I was here for a conference and had not been to a Holiday Inn in the last 6yrs so I was pleasantly surprised at how much they seem to have improved stanards and gone quite upmarket. The hotel was lovely and quiet, staff very pleasant and attentive and facilities were good. I had a meal in the restaurant which was delicious and with dessert to die for. I would definitely stay here again.

Needed something reasonable but, most importantly, quiet in the evenings because I needed to study to the next days training. This hotel fitted the bill - didn't need to ask for any special room - all rooms quiet it seems. Could have done with a choice of maybe simpler and cheaper dishes on the restaurant menu - other than burgers that is!

We arrived at the hotel in mid afternoon and quickly checked into our Executive Room (59) which is located on the Ground Floor and also one which has been recently refurbished. Our room was well furnished throughout and provided a good standard of accommodation. The hotel bedrooms appear to have undergone a refurbishment since our last visit and are a vast improvement on what they used to be. Refurbishment of the hotel is still ongoing although we did not experience any disruption to the enjoyme... Read more

Rooms are on the ground floor and have no soundproofing. TV on wall so noise carries straight through. Our neighbours had their TV on loud until 2AM. Hotel reminded me of crossroads motel (for those readers old enough to remember this programme!). Receptionist was very helpful and friendly. Room service quick and food was good. Breakfast buffet was good too. The price was £128 bed and breakfast more expensive than the Crowne Plaza in Newcastle and no where near the quality.

Stayed here before an early morning travel to the airport. The room was freezing, so i went to reception to ask how to work heating ( the box in the corner of the room which we had on) someone was sent to room and confirmed we had the heating on. It was so noisy and didn't heat room atal. My partner and I slept fully clothed and had the spare double duvet too. For the price I paid I would rather sleep on the street - I was just as cold!! Hotel staff very helpful and polite. Large free car park Nice quiet site. We were upgraded to a King Suite (although quite small) but very nice. Hotel provided us with plates etc.... for our take away on our first evening as a late arrival. I used to live in Newcastle so one thing I think it is important to note about this hotel is that it is no where near Gosforth Park (this hotel is located in Seaton Burn) Great links to various roads as it is close to the A1 as well as the A189 and the A... This is a stylish hotel, situated some miles from Newcastle city centre, not far from the race course. The setting is leafy, good for weddings; my bedroom had a king size bed, was bright, clean and nicely appointed with a modern bathroom and shower and some nice cosmetics. There is excellent onsite parking too. The staff were unfailingly pleasant and the food, great for a hotel of this type. I stay at this Holiday Inn fairly frequently on business and it has no doubt improved markedly on its time under previous management. I generally get put in a room on the ground floor away from the swimming pool and its generally fairly run of the mill. Air conditioning isn't present in a lot of the rooms i've had, theres a bolted on heater and i presume cooler too but its quite noisy and i wouldn't want to stay here when the temperatures were high. Not convenient for the city without a car - this middle range hotel is middling all round Acceptable for a stop over but not somewhere one would choose for a treat Restaurant gets good marks for service and reasonable quality of food, and Housekeeping were most helpful - but Reception could do with re-training; they have their script right - but their faces tell a different story (especially if one interrupts their chat) Despite elaborate controls air conditioning apparently works on two speed... I had a lovely stress-free stay at this hotel. The rooms were tidy and clean, and everything about it was brilliant. I really liked using the gym- it has a good range of equipment and the pool and sauna/steam is good. I also quite liked using the Jacuzzi too. The breakfast was really nice and very filling, and we didn't have any problems other than checking out because the receptionist wasn't present at the time.

We stayed in a family room which had 2 comfy double beds - the travel cot I had requested upon booking (via Expedia) was set up and ready to go. The hotel was easy to get to and there was plenty of parking. We took the kids to the pool before dinner which was very nice. Plenty of loungers, very nice and clean changing rooms. A decent hotel set in lovely, green surroundings. Two small points - my room was about 5 minutes walk from reception and the window didn't open. The room was very big and had good air conditioning; the bathroom was good; the room had an iron and ironing board but neither was of great quality. That's it really. I stayed here for a few months on business and I can honestly say that it's one of the better hotels I have used in the IHG chain. And the level of professionalism from the staff remains the same even when the staff get to know who you are, which I think is really good. I was hesitant booking a holiday inn however this hotel has turned my view upside down! Plenty of parking, close to the airport and just off the A1. Rooms are brand new and better than the 4star Raddison in Heathrow. Super clean, spacious and comfortable. Large gym and pool facilities too open from 6:30am. For the wifi and only I have rated this hotel so low. For 3 days I couldn't do anything from checking my e-mails to loading a web page. Swimming pool and facilities very good. Restaurant food excellent. As a spire member vastly disappointed with the wifi.

Attended a macmillan training day. Just wanted to say how amazing the food was from the danish pasteries to the fruit platter to the beautiful 2 course buffet to the freshly cooked afternoon cookies. I will be back. Usually eat at a local cafe nearby but this venue ticks all the boxes even for a cup of coffee..lovely.

I used to stay in this Holiday Inn quite often but haven't stayed for a couple of years. I had a really nice (upgraded) room and my colleague and I were able to use the public/bar area to work. We were disappointed to be turned away from the restaurant which seemed to have become fully reserved at the time we wanted to eat due to a bus party, so we had to eat in the bar area. The food was fine, not great but okay for bar food. The reception staff check-in and check-out was cheery and welcoming b... Read more

Stayed at Holiday Inn Gosforth Park from 24-28th Sept and enjoyed our stay, we were on B&B basis. The room was on the ground floor and it looked to have been modernised and was very comfortable with 2 queen sized beds TV, tea tray, phone, one soft chair and low lighting. The bathroom had a good shower within the bath area. There was air conditioning as well as heating within the room. Plenty of car parking available. Breakfast was self service and quite tasty. Staff were friendly and helpful. We... Read more

Personally I think this hotel is good to stay for business. The foods in the hotel is good. Staffs are friendly and easy to talk to. Gym & swimming pool is well maintained. Thing to take notes, this hotel is far away from the city. If you don't have transport you need to take bus and metro to the city. It is dark at night when you walk back to the hotel from the bus stop. The wifi is really bad, time to upgrade..

I stayed here for 1 night after visiting the Football match on the Saturday and I booked it after looking at indoor pools, I was treated to an excellent time here right from the moment I arrived Amanda the receptionist sorted the error on Booking.coms side quickly and gave us the correct room, they were very friendly and professional. The rooms are exceptionally good with modern upto date decor and immaculately clean, even though I misjudged the leaving time the cleaner allowed me lots of time ... Read more

Spent a night here on the way back from a coach trip to Scotland. Found the room to be very quiet and, unusually, the bathroom extractor fan was also silent. Food was well cooked and plentiful. Hotel has good ambiance with professional staff: only wish our stay had been for longer!

Returned to this venue for a long weekend break and wasn't disappointed. Two slight negatives - the influx of visitors clogging up the sauna / steam room / swimming pool on the Friday night (Popular place for stag / hen parties) and the queues waiting for fresh food at breakfast on the Sunday morning. On a positive note the check-in process was swift and we received a very warm welcome. The Executive room was a good size with 2 comfortable double beds and well away from the bar area so there... It must be my 20th visit here over the last 2 years. Since my initial time continuous improvement has happened that I could notice on arrival. Okay the external look is unwelcoming and dated however the Gym. Pool and rooms are above standard. All improvement work is in progress but will not disturb you.

My wife and i stayed two nights over a weekend. The hotel is clean and comfortable with on site parking however when we arrived the car park was full mainly due to a wedding reception taking place. Despite this party and initial concerns that we would be disturbed by wedding guests we found the rooms to be well sound proofed and very comfortable. It has a so called spa on site however we did not use it. Though looking through the window the pool looked to be fairly small. As hotels go this is ok... Read more

Our room had everything we needed in it..kettle, hairdryer, shampoos etc which was great! Also if you forget anything it is all available from reception. We had a bar meal the evening we arrived which was very enjoyable. Overall a great stay and looking forward to coming back before Christmas, this time to make the most of the pool facil... Read more

Stayed here over the weekend, was easy to find. On arrival the car park was big and plenty of room. Checked in and got told all about the facility. (All guests get full use of them gym and pool areas) Wasn't in the centre of Newcastle but wasn't far from the main road into Newcastle only a 10ish minute drive. Rooms were big and clean and well set out.

My room was very nice, but the food in the restaurant was a disgrace. I ordered the corn fed chicken and it was smaller than a sparrow, the plate was swimming in gravy and even the potatoes were bigger than the chicken. Commented about this to the waitress and all I got was a giggle. Off to Burger King to fill up on food as this wasn't enough for a 5 year old. Never eating here again which is a shame as the rooms are good.

Good hotel for a short break. Very clean, friendly staff. Leisure club excellent and spa treatments good too. We stayed in an upgraded area and rooms were bright and spacious. Only downside restaurant food only lukewarm and 2 desserts sent back due to inedible cream. All in all a great stay but would think twice before eating Iin restaurant again. Hotel could do with an area for children i.e.. board games or pool table as not much else to do in hotel.

For the purpose of my review bias, for the last 14 years I have stayed approximately 60-80 nights a year in the IHG Group chain. Date of stay 19/10/16 (last review 14/5/14) My ongoing experience of the hotel is as follows: 1) Arrival was NOT straightforward using the Sat Nav (TOM TOM) instructions, as it took me to the next exit off the roundabout. You need take the exit for the services and drive 200-300m past the services to arrive at the hotel. 2) On arrival at the hotel the check in staff... Read more
