I could say a million good things of the Hotel (good bed, great location) BUT let me go for the not so good part... 1) Making the reservation was a nightmare. I actually went in person to the hotel to get the best value I could. After literally 1 hour, we got it. The reason why it took so long was because we were going to be 2 people staying for 6 nights, and a third person was coming for 3 of those nights. It sounds pretty easy and straight forward, right? I even wrote everything down in a piec... Read more

Hotel in great location. Lovely rooms. Staff rude and abrupt door staff at night time told one of our group to F off and he would ensure we was on the street for the night. None of us was rowdy or causing trouble. customer service needs much improvement. Food nice, bar staff nice. Big let down from other staff

Stayed over night as we had a wedding to go to on the night, was very busy, there were a few hen dos we chose this hotel as we thought they would be staying else where, but they weren't noisy, had security on the door at night, which was unexpected, but made you feel pretty safe. A staff member came into our room in the morning at 11am, i didn't like that as check out wasn't until 12, just glad no one was naked haha we didn't have breakfast

Stayed here one night with my wife so that we could see our granddaughter who is studying at Newcastle University. Immediately on arrival we were greeted by our smiling receptionist who welcomed us to the hotel. Once formalities were over we were directed to our room. The room itself was spacious and very clean and although it overlooked a busy street below we were not disturbed by any noise. Booked this hotel as it was near to the train station, this is a city center hotel and so I had expected to be disturbed by traffic noise. This was not a problem and I enjoyed a good nights sleep. The room was equipped with an iron and board however no hair dryer. The complimentary breakfast was very good with lots of choice. I have my next stay booked and would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Newcastle.

Decided to pick the Hampton for a change and was well worth it. Clean, well equipped bedroom - spotless apart from a few scuff marks on lower parts of the walls. Check in simple and friendly. Breakfast was the best buffet breakfast I've had in this country for an economical stay. £68 for the night for two of us. Was worth more. Will definitely stay again. Forgot to add if you come on the train don't worry about finding it! It's on the main stations doorstep.

Was booked in through business and check in was swift. Staff were all friendly, as does everybody else in newcastle! Don't plan on having a substantial work out as the gym is minute but you can get the job done. check out was quick and easy! Given the temperature at the time I stayed the air con system did not disappoint! Only problems with the rom were the marks on the wall and a random hanger left on the bathroom sink!

The food was good, breakfast was plentiful and varied and lasted 5 hours so there was plenty of time and seating. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, even replaced my door card when I lost mine! Had a really excellent break at a first class hotel that offers good value for money. It has a superb location directly opposite the train station and a short walk from a wealth of shops and restaurants. I like Hampton and stay in them here and in the US, which was why I chose to stay here for a business trip. The room was spacious, bed comfortable, air con, usual amenities such as iron, hairdryer, tea tray. Small reading spotlights over the bed, which I like. Desk area. No bath but a good shower. Soap and shampoo from a dispensing unit which I'm not too keen on, but not really a problem for me. I was pleasantly surprised by the breakfast - a good selection of hot and cold items. Now the... A literal stone's throw from the railway station, this is a hotel which is perfect for a stop over or city centre break. Everywhere you might want to go is in walking distance. The hotel is a revelation in that everything works! The double bedrooms are reasonably spacious; the shower is excellent; the lavatory seat is actually screwed tight; the bed is comfortable (always a matter of personal preference) and there are two bedside lights which work! Stayed for two nights over the Great North Run weekend. Had a lovely room with no real issues for the price paid. I arrived expecting Premier Inn/Holiday Inn Express quality and in my opinion, this was better. Nice walk in shower, good bed and decent breakfast. My only gripe was the quality of the pillows, could have been better. Lovely banana and energy tablets left in the room by management for the run. I would recommend this hotel much in the style of a modern 21st century hotel but no bad thing for that. Room clean and basic small bathroom with shower but functional. Self service breakfast but adequate and with reasonable choice. However staff a bit to eager to clear tables if you go for a refill came back all had been cleared away!! It is a today hotel but I do not have a problem with that. I would stay again when back in Newcastle.

Flew from Ireland to see Cat Stevens/Yusuf in Newcastle City Hall. Arrived at lunchtime so dropped off our bags as room wasn't ready. Found it interesting to be informed that no rooms on any floor would be ready. Informed that reception would be exceptionally busy at 3pm as everyone would be waiting ...... Queueing to check in!!! We stay in Hilton regularly and have never known this strict check in to happen. Walked in city to familiarise ourselves with concert venue and had lunch but we're tir... Read more

We selected this hotel as it was near to railway station and 1 mile away from St James Park Newcastle Utd football ground. The hotel is small for a Hilton but the rooms were very spacious and the bathrooms had walk in shower. The staff were all very pleasant and couldn't do enough to help you. Breakfast included in price , good selection to suit everyone. Would definitely stay here again price for double £89 very good for city prices. Only downfall no parking .

Stopped at the Hampton by Hilton for one night whilst attending a concert. It was very handy for the railway station and perfectly fine for a short stay. The breakfast was ok, but the area it was served from was a little small making it difficult especially if there is a rush on.

Stayed in the hotel for a night with a group of friends for a night out and some shopping. The rooms were all on the same level which was great. Breakfast was lovely, good selection and nice food. Excellent location straight out into the centre of Newcastle. Room was nice, comfertable and clean.

Great Location for shopping with plenty of restaurants nearby. We travelled to Newcastle by train and hotel could not be closer as straight across the road from train station. Hotel is very clean and modern breakfast could be a lot better as only serve scrambled eggs and tinned mushrooms but could not really complain for cost of stay.

Great location, friendly staff. Clean and tidy. Breakfast was decent, buffet style. If you hate finding hotels in strange towns then definitely for you! Very slight damp smell in the room, might overly annoy people in that room but no real issue for us - does stop the 5 star review though.

Newcastle is very busy but have some lovely shops and shopping centres. Many restaurants but we found a brilliant Italian restaurant up a side street called Puccini it was small but gorgeous. Our hotel was perfect .

I wanted to return to York where I had been on a conference and I found a good flight into Edinburgh and out of Manchester and when planning the train, I discovered that Newcastle was on the way. I looked at a map and found this hotel just opposite the train station. ??By Hilton?? sounded trustworthy and I booked immediately. The hotel was as good as any other standard hotel and as cheap as a budget hotel.
