Decently sized rooms with very comfortable bedding and pillows. Had a deluxe room with sofa bed which made it feel spacious as well. Great to have proper blackout curtains that are taped to the wall so no light sneaks in from the side. One weird quirk is no fridge in the room - there was a trouser press in the space that the fridge normally would be which is very British! You can tell this hotel has its housekeeping processes down pat with managers strolling the floors mid afternoon checking tha... Read more

I stayed in a standard room for 4 nights in November 2016. PROS (1) 3 minutes to Russell Square station, and near a mall which has a huge Waitrose. Also walking distance to Tottenham court. Also several cafes nearby. Great base camp for a holiday. CONS (1) Grumpy reception staff that appeared a bit hostile. I took out all my booking forms to make it convenient for him and was told off for "confusing him". Come on, I'm trying to make your life easier here! (2) Rooms are small and not very well ... One night stay as we were going to the theatre 10 mins walk away (Shaftsbury Ave)- really impressed with location, buffet breakfast and rooms. This is in a lovely area - lots of really good pubs, restaurants and a mini shopping centre next door. Ideal for one night break as you can easily walk to key London shopping/entertainment areas. Will definitely use again when staying in central London

Booked a last minute short stay for a visit to the West End. We arrived on the day of a Tube strike so it was a god send that the hotel is only 10-15mins walk from St Pancras and easy to find. I was impressed by the array of local amenities - shops, restaurants & bars all so close. If you forgot to bring anything there is a Tesco Express, Boots, Superdrug and a whole array of local stores, bakery's & grocers on the doorstep. There's an Irish bar onsite and another bar on the opposite corner whic... Read more

This is just another example of a good HI hotel which is let down by the food quality. Top prices being charged for below standard quality. I use HI all the time and really appreciate the room std and friendliness of staff but the food is just not right! This evening I chose the butternut squash soup followed by a t-bone pork chop with some extras. The soup was so salty, I had one mouthful and sent it back. The main course was absolutely not a T-Bone chop that said it was tasty. The issue was t... Read more

Its a standard, comfortable hotel. What makes it special is the people that work there. Like the cleaning lady that handed in my phone when I left it there in December. And the endless folk who checked that I had retrieved it on my next trip in January. Like Mick who fixed the TV remote I dropped. Like Gary ( the concierge I think) who went out of his way to make sure I got to the airport at some Godforsaken hour despite the tube strike. Great customer care. Thank you all.

As a treat for my birthday my boyfriend booked us a night (3-4 Jan) in an Executive Room. There was nothing special about the room. For an Executive Room it was very small, the room and the bathroom. I have stayed in bigger double rooms at other Holiday Inn Hotels (Amsterdam Arena). The room was fairly clean but unfortunately we found someone's used underwear on the radiator. We were obviously very disappointed by this and after it was removed all we were offered was a free drink at the bar! Un... Read more

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a central place to stay in London. The location was excellent and the Russell Square tube station was at the back of the hotel so very convenient for getting around. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was lovely. Would certainly return.

Stayed one night for business, glad I wasn't paying if the rates in reception are anything to go by! Good location and main reception areas clean and functional. Room was quite small though bed comfy and I wasn't going to be spending much time there. Breakfast was good so overall what you would expect, just thankful I didn't have to pay the walk in price!

The hotel is located two minutes on foot from Russell Square tube. It's a convenient location for the British Museum etc. The hotel lobby/reception is up to date and bright and well maintained. Check in was quick and hassle free. There are plenty of shops, bars, cafes and places to eat in the local area. I really don't understand why people eat in hotels (especially chain hotels) when there are so many excellent choices close by. The room was small and the bed was too, but it was clean and funct...
