Actually paid and booked a suite with kitchenette was 'upgraded' to a smaller room? I asked and he replied 'this is upgrade' although it clearly wasn't. I even checked online once home and the room we had was a cheaper than room actually book and paid for. It was set up for one person so only one bathrobe and slippers - we only realised this as my partner got out of the shower in the morning by which there was no point asking for more. The minibar was dirty with food stains and hair, again only ... Read more

Just back from my first stay with them in 2017. Everything is great as usual. Planning for Feb visit now... impressed with their new breakfast venue. Convenient and good quality. Big thanks to the hotel team and their manager :)) always make things perfect

Well this didn't go very well. First, they tell you your room is on the other side of the street, no pedestrian crossing - try not to be hit by taxi. The rooms are very small, which is to be expected in London, but also very poorly designed even if new. In bathroom, no place to lay your toiletries, even those of a man. Toilet bowl mechanism broken, water running constantly. Lucky to have found a trick to press the button in such a way as to stop water flow. The only towel holder next to shower i... Read more

So booked The Montcalm at Brewery London City through for 3 nights in between Christmas & New Year, myself & teenage daughter Was pleasantly surprised when we arrived outside the discreet but chic entrance, lovely entrance, all water feature & chandeliers Issue at check in, beware that full payment is required at check in and not at check out which I wasn't prepared for, however sorted that and was unfortunately shown over the road to a different building to the lovely one we thought... Stayed here overnight, we were upgraded on arrival and had a lovely welcome card in our room waiting for us. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The bed was extremely comfortable, to the point I've bought the mattress topper they used! Room was clean and the toiletries in the bathroom were very nice and not cheap and nasty which is a change! The breakfast next door at the Jugged Hare which was provided with the room was very lovely. At the price point and location you really couldn't ask f... Read more

I came to this Hotel last year around the same time, and I was very well looked after by all the staff that I had dealings with. My room was lovely, and left with a birthday card and wine. So I thought I would stay here again, and could not fault it again, all the staff were great, but I have to especially thank a certain young lady by the name of Alice, who was faultless, very professional, nothing was too much trouble, always so happy and helpful, would certainly recommend this hotel, and woul... We were upgraded one level, so that was a good start of a weekend. We understood we already had a great deal, so we were a bit lucky with that I think. The room was beautiful, with your own kitchen. Not that we used it, but still. The shower was great, built into the ceiling. The bed was comfortable. A bit harder then we were used to, but I liked it. Of course there is free wifi, but the best thing available for a tourist not from the UK is the "Handy". A mobile phone (Android) with free 4g inte... Read more

We stayed 3 nights and rooms are beautiful, staff and very helpful and friendly! The staff also left a birthday card and chocolates in the room as one of the nights was my birthday. Totally surprised and appreciated such a nice thought. Location is great and look forward to stay here again!

The hotel is fine in all except one aspect. The rooms are clean, well furnished and the staff are attentive. The only thing that really pissed me off was the continental breakfast service in the morning. The breakfast room is way too small for the number of guests and there was a line of people waiting to be seated. The 2 ladies at the breakfast room avoided all eye contact with the people waiting in line and just kept walking in and out of the room where the food was kept and the room where the... Read more

The hotel is conveniently located right across the street of Barbican Centre in an old building. The hotel has three parts, as far as I know. The first time I stayed in the main building, which was not totally convenient as you have to go up and down to get to the room and it was very confusing. The second time I checked in, I was placed to the building opposite to the main building, and my colleague was to another place that was five minutes by taxi! Other than the hassle of that, the hotel its... Read more
