadium of light, town centre and the beach, only 5 mins away. Staff were excellent from the moment we arrive sorting ut luggage, room, car park etc. Waitress at breakfast sorted out dinner reservations while we were sat there. Dinner in restaurant very good, food staff and ambience all exceptional. Atmosphere in the bar was great very lively and friendly. Would definitely stay here again

Just left this hotel and it is one of the nicest places I've stayed for some time. The staff are courteous and polite, the room we stayed in was lovely, clean, bright and airy and the karbon restaurant and breakfast facilities were fab. We both had the karbon burger for dinner and, even though there was a mistake on my husband's order, they sorted it out immediately. I can't fault the staff, they were all LOVELY!!! Rather than a pool access in the adjacent leisure centre that was unavailable at the time I wanted to use it because it was being used for swimming training program and when it was available it was packed with swimming classes and only two small lanes for general use it would be better for the hotel to have its own, integral, small pool. Not Olympic size but more intimate and as a result a better experience. Protected parking should be available regardless of events at the stadium it would be in... Read more

This was just a casual call in as we were in the area . / very impressive / light bright and airy. We had a nice coffee in the bar area and if I have any complaint it's the silly little coffee cups with impractical handles . It would have been nice if the outdoor seating area had been open as with weather for once was lovely but for some reason not . The staff are friendly and helpful and some of the young ones nervous but they'll get there .We will return .

Stayed here on a trip to watch the England/Australia game. I stay in Sunderland a lot whilst on business and after staying in a lot of tired hotels or budget hotels, at last a new hotel where the restaurant delivers a great variety of fresh food (not boil in a bag) in the evenings. The bedrooms are great, air conditioned, great size and hd tv with freeview and very clean. The broadband is fast and free throughout the hotel and rooms, which is great. A brand new hotel which was actually very nice with staff to match. The room was a nice spacious room on the 2nd floor. As expected from a new hotel everything was as good as it gets. Myself, my daughter and friends went to the Beyonce concert on Tuesday 28th at the Stadium of Light. At the end of the concert we had great difficulties getting on the Metro to travel home. We decided to go into the Hilton for a cuppa/drink until the traffic situation settled and then order a taxi to get home. The hotel is newly built so the interior is lovely, it's very modern and well kept. I cannot fault the hotel itself or the staff, however I couldn't give 5 stars due to the difficulty with the car park. The previous night to my stay Beyoncé played in the stadium so the usual sign posted car park had fences up. So regularly I couldn't enter the car park and worried I wouldn't access my car in the morning. I was later told to park in a different car park, which would have been nice if a temporar... Read more

Booked this with a view to visiting Durham but change of plan meant we were visiting Newcastle instead. Great location as five mins walk from Metro to Newcastle. As others have said this hotel is very new with well chosen fixtures and furnishings and for me a highlight was the soft fluffy pillows. A change from hard foam ones often found in hotel bedrooms. We opted for the more expensive option which was a three course meal in the restaurant, rather than a curry in the bar, and it was well worth it to eat in a relaxed atmosphere with a decent wine list and waitress service. Beautiful Modern Hotel and lovely very helpful staff. Great spacious rooms. Great location just a short Metro ride into the heart of Newcastle. Only thing let's this hotel down is the comfort of the bed and pillows. This was the only reason for the 3 out of 5 rating. We wanted to stay an extra night but decided not to because of this reason and moved to a 3* hotel which had a far more comfortable bed and choice of pillows already in the room

Overall the hotel is good well located for other places to eat I would say investigate the area for somewhere to eat before you stay. Luckily we stayed for 2 birthdays but live in the area so after having dinner on the first night of our stay went to one of our favorite places and there are many in the area if you know where to go

Managed to get a good deal on a room for the weekend. The hotel is ideally situated for the town/Roker beaches etc. but is also in a quiet area. (prob not when the football is on though) The hotel is beautiful, clean and light. The rooms are very nice with comfortable beds/chairs. We had a disabled facility bathroom and it was spacious with walk in shower/seat etc. and plenty of handles etc. The staff are extremely helpful and well trained. The breakfast is fabulous.

I was again delighted to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Sunderland, where the room quality is excellent and the staff are superb. Great bed and soft pillows, made for a perfect night's sleep. The breakfast offers a wide selection of fruit as well as the customary English fare, and the staff are only too willing to bring freshly cooked poached eggs on request.

Check in was easy. Some rooms have shower and some bath. Beds comfy. Went to the bar for a few drinks first. After being ignored for quite a while a young girl served me This took her so long to make every time I went over she was serving some one else. The group I was with had all finished their drinks and moving on to the event. The drink arrived. Wrong! I took it back to that bar to be met by a girl with a disgusting habit who said that's how we make it! When I turned round she continued m... Read more

The hotel overall is very good. A swift and effective check-in, well-appointed room (but no bath, *&c% ! Whoever said a bath in the room is unnecessary ?). TV signal was sporadic which is fine if you have The Andrew Marr Show on as 'background' - it was mildly amusing seeing Jeremy Corbyn explode into a million pixels - but if you were watching a film, it might have been slightly irritating. Mentioned on check-out to an indifferent response. And so to the 'Karbon Grill'. I am always suspicious... Read more

No information regarding car parking on arrival, other than "car park is over the road" by the football stadium. Clamping signs in place and hotel staff did not ask for my car registration. No information folder in room. No instructions for the room's heating system. £300 was taken from my bank account (£50 per day) on the first day without my permission. This is a "pre-authorisation" payment, in case guests leave without paying.
