Arriving in Newcastle at 10:00, I called the hotel to see if an early check-in would be available. The person I spoke to was incredibly friendly and mentioned she would prioritise my room (I had booked at Executive room so this may have helped). Turns out by the time I'd wandered around the BALTIC Contemporary Art Gallery (5min walk) and hopped on the bus from Eldon Square to the Angel of the North (20mins - highly recommend), I checked in an hour or so earlier. Check-in was fast, my key was wa... Read more

The check in time at 3pm is not practical for traveler who travel for more than 7 hours and then he / she has to wait for more than 3hrs as he has already spent in his/ her journey since leaving home almost 12 hrs. The internet is really not much support to meet the expectation.

On arrival the staff were friendly and helpful. We found our room and the view was spectactular, the only thing we could possibly find any fault with was that it was quite chilly. Immaculately clean, everything we could possibly need and quiet apart from the noise of the air conditioning system, which , because it was so chilly in the room we immediately switched off. The £12 charge for parking was a bit much we thought but there again, most hotels are jumping on this band wagon. Breakfast was th... Read more

We booked this hotel for a two night stay from Sunday-Tuesday over the Whitsun Bank Holiday. Check in was prompt and professional. Our Executive suite afforded us fantastic views over the river, her famous bridges, Newcastle castle and St James' Park. We'd arrived at 8.30am so had spent the day (until our 3pm check in) wandering the city and soaking up the local hospitality; most notably in the Pitcher & Piano, Quayside. So, by this time we wanted a few hours of R&R before heading out to dinner... Read more

Hilton is supposed to be a quality hotel. This hotel is fine, good enough for the England team, but ......... The service was fine, the staff were helpful, the room was clean, but lets face it, that's how it should be. The staff corrected the Honours mess created by Hilton Belfast but the bug-bears still exist. Most of Newcastle has free wi-fi but not the Hilton. Duh? While the hotel has great views - if you're one of the 50% lucky enough to get a room on the Tyne side - the resturant is far from a pleasant experience. We stayed as part of a wedding gathering and had a family meal the night before the wedding. My elderly father ordered a salmon starter, which he had to send back, as it was clearly 'passed its best'. He and his wife then spent the rest of the night in severe discomfort, clearly a result of the salmon dish that only they had eaten. The hotel h... Read more

The location of this hotel would not be an issue as its Newcastle and everything is pretty close. What let me down was the standard of the place. Damaged walls, stained carpet, water pooling on the balcony and an area so small it should not be offered as a balcony room. Yes you can get a table and two chairs out there. But can you sit on them without thinking you might fall off? My overall opinion of this hotel are harsh because it is a Hilton and you have to expect to be judged by a higher s... Read more

Staff don't care or listen to pre arrival requests neither do they respond to feedback: everyone should note that mini bars are never filled even when asked. Restaurant staff prefer talking than serving and feedback is ignored

being a big hotel chain there is not lots to say about the decor, any city and county it will probably be the same. It is clean and tidy, no rough edges as in some big chains. Lovely bathroom. The air con as normal was too loud, I switched it off and didn't get cold so impressed. Breakfast was lovely but had one failing, a big one to me as I could eat a plate of them on their own. NO MUSHROOMS at all, not an empty spot, just none. Food was served at the meeting I attended and no fault could be ... Read more

My husband and I stayed here for one night as a little "get away" trip. The hotel was lovely. Afternoon tea was very much enjoyed and then check in was quick and easy. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly too. We loved our room, it had a great view with big windows to enjoy it. Every where was clean and tidy. We used the spa facilities and had wonderful treatments booked that we would definitely have done again. Thank you to Britt and Dani who did a fab job. The spa is a little small... Read more

Booked for a short weekend break while attending a wedding Newcastle. Hotel was in a prime location for town and shops. Only disappointment was exec lounge with quality of some food, instructions on coffee machine and tables that were reserved and not a first come first serve basis, preference seemed to be given to regulars

I had last stayed here some years ago and had good memories of the property (I started here when it first opened and have run couple of events here) so decided to stay here rather than the Newcastle side. I had an executive room on the first floor which was as nice as I remembered - spacious with amazing views of the river and its bridges. I blagged some fresh milk from the Executive Lounge and enjoyed some tea while watching the sun go down from my chaise long. Staff well trained and helpful ... Read more

Great location. Nice large room and comfy bed. Shame residents have to pay for car parking and in room wifi in the 21st century especially when considering the room rates. Noisy aircon with poor control system. Customer does not come first. Would not stay again as not as good value as other places we have stayed in Newcastle.

This is a lovely and immaculate hotel. Staff were very pleasant and the breakfast perfect, the breakfast staff couldn't do enough to help! Only a few minutes walk to the Sage theatre. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Arrived at the hotel which is well signposted. Check in was prompt and of high standard. I stayed for 1 night on a business trip. Room was modern, with a very comfy double bed, good size bathroom and a very impressive modern shower compared to many out dated hotels in the UK! I didn't stay for dinner in the hotel as ventured into the city, due to the location it is ideal to walk into Newcastle and find many bars and restaurants. Drinks in the hotel bar were of high standard with a large cho... Read more

Really like the location of this hotel. Try and call ahead to ask for a river view as the views are stunning. Room was fine if a little sterile, bed a bit stiff. I like the windows though and the concept of the hotel though. Greeting at breakfast was a little awkward though as I'd checked breakfast was included seconds earlier with reception only for the breakfast person to say it wasn't......not great and no apology from this waiter. Breakfast ok but nothing special, lacked mushrooms which is a... Read more

We had a beautiful room with a view of the Tyne Bridge and the service was excellent, staff couldn't do enough for us, we would certainly recommend this hotel. We went with some friends as we hadn't visited Newcastle before, staff were really helpful about advising on places to visit and things to do, we had a relaxing and stress free break.

My friends bought a spa package for my birthday so that the 3 of us could go on 14 November. We arrived and we're told to go to the -1 floor. I genuinely thought that the spa reception was just a make shift one whilst somewhere else was getting revamped or built...no that was it! It just looked so unprofessional for such a good looking hotel. We were then taken for our treatments and I was really uncomfortable walking through a crowded gym to get to the room. I would have thought that the spa wo... Read more

I made a return visit, a couple of days ago, to this hotel as I was again visiting the Sage. It is perfectly placed for this venue. The hotel is on the banks of the river Tyne and has spendid vies of the railway bridge, the swing bridge and the iconic Tyne Bridge. The hotel staff were attentive and polite. The rooms were spacious and had all the 'mod cons' of a 4* hotel. Breakfast and restaurant food was well cooked and well presented. The hotel seemed fairly busy, which is a good sign, and the ... Stayed for one night as a treat but felt a bit let down. I was expecting something a bit special from the room, considering it was the Hilton, but it didn't match my expectation! Staff were all polite and helpful and breakfast was lovely.

It was the first time I had stayed in the Hilton Newcastle with my partner. From arriving to checking out it was a fantastic stay. The executive lounge was a great experience (didn't want to leave) but we had to with having an evening meal booked. The meal was great, couldn't complain about anything (starter, main or desert). I would definately recommend trying the Hilton as we will definately be coming back.

Very well located for visiting the city and the Sage venue. Easy walking into the city for the nightlife and the shopping. We stopped for a saturday night and concert trip, excellent customer service - decent rooms, parking under the hotel so pretty good all round.

Hotel is nice and clean but it was the service and the helpful staff that makes this place a special one. We were in Newcastle to bring my husband's Mum's ashes home. So, the friendliness of the people working here made our trip a comforting experience. We initially booked a double room, but upon check in, we asked if we could upgrade to a bigger bed. I think it helped that I was a Hilton Honors member, but Valerie was very accommodating to our needs and was able to grant our request. We were ha... Read more

To tell the truth, i havent stayed here.... for the very good reason that i have no desire to stay somewhere, where the staff attitude from the very top operations manager down has been so poor. last year I visited their ocean rooms spa which is a franchise in their cellar. see my reviews...it was so dirty and unpleasant that i complained and was given a gift voucher for a return visit. The reason I accepted this was that I bought the visit on a spa website who wouldnt refund. On my second vi... Read more

We stayed for one night and had a room with a very fine view of Newcastle and the Tyne - it was comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was good, with an extensive choice, and the staff were helpful and friendly throughout. This hotel would definitely be our top choice for any future visit to Newcastle.

Apart from the shower needing a bit more pressure, the fact we weren't given a robe and slipper (as advertised but not a big deal) and being conned out of £12 for parking (other people were saying you could just leave and not pay) the stay was excellent! Would definately recommend and stay again!
