This is a well run hotel, with a nice pool and spa. Breakfasts were good but the first night of our stay the main restaurant appeared to be closed and we ate at the adjoining pub. The staff could not have been more helpful when a member of our party felt ill and had to leave, but the food itself was only adequate. The following evening, the main restaurant was already booked and could not take us so we had a light meal in the lounge - it was a peaceful setting and the service was excellent. ... Read more

I'v stayed in this hotel a few times now and have always been impressed, the surroundings are lovely and it's nice to have a walk around the hotel grounds. The rooms have always been immaculate and the staff could not be any more friendly and helpful, it maybe a little "dated" but this fits well with the hotel and adds to the charm. The spa areas is nice with a relaxing atmosphere, and again very helpful and friendly staff. The food in both the restaurant and pub is amazing !! And a very imp... Read more

Linden Hall is a historic Georgian country house hotel. We stayed for three nights in May 2016 on a room only basis. The first room we had was at the back and was very tired. It needed re-decorating and was above a noisy air conditioning vent and the rear exit used by staff to wheel rubbish and laundry out. The main problem though was the size of the window which was too small for the room and low down on the wall so the room had a gloomy feel. As a listed building there is little that can ... Read more

This was our second visit to Linden Hall and overall it was a positive experience. It is in a lovely setting and the village of Longhorsely is very pleasant. This time we stayed in a standard room which was not as nice as the executive room we occupied last time. It just seemed a bit jaded and in need of refurbishment. The bed is not particularly big and had no valance to cover the base, making it look very shabby. It also had some strange curtain thing around the headboard which really was not a... Read more

We stayed here on an Itison voucher which included cream tea and breakfast. The hotel itself is charming, albeit a little in need of TLC. The pool area was good, but the changing rooms were quite dirty. Our room was on the first floor, and the floors were a bit creaky, so you could hear upstairs loudly walking about. We ate in the Linden Tree Pub, the service was ok but the food was nothing special. In the morning we had breakfast in the Dobson Restaurant. The hot food is cooked to order, but wh... Read more

we stayed in the hotel for my sisters wedding, which i can stress enough how friendly the bar staff were in the venue, we paid a large amount of money to stay at linden hall that night expecting a nice room for the price we had paid but what we got was a hot box big enough for a bed and a weird sewage smell. when i approached the night porter we were met with nothing but hostility like we had offended him. we the proceeded to go to the bar which is open all night for a drink, same porter working... Spa awful, dirty, paint peeling, and young girl who did my friends treatment then my treatment had never done them before & was talked through how too before hand. Not Elemis trained. Treatment rooms are the worst I have ever been in. Depressing, stained and music does not work so not relaxing at all. Would not recommend at all.

Not a four-star visit, but three seems a bit mean. This review is in respect of a golf and hotel stay and reflects both aspects. As far as the hotel is concerned, the room we had was very good: not much more to be said - couldn't expect more. The staff were excellent - attentive without being intrusive: a bit harassed in a full restaurant on Sunday evening. (Given that a good number of visitors are golfers, and we do like a pint, I just don't get it why up-market hotels seem to believe that the... Read more

The restaurant is closed Monday to Thursday so you have to eat in the Linden Tree Pub attached to the hotel whilst the pub is fine and food ok you don't except to stay in a 4 star hotel and use the pub for evening meal. We enjoyed our weekend very much especially the spa treatments and facilities and found the hotel staff very helpful. The only complaint would be that there was no mention of only having £25 per person to spend on our evening meal when booking and that only the sample menu was available in the Dobson restaurant on Fridays and Saturdays which was £40. Having said that, we chose the sample menu on our first night which was excellent.

I overall enjoyed my experience but a few items let my stay down. My room location it was above service area and l was kept awake with a fan motor running all night. The Linden Green Bar lacked ttrained staff reguarding to knowledge of products and how to serve them. Food was presented nicely but lacked flavour. Pool and spa facilities were very good.

We recently had a last minute overnight stay, travelling from Hong Kong, with friends who had joined us from the US. I had previous experience with Linden Hall, using this hotel for business functions. Sadly how embarrassing - dinner was only available in the Linden Tree Pub - where the service is severely lacking. Meals served 20 mins apart, no cutlery brought to the table. Having to chase simple kids' desserts. When asked to speak to the manager, I was told that he had 'stepped out' and w... Read more

Spa treatments were great, enjoyed lunch in the pub, (gastro/country pub) wet facilities good, pleased it wasn't busy though as its not huge. 7 course taster evening meal in the Dobson first class and cracking value. Room was lovely. Service throughout was top draw. If I had to be critical of anything I thought the drinks were a little on the pricey side, but when set against the cost of the package I couldn't really complain. Looking forward to next time.

Booked the hotel through Secret Escapes at short notice. We found it to be great value and well worth a visit. Very friendly and helpful staff. Hotel is set in beautiful gardens and woodland. Good good in the pub but will try the restaurant the next time. Hotel is dog friendly.

We visited the hotel as part of a Golf Break, the golf course was in excellent condition. The hotel was very clean and the rooms were of a high standard. The evening meal was excellent in the Linden Tree Pub and we were able to watch the closing round of the US Open in the sports bar. The hotel is set in lovely grounds and Linden Hall is avery impressive building, The very high standard of the hotel was let down by no tea or coffee making facilities in the room, and the very good breakfast food... The room was small but clean and the hotel and grounds are lovely, but we did not have a good experience in the Linden Tree pub where we took the family, there were six of us, the service was slow and our Grandson's meal didn't arrive until after the rest of us had finished eating, we were offered extra drinks and Daniel's meal was taken off of the bill.

Attended the venue two weeks ago with a friend who I was treating to an afternoon tea. Admittedly it was a voucher offer with 'Itison' but still paid nearly £20 for the deal.....so 2 for 1! On arrival thought great as I drove down the long drive, parked up and entered the very charming building! Another lady was being dealt with at the desk but we were directed into another room where someone would come to deal with us. The room itself, was a front room with a bar area......but lacked soul, ... Read more

We came here as part of a secret escapes deal which included cream tea, dinner and breakfast. We upgraded our room to one of the feature rooms and it was lovely. Huge room with a massive bed, robes and slippers and a fruit and chocolate plate. The views were worth the upgrade, we looked out over the entrance and the gardens/golf course. We visited the spa which is small but nice. I can't imagine being here on a busy weekend but as it was mid week and fairly quiet it was lovely. They have a pool,... Read more

The hotel and golf course offer a very good experience. Our overnight stay with two rounds of golf was a pleasure. Typical golf club snacks were available all day but the dining experience was restricted to the integral pub serving average pub food but in a pleasant environment. The better restaurant in the hotel itself was not available as it serves fine dining on Friday, Saturday And I believe Sunday only. We would stay again and certainly recommend the golf break to other golf enthusiasts.

Visited the spa with my best friend on an overnight break. The spa staff were excellent making you feel relaxed and comfortable and the treatments we choose were a real treat. Our hotel room was lovely, everything we needed and beds a were comfy.only disappointment was menu choices on the evening although the Duck salad we had was great.

A shadow of its former self. Very expensive for a very average experience. The hotel is moth eaten. No hand soap in the gents toilets or room, service was average, and the restaurant now closed in the week. I was incredibly disappointed by the whole experience. MacDonald hotels are usually to a pretty good standard, and I stayed at Linden Hall when it used to be owned by Callers Pegasus many moons ago. All trace of 'upmarket' had been replaced with a 'chain hotel' vibe (apart from the price), m... Read more

We were VERY disappointed on arrival to find that the restaurant was closed and we were expected to have our evening meal in the Linden Tree Pub (basically the 19th hole of the golf course) where the food was very average 'pub grub'. We were staying 3 nights and cancelled the evening meal part of our booking after the first night choosing to eat in far nicer local pubs the following two nights. EVERY other guest we spoke to had the same complaint, many of whom were only staying one night to ce... Read more

Fabulous night in stunning Northumberland countryside. Faultless service and top, top quality evening meal. Bite to eat in the pub at lunchtime but we were too lazy to get up for breakfast! Lovely staff throughout.

My boyfriend and I recently (7/8/16) went for our joint birthday treat. The spa treatment was fantastic and left us both very relaxed. The cream tea was very delicious and we scoffed the lot. What was not great was the spa itself. The pool, jacuzzi, steam and sauna were dated with pealing paint, missing tiles and rust. There were not enough seats around the pool so some guests had no where but the floor to put their towels. When we first arrived a large party (hotel guests from a wedding the ... Read more

Golf & Spa experience both excellent but very disappointed the main restaurant only offered a 7 taster menu with no other choices for dinner - had to eat in Linden Pub both nights which was quite good but not what we had planned. Bedroom decoration was a bit "tired" but comfortable enough.

From check in to check out staff courteous and more than helpful. Pub food and service very good although clearer explanation of what was included in the £308 cost for the night should have been advised. We did not use the allocated £25 per head for our meal but we're still charged £17.85 for drinks with meal. Disappointing that is why I marked the value down. Enjoyed the spa experience however areas of this recreational use were not up to 4 star and some cosmetic and refurbishment work wo... Read more
