Well the weather might have been a bit "iffy" but the warmth of the welcome found at the Beech Hill Hotel would be hard to beat. This is a beautifully appointed county house hotel, with comfortable bedrooms and the staff are a credit to the owners. Everyone goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. We stayed on a 2 night package which included dinner one evening. The food was first class and so tasty we ate there again on our second night. We would return here again and recommend this to a... I stayed for two nights at the Beech Hill while on business. From the minute of my arrival until the minute I left the staff were all very helpful and friendly. The gentleman who welcomed me also offered to carry my bags to my room. This was greatly appreciated. The room I stayed in had been recently refurbished and was beautifully decorated, large and spacious. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast menu was extensive and everything was fresh and cooked... Read more

What a great stay we had at Beech Hill Country House Hotel for my husband‚??s birthday. It‚??s lovely to find a hotel that has individuality and values their customers. As a disabled vegan guest (how unlucky was this hotel) we stayed mainly because they offered a vegan menu, which means they already understand vegan guests. They were very welcoming; Ashleigh on front desk couldn‚??t have been more accommodating. After an initial mix up with our room we were offered the choice of a junior suite ... Read more

The rooms were large, elegant but with all the touches of modernity one would require. Dinner was an elaborate affair with a 2/3 course menu. I had steak and it was delicious. The cooked breakfast in the morning was also well executed, especially the eggs benedict. The hotel is located a bit far out of town but has a beautiful huge garden, which will keep one entertained.

We have had two nights here. The decor and furnishings were beautiful. Our room, whilst nicely furnished was a bit on the small side for two people and there was no where to put our two suitcases. Singles on our tour has larger double rooms. It would seem more suitable to put a single traveller in the smaller double rooms and couples in the larger doubles. Meals were very good...delicious but a bit on the expensive side.14 pound for fish and chips. Staff were all friendly and helpful. The garden... Read more

We stayed in superior double with our eleven year old daughter. Beautifully decorated room with an enormous comfortable bed for us and a nice single for her. All facilities you could want. Our son had a value single which was big with a wet room shower, cheaper as in basement but very nice. Grounds with bluebell woods, stream, waterwheel and bridges lovely for a walk. All the staff gave top notch service, receptionist escorted us to room, barman lit fire for us as he noticed we were chilly. Brea... Read more

Beech Hill Country House Hotel makes for an idea stay after a day's drive from Belfast or up from Country Donegal. A large, historic house on immaculately landscaped grounds, it comes with a nice bit of history mixed in -- the US marines stayed here during WWII, documented in an extensive exhibition of photographs and other artifacts in a couple of the common rooms. I stayed in the modern section where the rooms were clean, fairly modern and very large. Both the continental breakfast and dinner... Read more

A charming period hotel, when we arrived we were upgraded, the room was very comfortable and with an outstanding bathroom which was also in character with the house. We went down to dinner and we weren't disappointed! enjoying the view of the garden and waterwheel while we ate. The staff were very welcoming and helpful in a nice relaxed manner. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

There is a lot of history behinfd this very well preserved Hotel and you may find it in dedicated rooms and the photos on the walls! A very charming place surrounded by a park with itineraries for families and children, this hotel offers very well maintained rooms that still conserve a pleasant touch of tradition. The staff is friendly and familiar, always ready to accommodate your requests. To complete the picture I would also recommend the restaurant that is definiteky good value for money!

As a solo traveller you expect to get the smallest, simplest rooms. I was pleasantly surprised to not only have a beautiful room but a beautiful bed, I felt like a princess. The bathroom was wonderful, separate shower and bath. the barstaff before our meal were fantastic and very friendly. The meal was amazing accompanied by a beautiful view of the gardens. After dinner and the next morning there was so much to see, the trails through the grounds, the flowers, the birds and the history. What re... Read more

Booked afternoon tea here for a special celebration and we were very disappointed. The hotel building and grounds are impressive but not their food on this occasion. The room ( restaurant?) was really cold and although we had booked we weren't served for 30 mins after we arrived. We got 3 ham and cheese sandwiches and 3 chicken salad sandwiches. Normally when we go for afternoon tea we get dainty little smoked salmon and specialty sandwiches, these were not dainty or special very ordinary. We... Read more

If it's good enough for the Clintons, who stayed here numerous times, as well as a variety of celebrities, and John Kerry, it's certainly good enough for me. This lovely hotel has beautiful grounds to explore, excellent breakfast and dinner, and very comfortable rooms.

the first experience was that the hotel was beautiful from the outside, the grounds are very beautiful, the receptionist was very welcoming on arrival and she showed us to our room, we traveled as a group of 6 and had 3 rooms and she was very good. our room was number 57 and it was a great room very large, clean, freezing cold at first as all the windows were open but not a problem. as we stayed for 2 nights for a wedding we got a free 3 course meal on the first night, we went down for dinner an... I have visited Beech Hill a number of times on business but this was the opportunity 'for a social'. As ever, the staff are wonderfully attentive and polite, the food is superb and the bar well stocked - this is the only place I drink Guinness. We had the chance to chat with Patsy the owner at length over coffee just before we departed and she was a delightful host, entertaining us with some local stories. We also has an unexpected guided tour round the outside wedding marquee which had just com... Read more

This was our second stop and a nice treat, coming from a B&B. The property is gorgeous and you should explore -- take a photo or two. The rooms are quite comfortable and large, including the bathrooms. We waited in the lounge while the room was being readied and our luggage was there when we were notified it was ready. Overall, I think the location is perfect - just outside of Derry and more rural. Easy access to Derry and heading to Malin Head, which is what we did our second day.

The hotel is a lovely and impressive old building located in a well maintained park. Impressive arrival. Unfortunately we had to wait about half an hour for the lady at the reception to finish her phone call. She could have put it on hold for 30 seconds and invite us to wait at the bar. I found this rather unprofessional; a disappointing start. Due to the poor weather we arrived early before our room was ready and nevertheless received a complimentary upgrade from superior room to a suite. Apolo... Read more

We traveled all through Ireland and this hidden gem in Northern Ireland is beyond beautiful! From the first time we laid eyes on it as we drove up the drive, we fell head over heals in love! The staff is super friendly and we had a sweet girl not only help us with our luggage, but show us to our room. The grounds are immaculate and the hiking trails are a like walking in Paradise! My husband and I stayed here at the beginning of July for my birthday, and it was lovely! The staff were superb and can't do enough to help you, and made my birthday extra special with little touches. If you're looking for minimalist and modern this hotel isn't for you but otherwise it's a definite recommendation!

We only stayed here 1night. To say it is off the beaten path is an understatement. The main house is very pretty, as is the dining room & bar area. Our room was ok, the bathroom was tiny & cramped & the bed just ok. Food was good & staff was attentive.

I stayed here in July 2016. The grounds are spectacular and the the hotel is elegant. The restaurant was fine dining. My issue was with my room (#36). When I checked into my room i noticed something unsettling in my bathroom. The top window pane is clear. Directly outside my bathroom window was a ladder going up to a roofline. If I opened the window I could have touched it. Though probably not being used I felt very uncomfortable having this in such proximity to my bathroom left me une... Read more

We stayed here for one night touring through Ireland. Very eclectic house. On the down side we had to carry our bags up 3 floors, which wasn't easy...but the staff was very gracious & attentive. Our room was a bit odd with a claw-footed tub in the middle of the room with a tiny shower in the bathroom. We were unsure about dinner, as it seemed to be a couple of large tour groups & us. But the food was very good & the bar was lovely & laid-back.

Dated and untidy. But I feel sad for this hotel.. its such amazing grounds and amazing building if only it got a bit of love and tidied up and freshened on inside.. very tired hotel :( Windows old wooden and bathroom melgew between tiles and bed broken and sofa falling apart. Very disappointing stay for a very very high price. Won't be back unless modernised to a high standard!!

We got to the Beech Hill much later in the day than I wish we had because we only have one night here. What a great place to get to visit! The grounds are lush and beautiful, the rooms are big and comfortable and newly updated, and the staff couldn't be better - everyone from the front desk to the wait staff to the bartenders...Everyone was friendly, helpful and above reproach! Wish we could stay longer. Job well done for sure!

For my Mum's 60th Birthday I wanted to treat her to an enjoyable afternoon tea with her sisters and her mother. In my online search to find 'The Best Places to have an Afternoon Tea' , Beech Hill appeared in the trusty Tripadvisor list. The first post I read featured four words that sparked my interest for planning an extra special get together: 'Just Like Downton Abbey'! I am SO GLAD I booked Beech Hill as the location for my Mum's celebration. Not only was it indeed 'Just Like Downton Abbey'... Read more

I stayed here for one night and booked a heritage room through hotels.com. Upon arrival I was informed by a nervous looking receptionist that due to the fact that there was a wedding I had been moved to the other side of the hotel so that I wouldn't hear the noise (this I would soon discover was a lie to cover up the fact that they had overbooked the heritage rooms). I was taken down to the basement to a 'classic room', what is promoted on the hotel's website as ideal for "people on a budget", i... Read more

We had our wedding here and so had family staying including ourselves and it was perfect. The food is beautiful and the staff are so helpful. Look out for the deal including an evening meal on the first night and breakfast it really makes the stay. It's only a short distance away from a aupermarket and not long past that for Derry itself. All in all the setting of the venue, the staff and the food all made our special day perfect!

Stayed at the Beech Hill Country hotel while traveling in Ireland. It's located a bit out of town but was worth the effort to find and stay in. The accommodations were wonderful and the rooms were exceptionally large and very clean. The location was quiet and restful as the hotel is located back from the road in a park like setting. The food in the restaurant was also very good and the menu offered a nice selection. Would definitely stay there again.
