stay at the rooms at the back of hotel facing kfc as at the front you have a busy railway line also get as far away from the stairs and lift as the noise echoes through your room and finally check the bed does not dip in the middle as you will have a terrible nights sleep

Reception staff very friendly, We stayed in 2 rooms, very comfortable beds and not too noisy. Only slight complaint would be stained carpets, hooks missing off net curtains and slight odour in family room. Extra tea, coffee, and milk in reception area which was great as didn't have to bother the staff.

Travelodges are never going to be plush, the best thing about them always is price and staff. The receptionist Tara deserves special mention here, great sense of humour and very helpful. This travelodge doesn't have a bar but does have a small comman area off reception to meet your friends/fellow travellers, not posh but a grand spot for a base to explore Newcastle although a bit our in Gateshead, a perfect location for the ENORMOUS Metro Centre.

We book this hotel a few times a year as its cheaper to stay over night than to get a taxi home to darlington. We were greeted by justine she told us about taxis and what bars to try and as already new some of them she was lovely and bubbly and very very helpful she even helped us carry our bags to our room and gave us some glasses to use as we had forgotten ours I hope shes there when we come back again what a love... Pleasent hotel as always with travelodge. Hotel location was great for this situation, whether it is for shopping or visiting the local area. Even thought there is no dining area. There are food and drink opportunities a stones throw away. Also a local pub with food available. Staff were very nice. We would stay here again.

Eleven of us stayed here for 2 nights for a Stag Weekend in Newcastle. Even though it's a 15 minute taxi ride into the city it is still in a good location in Gateshead due to it's proximity to all the main roads - so easy to get there. Several chain restaurants within a stones throw as well as a decent local pub (The Skiff Inn) literally next door, so you have plenty of places to eat before heading into town. The hotel itself was clean, the shower was hot and at a decent pressure (a rarity in bu... Read more

Stayed here to break our journey after visiting Scotland. Good location just off the A1, with plenty of places nearby to eat. The room was clean and comfortable, and very spacious. Only here for one night, but it suited our journeu route. Would stay here again with no problem. Only downside was that our room, although on the top floor faced the front of the hotel where the bin store was located. The binmen arrived very early in the morning!

This hotel had dirty carpets throughout, including in the room, a shower with the pressure of a flat tyre, noisy from traffic with a constant drone, just horrible. I'd also paid online when booking but when checking in, was informed the payment wasn't taken.

Beside the River Tyne, Travel Lodge Gateshead, offers a respite from a busy urban environment. Comfortable rooms, with comfortable large double beds, and a bath/shower room offering copious quantities of hot water. Despite being on le minutes from the busy A1 trunk road and the busy MetroCentr, the hotel is quiet. The staff are professional, helpful and courteous and the overall ambience is of a modern, well maintained and clean hotel.

This hotel was very nice, I stayed here with group of friends for a Hen Do and it did the job. The staff were nice and accommodating, we arrived early and the room wasn't ready- the lady on reception let us put our bags in the staff room area while we went out to explore. The location was alright, it runs next to a train line but I didn't hear a train from our room at all, we were on the ground floor at the end of the hotel. Overall a very nice stay and we enjoyed ourselves.

As usual the room was excellent - well prepared and very comfortable - we looked out over the Tyne which gave me a fresh pleasant perspective of this area. I was on the verge of cancelling after reading reviews of stag and hen groups making noise but i was assured security makes sure no one runs around making noise and I wasn't disturbed at all , but my children's pop up beds were awful and they had to sleep on top of the duvets to soften the uncomfortable springs, extremely poor quality

We have stayed for 4 nights at Travelodge/Pontiland near airport which had a Toby Carvery adjacent to it for meals. We moved on to this Travelodge because it is near to the Large shopping Precinct and also nearer to the Sage Theatre in Gateshead. There was also a fast food outlet near the hotel. Hotel immaculate, and service was friendly and also well informed as to the highlights of staying there.

Stopped here for the night on our way up to Morpeth. As there is 4 of us we are in a family room. Good sized double bed and two singles are provided. Price for one night stay was only £45 so not expensive. Tea and coffee on the table is a nice touch. The fan was a good idea as it was a hot night. Stayed here for a weekend. Reasonably priced, clean spacious room, good location for access to Newcastle centre. You will need a taxi into the centre but only about £10-12, there are a couple of restaurants next to the hotel + a KFC, and the huge metro retail park is only a 10min walk away. Staff are helpful and can't really fault it as a short stay hotel for the Newcastle area.
