What a pleasant stay at the Holiday Inn Express. We were impressed with the hotel for several reasons. It was very close to just about everything that you would like to do or see in the city. The rooms are good size and the room that we were in had either 2 full size beds or 1 bed and a lounge. (One of the beds is a hide a bed and was also comfy). The room had an iron, ironing board, hair drier, hot water cooker, tea ,coffee and condiments. Refills of extra tea or coffee were available upon... Read more

Stayed for an overnight visit whilst exploring Newcastle for a day or two with my partner. The hotel itself is really nice, about 5 minutes walk to the train station and over the road from the discovery museum. The room was big enough for our purpose, although they said they were putting us in a quiet room but the hotel has roads going round it so it wasn't really that quiet, didn't have any trouble with noise during the night however. The breakfast was okay, choice of bread, yoghurts and pastri... Read more

Excellent staff at check in, who made sure the slightly peculiar parking signage was well explained. They ensured i got the best available room as part of my HI 'Elite' privilege and exchanged my leaking kettle very quickly. (previous occupants had dropped and broken it). i personally didn't like the bed which is more due to my sensitive back than a poor quality mattress. I absolutely loved the shower and the proximity to the town centre is a real attraction to.

Three examples of poor management - 1 - There was a puddle in the lift - Strange but true - advised a member of staff, came back ten minutes later it was still there no signs nor cleaned up. 2 - A coach party of Chinese people was there for breakfast - so they set up two long tables and reserved them. No one managed the coach party and they sat at the smaller tables meaning other guests could only sit on sofas etc. 3 - A colleague had a room with a connecting door a group of young Chinese ladie... Had a fantastic holiday with the family. Breakfast and stay was great. The staff were friendly welcome and its nice wee walk fae the train station. Would like to stay there and the one at metro again. One thing there us 3 of us in the room and we only had two towals. Really should put 3 towals there. I wasn't angry about. Its just a wee top tip if there 3 people in the should put three towals not two. Nathan

Room was adequate, location was good, parking was cheep if leaving the city during the day, but overall the hotel was not a patch on Premier Inn and we'll pay the extra few pounds next time. Beds were very uncomfortable and with the sofa bed for the kids there was barely any space to walk never mind store our luggage. To get to the window (and curtains) we had to clamber over the sofa bed. Bedside light did not work. Disapointing breakfasts.

I stayed here for 1 night in room 224. It ticked all the boxes that i look for when i am away with work, it had an iron and ironing board in the room, had ample parking (chargeable but reasonable price) right next door. I'd previously stayed at the Travelodge in the same city but this time i though i'd give this hotel a go as it worked out cheaper per night with the parking. There are pluses and minuses for both - The Travelodge doesn't have an iron and ironing board in the room but you can re... Read more

The staff at this hotel are a credit to the management especially Lucy the receptionist she is such a nice well mannered bubbly person and a big asset to your hotel. Also a mention to the night manager sorry forgot his name he has a great sense of humour always had a laugh and a joke with us at night when we got back to the hotel. Thank you for a great weekend.

The rooms are up to date and have a really good power shower. I had a room facing the square at the back, which was really quiet, until the bins were brought out at 5.15 am. Breakfast was very poor, even for a Holiday Inn Express, but the location is very central for shopping, the railway station and the beach.

I was very impressed with the reception staff and was quickly provided with my room key. The room was very clean, comfortable with the normal TV, wifi and complimentary tray. Nothing special but is was ok for a 1 night stay for work purposes. There is a car park next door which is handy. Rooms were clean and had everything you need and there is a large bar area. Breakfast was nothing special, really didn't enjoy it.

Very close to the train and metro stations. just the perfect location to connect with the downtown and the airport. The center of life is just few step far. Very good english breakfast and wi-fi included.

Excellent hotel. Close to the railway station and well located for the city centre. Room is very modern, comfortable and well equipped for a great stay. Spotless modern bathroom with a great shower. Complimentary breakfast is plentiful and the sausages and scrambled eggs are delicious. You could pay a lot more for a lot less and I will definately stay here the next time I'm in Newcastle. Fantastic hotel.

Our first stay in holiday inn and this will be the last hotel that we will want to stay again. We booked a room to stay for two nights. First night we arrived late and we are so tired when we actually went to bed at around 2 am we discovered that the bed does not have one of the legs. My little kid was sleeping hence we did not want to call the reception at that time. But it was a terrible night to try and sleep on that broken bad after a long day. In the morning, we notified the reception and... Read more

Stayed here for one night on a shopping trip. Bright and modern throughout. Room was spotless and extremely comfortable. Even though we were on the side of a busy road the sound insulation was excellent. All staff were friendly and extremely welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful. Only downside was the fact that multi storey car park next door was full when we arrived so we had to park elsewhere. However would definitely stay again and would recommend to others.

As it says in the title, a decent place to stay, very much standard HiEx regards the building and rooms, but with staff who seem to be willing to go that bit further. Also 10min walk from Newcastle Central Railway Station. The main impact however, was breakfast when I nearly fell through the floor in amazement! The scrambled eggs were not just "edible" but actually enjoyable! Far to many, sadly, of the HiEx chain seem to produce scrambled eggs with the stodgy consistency of dried out mashed car... Read more

My boyfriend and I stayed on 13th October for one night. We both felt welcomed by friendly staff here. Nothing was too much trouble for staff. Hot breakfast could be better as there is only scrambled egg, beans and sausage but this did not spoil our stay. We will definitely be back here next time we are in Newcastle. Thanks to all for your hard work!

Stayed here 12th/13th October 2016 for a business meeting nearby. Very friendly and welcoming staff when checking in, couldn't be more helpful. Room was very roomy, double bed, chaise long, flatscreen TV with freeview, shower was excellent and plenty towels provided. The bed deserves a paragraph of its own. Amazingly clean, comfortable and the pillows were like sleeping on a cloud. Breakfast was buffet style. Very quick to get round with plenty of options, even for a fussy eater like myself... Read more

The Holiday Inn Express is located in the centre of Newcastle, very near to the central train station as well as to the stop of the shuttle from the DFDS ferry. It is a modern building with well kept rooms. Our room was relatively small but very practical. Some of the rooms are noisy as a busy road passes by with a lot of traffic and frequent emergency vehicles with their sirens. We had a double window, which kept most of the noise out. You can ask the reception for a more quiet room. The folks ... Read more

Very nice rooms. Clearly a new hotel so everything is clean. Location is the only slight issue. About 5 mins walk from Central Station and a 15 min hike from the Quayside. Not easy to find late at night!

This place does the basics right. Clean throughout. Small but spotless bathroom with a good shower. Firm comfortable bed. Good breakfast. Convenient for the city centre and a multi-story car park on the doorstep. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Look no further.

We arrived here for a 2 night stay as a couple in October. The hotel is easy to find, ideally situated next to a cheaply priced car park and within walking distance of the main shopping area, eateries, bars and the train station. The room we initially had was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast is included within the room price and there is a good selection of food to chose from. On the 2nd night we had a huge issue with other guests smoking in their room above, therefore the smell of ciga... Read more

Had a very good stay in this hotel. It is clean and modern throughout. Excellent location right in the heart of the city. Across the road from the life center and only a couple of minutes walk away from central station. Room was clean and spacious with very comfortable beds. Also had tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer, iron and tv. Breakfast was good and no extra charge. Bar area also good for a few drinks before heading out. I stayed here at the weekend for a friends birthday weekend away! It did the job, central and cheap, great for nights out. Rooms were basic and there was some hair in my shower. Beds were okay but do not expect maximum comfort. Noise levels were high from other people in the rooms around the hotel but I didn't mind as we were doing the same. With the above in mind I would not recommend this hotel for families but definitely for nights out!

I have just returned from a one night trip to this hotel today and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. My mum and I were in Newcastle for a shopping trip and had stayed at this hotel before and wanted to return. We had a twin room which was great value for money including breakfast. Room had everything we needed including tv, hairdryer etc. The location is great as it is only a couple of minutes walk from the train station, five to ten mins to the main shops bars and restaurants. I wouldn't stay here again. It was a very basic run hotel. Not like any of the other holiday inn express chains I've stayed at before. I wish I'd booked premier inn as this reminded me more of a travel lodge

I'm not sure what your expectations are coming to a Holiday Inn, but even so you'd expect your hotel room to be cleaned to a good standard. I stayed at this hotel for 3 weeks on business, at no point during this stay in 3 different rooms did I find the cleaning up to scratch... Week 1: Room was very poorly cleaned or not touched at all, no towels were replaced and rubbish was not cleaned out of the room. On top of this, the room felt like it was going to fall apart. Week 2: Room was poorly cl... Read more
