My daughter was getting married and we booked in for a relaxing day and night before the wedding. We arrived early and the receptionist immediately took care of the wedding gown and luggage. We started at 12pm in the gin bar for prosecco afternoon tea with friends. The service was friendly and the food was delightful. We then had spa time from 2pm this included 2 treatments. The spa is beautiful and the therapists were friendly and proffessional. When we arrived to our room early evening the ho... Read more

Great hotel as I would expect from this brand. Booked through the IHG app and although having checked again after arriving, the app suggests visiting the website for the carpark operator but not the actual cost - it costs £12 for 24 hours so make sure you factor this into your trip costs if driving. We will use this hotel again for definite in the future.

My friend and I had the most relaxing afternoon at the Mineral House Spa today. Friendly staff and a lovely, clean spa. We had 2 hours usage of spa facilities; steam room, jacuzzi and swimming pool. This was followed by a choice of treatments. OMG! Roberta gave me one if the best massages I have ever had. Located in the centre of Newcastle and very close to the train station. The hotel itself only recently opened and therefore extremely clean and fresh. Room extremely spacious and well presented and I had no complaints. Breakfast excellent and staff extremely helpful. Well located with lots of restaurant choice nearby.

Within walking distance of the centre of Newcastle and the Station you will find a very comfortable bed here with a wonderfully fresh breakfast. The views are not special but parking next door is very convenient and the hotel has a contemporary buzz with the Gin Bar on the ground floor. Equipment in the gym was just what I needed for an hours workout. There is a Spa & Pool too. Really helpful reception staff.

New city centre hotel. Up to the usual standard of Crowne Plaza. Good spa facilities, rooms and staff were efficient. As this is a city centre hotel don't expect country style peace and quiet. It is located next to Newcastle central railway station and from our room on the 4th floor you could occasionally hear trains arriving and leaving this busy station. A plus if you like railways. Nice hotel in a quiet location in the city. Check in was efficient but I wouldn't describe it as friendly or welcoming. Room was pleasant and clean, but marred by the fact the corridors were littered with used room service trays and items that should have been cleared away much earlier. Room was pleasant and well decorated. Despite the proximity to the station, it remained quiet, so it was easy to relax. We upgraded the room to a Club Room on check in - this was a BIG mistake and a complete... Read more

Nice hotel and very close to the train station. Lovely King room, spotlessly clean, big comfy bed and good sized bathroom with a separate shower. Breakfast was nice but a little chaotic. No clean tables so had to sit at one that had been used. Cold buffet was great but hot food was in short supply but this was probably because it was busy. Would stay again but not sure about adding breakfast next time.

a really new hotel (less than a year), in a great central location. The building looks great and the rooms were excellent, as a regular user of the Group I was upgraded to a Junior Suite which was very impressive. Staff at reception were welcoming and friendly, happy to explain things when I indicated that I was a first time visitor. The room itself was great and I had an excellent nights sleep. I stayed in this hotel with my friend who was visiting from the south, the staff were very welcoming upon our arrival, more than enthusiastic to answer all the questions we had. The night we arrived we were wondering why most of the outside entrance was fenced off however we later discovered that there was a walking on hot coals event on which was a welcome surprise to our evenings entertainment. Would definitly recommend staying in this hotel. Fabulous.

A very impressive hotel with clean, comfy and stylishly presented rooms. Very comfy double bed but sadly a very small and hard sofa bed for the kids - my ten year old ended up sleeping on the floor claiming this was preferable. The staff were extremely helpful and smiley. The handy carpark allowed us to drive straight in, not far too walk at all, not quite sure what the other guests mean by this. My poor rating is purely down to the fact I was kept awake by the nightclub ('entertainment' dow... Read more

I stayed here for one night mid week and it was a great place with great location. I didn't try the food but I have eaten here in the past and it's good quality at average hotel prices. I had a twin double room which had plenty of space and a large bathroom. Free water and the usual tea and coffee. There was a snack tray that had 2 bars of chocolate on but nothing else and be careful as it's one of those that charges you if oh pick the snack up. 2.50£ for a small bar of chocolate! Beds were c... Read more

I stay here with business each week and have had numerous occasions where the organisation and service has been really disappointing. The first example was really slow and non attentive service in the restaurant, main reason that I could see was lack of organisation and no staff with experience or maturity as it was full of young students. Tried room service a few times, including breakfast. Had a tight schedule to keep placed my order on the door the night before. Got up early and got ready, b... Read more

We attended an event here last week. The coffee wasn't served following our meal. I pointed this out to what i assume was the manager (black suit) he argued with me that all tables had had coffee. The tables either side of me also had clean cups so clearly hadn't. He brought out truly terrible coffee. Points lost here. The bar serving the function room was totally chaotic. Staff were pleasant but were not on top of things, I was asked to sign a bill for 3 bottles of wine and 4 gin and tonics I ... Read more

My wife and I booked a two night stay in rider to visit our son and partner. The location is very central, especially if travelling by train which we did, as it is just 5 mins walk from the Main station. Newcastle is a compact city anyway so most of what you need will be on your doorstep. We didn't use the restaurant so cannot comment but the staff in the gin bar were very good even if the prices were a bit on the heavy side. We booked the 'standard' sized room which was perfect for a couple of ... Read more

Myself and my partner stayed here for his birthday a few months ago, the hotel and room itself was very nice, really clean and cosey. We had a good nights sleep and the bed was very comfy. Theres a bar downstairs with a big seating area which we stayed in for a few drinks following our meal out, the staff were friendly and I was happy with our visit overall. The only problem we had a was when we had ordered some drinks at the bar and we had been told we had no money on our room, we had prepaid ... Read more

Stayed with husband & daughter after visit to metro arena (very short walk away). Staff very friendly, helpful and extremely efficient. Quick yet fully informative check in. Had family suite - really spacious and comfortable. Bathroom with separate bath & shower & plenty of little luxuries. Leisure facilities immaculate even if a bit small. All staff encountered genuinely happy to go the extra mile to help. Best bit of stay - BREAKFAST!!! So much choice, everything fresh. Nice environment & at... Read more

It was a pleasure to visit the crown Plaza with my friend for an afternoon tea, was lovely and being veggie was no problem (yep some places still can't deal with one simple request) The waiters and waitresses were great and polite, clearly explain all the sandwich fillings and making my tea just as I like it. The scones were yummy and freshly made, with a lovely selection of mini cakes. Would recommend to anyone.

My boss and I visited the North East recently, he had pre booked and pre payed to gain a price advantage. A swipe of his card was taken and he was nearly charged again until he pointed out the pre payment. Later that day he discovered he had still been charged twice. After a few calls and a fair few minutes it was refunded, not his best experience. From my point of view as a guest it was as near to perfect as you can get. Book breakfast at check in at £9.95 or you have to pay £15,95 on the d... Read more

Great new hotel top quality linen and towels. New bathroom great shower which is a luxury. Staff in restaurants very good and polite. Bargin breakfast high quality. Only problem was we seemed to pay separately for everything breakfast, dinner etc I couldn't understand why it could not be automaticly charged to the room. Copy of cc was on there file. Never come across this before. But very minor problem.

Firstly, we struggled to find somewhere to stay because it was the weekend for dropping students who were starting Uni and we had left it late for booking, so we paid more than usual. We arrived after a long drive and pulled in to the drop off point to ask about parking. We were told it was just down 'the bank' to the left at the lights. What they failed to tell us was that the car park isn't signposted and the building just says Stephenson Quarter on it. They also didn't mention that if you go... Read more

The hotel is so new you can almost smell the paint! Spacious comfortable rooms and beds (we shared a twin room with larger than usual single beds); intact all the corridors and common spaces are spacious. Some of the staff training and systems need a bit of fine tuning, there was an absence of management on display during our stay which seemed a bit odd given how new everything is. We had to report our shower and room thermostats functioning erratically but otherwise all ok. The public car park ... Read more

The Gin Bar has lovely comfortable seating but the two times we used it we were freezing cold. Once in the evening and once late afternoon. We asked for the air conditioning to be turned down but it wasn't. Everyone had their coats on! Not pleasant. Parking £12 per day. Think small discount for hotel residents would encourage me to us... A really nice new feel about the place. The pool area was clean and tidy, as was all the hotel. The staff at check-in were friendly and welcoming. The car parking worked well which was pleasing, as it first appeared that the car parking wasn't connected to the hotel. The room was sizeable and spotless, with a comfy bed and nice new fittings including a large walk-in shower and modern TV. I cannot rate this hotel highly enough and by far the best example of an IHG hotel I've stayed in and as a member I've stayed in lots . Spacious modern hotel with great amenities . Our room was large with a very comfy bed and well fitted bathroom with bath and separate shower. The bar area I particularly liked as it was warm and friendly and had the feel of a bar you would find in the centre of Newcastle and not your normal soulless hotel bar. I was left with mixed feelings about this hotel. Positives: Club Lounge (friendly service, great place for a drink & nibbles in the evening, nice breakfast - definitely worth paying the extra) Location - wasn't sure from other reviews, but a very short stroll into the centre of town or the quayside, a nice Thai restaurant round the corner, and our views were fine. Anniversary acknowledged with welcome tray in room. Areas for improvement: We were given a disabled room, the bathroom was a wet r... Read more

I booked a Spa experience with my daughter which included use of the spa and pool, one treatment each (back massage) then a cocktail and sharing plates in the Gin bar. We were made very welcome in the Spa, everything was explained, the pool is small but adequate and the steam room very relaxing. We both went in the same room for the massage and it was superb. Stayed here while on a business trip in Newcastle in October 2016 and also made use of their conference / meeting facilities. A very clean, bright and modern hotel, although a word of caution about the glass-sided lifts if you suffer with vertigo! The hotel is relatively new so the rooms were modern and spotlessly clean. The hotel is in a quiet location but only a five minutes walk from the centre - shops, restaurants etc. Car parking was great - better than expected - floor 10 of the next door car park is exclusively for the Crown Plaza and after parking you literally walk outside and then straight into the hotel. Firstly an excellent location for Newcastle Central station and both the city centre and quayside. The building is little more than a year old and certainly feels immaculately clean and very stylish throughout. The hotel reception is really modern and inviting. The receptionist very friendly. I was given a twin room, which initially I was disappointed about. My room actually has two double beds in it and was huuuuge. The room was spotless and decorated well, but nothing spectacular. I ordered room service which came quickly and was tasty. I slept really well, with no noise at all. The sleep kit was a nice touch :)
