Writing this while travelling home on the train. This hotel was exactly what we wanted... A bed to lay our heads after sightseeing. The bed was very comfortable, other people were very respectful of guests so there was no noise at all. Shower was lovely, room was very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely return. Thank you for making our trip to London easy. It's half the battle when you have a good, reliable place to stay.

The highlights - great location for Shoreditch & Hoxton Square, friendly and efficient staff, spotlessly clean. But...I can't help thinking this hotel in particular has been left behind by the HIE chain. The finishes are dated (not in poor condition, just not what you'd expect from a modern hotel), the beds are rock hard, the air conditioning is noisy, and the noise from the plumbing kept me up at night. It's a real shame, as this hotel is perfectly located for an office I need to attend regular... Read more

I have stayed here on several occasions, as my office is nearby. That's pretty much the only reason. It's convenient, it has beds and bathrooms, it's secure. However, the WiFi is terrible (500kbps max even for IHG Platinum members) and you'll be lucky to get that in the evenings. Staff are friendly and efficient, but let down by a hotel that needs a make-over and some personality putting into the rooms and common area. And better Internet!

Hotwire booking - much cheaper than the official Holiday Inn website, broadly the same price as a travelodge would have been, with the bonus of a free breakfast. Unfortunately, I arrived to be told that no double rooms were available, and was allocated a twin. It was late, and I was too tired to argue. Room was fresh, sensible temperature - no air conditioning issues others have mentioned. I'm tall - and don't really get on with single beds anyway - these were of the small sort (3ft beds) and ... Sad to say I had a bad stay in Room 121 here mostly because of how little sleep I had. The first night I stayed the AC was making loud noises all night which kept waking me up and my matress was awful. I let a member of staff know about both issues and they said they would take action. The AC was much better the second night but the matress was still just as poor. I have mild lower back pain so found it extremely difficult to find a comfortable position. The rooms were pretty ok, a bit small. But not bad for 2 night stay. Location's convenient. There's a couple of bus stops nearby. Rooms were clean and showers were spotless. We booked this hotel as there's a bus that would take us to the theater area to see Les Mis.

Stayed here for 3 nights for business. Really enjoyed the location and the overall layout of the hotel. Rooms are good. Roomy and nice bathroom. Blankets are a bit warm, window hardly opens and air conditioning is a bit noisy. Breakfast isn't very good and the coffee is AWFUL! On the plus side: because of its great location there are plenty places to have a decent breakfast around.

We were pleasantly surprised by how the nice our room was, adequate space, nicely decorated, huge bed, nice bathroom, everything was clean. The aircon made a lot of noise and on our first night we hardly had any sleep due to this and getting used to outside sounds, the hotel does provide earplugs in the rooms - we should of taken the hint. The bed was big and i thought comfortable but I believe it was the cause of my back ache for a week. the room is made up everyday and fresh towels are provide... Read more

You dont expect much when you book a weekend stay at a holiday inn express but I was pleasently surprised. The rooms are modern, clean and spacious. The bathroom and shower were great. The breakfast was the usual buffet afair but hot and plentiful. The location is a winner, close to bus and underground. Walkable to Spitafields and Brick Lane and loads of bars and places to eat. for a weekend out and about in London its perfect.

Great price for a night in a great location for our plans. A nice surprise was how big the room and bathroom were. So many rooms these days are so tiny there is hardly any move to room, this however was great. Massive shower, comfy bed and loads of Windows to look out over Shoreditch below. Would definitely recommend, but maybe avoid the lifts as they took so long to arrive it would be quicker walking. That's the only negative though.

except of the location i would not recommend to stay in this hotel. Hotel's interior looks like the set of the "shining" old and ragged. there was no check upon entering the hotel so basically anyone could go in. my room was facing the street - not fun at all. No closet, mini fridge or any toiletries were provided. the air conditioning was problematic. i had a lot of problems with the concierge (service quality not attitude) . breakfast is very basic and repeated itself daily.

I'm used to to staying in 4* hotels, and I'll admit to being worried about staying at Holiday Inn Express. Why? I have no idea! This place is INCREDIBLE. From price, to actual value for money and everything in between this place is above and beyond the place you want to stay this summer, or at any time for that matter. The location is steps away from the tube, spitting distance from THE places to see and be seen, and it's 100% accessible and noise-free. Breakfast is included in the price and it'... Read more

This hotel is in London Zone 1 whcich is VERY important for your stay because you will save a lot of money in underground and taxi/uber payments. The quality-price ratio is very positive mainly because of the position. The hotel itself is a real 3 stars, clean and modern. Room are OK and space is not big but average for London standards. I stayed for 7 days, by myself, for business. The room was a really good size, very affordable for London, free breakfast not bad, great location for tech city & 2 minutes walk to Old Street Tube. There's not much light in the room so not great for applying makeup, and no proper wardrobe, just some limited hanging space. All in all pretty good for the price, particularly for business but probably not a great location for tourists.

I found this place quite underwhelming compared to other Holiday Inns. It was comfortable enough, and clean enough. But there were some stains on the carpet, and the bathroom was tired and could have done with some regrouting. Perfectly functional, and very reasonably priced for the location, but not somewhere I will be rushing back to.

The rooms were clean and comfortable apart from the air condition being a bit noisy .Breakfast was good with a good variety to choose from. I've stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions. It's less than a five minute walk from Old Street tube station so it's a good location if you're working in Hackney or the City of London. The interior is a bit tired when compared with some of the contemporary Holiday Inn/express hotels but it is clean and the facilities are adequate. The bar is basic but functional But not always manned during the day. It's not ideally suited for ad hoc business meetings and the restaurant area can be li... Read more

Stayed at this hotel over a very busy Halloween weekend. Check in was a bit messy as the rooms were not ready and we were put on different floors when they were ready. Rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. Ear plugs were provided in one of our rooms as they were having a problem with the air conditioning. The buffet style breakfast which is included in the price was very filling and the choice was excellent. Overall I would recommended this hotel as a base for exploring London.

The hotel is near center and 2 min away from the Old Street tube station which connects quickly to all possible lines - 4/5. The room was clean 3/5, breakfast was ok 3/5 but the soft pillows, funny tags and the handy helped for another point. It is a great touch of the hotel to place a mobile phone which you can use around London with free calls and free internet.

The best thing with this hotel is it's location. Nearby Old Street Station and not far from Kings Cross railway station, it ideal if you want to get to airports early in the morning. I wouldn't say I was impressed by the quality, but the essential was there, except one ting again.. no really hot water at evening time. But again, this is quite typical for the places I've been so far. No wonder the British never shower after 5 o'clock tea.. unless they like "kind of hot" water. I noticed a weir... Read more

We stayed at the hotel in October for two nights. It was a great place to stay in London for a quick visit to the city. It is not far from the London underground and is opposite the bus stop to the city. So it was indeed a good place to stay. The staff are excellent and very helpful to find your way around London. A sufficient breakfast as well. Superb quality and value for money. Keep up the good work.

Got a very inexpensive deal on a room for Sunday night. Very competitive for a hotel in this location. Especially as the room (228) was much larger than I had anticipated at the price. Friendly reception staff, made to feel welcome straight away. I've got a Blue Badge and was told I could use their disabled space for no charge. Excellent. Went to a concert 2 minutes walk away and enjoyed a good nights sleep with a choice of pillows. Tea/coffee making stuff in the room. Bathroom perfectly fine. ... Read more

Great value, great room, and I had a corner room with a fantastic view of the main street. Easy, clockwork stay. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful except one who made me feel like I was a criminal when I asked for a replacement key card.

Room was large by European standards, and nicer than HOliday Inn Express locations I've stayed at in the States. It appears to have been recently updated (or recently built). Breakfast was good, although the breakfast room did get completely over run on the weekend. Good location overall, walking distance to restaurants, pubs, art, and tube station.

£155 per night mid week out of season seemed very high given that this is not one of London's better areas. The room was fine, well enough appointed and although it was facing the road I wasn't aware of the traffic noise which others have complained about. Despite signs stating soft and hard pillows all four were definitely hard and eventually I resorted to doing without a pillow. Breakfast was sufficient to start the day although it would have been nice to have had some cereal bars or simil... Read more

I am back again, and glad that things have not changed. The location is excellent, near lots of busses and Old Street Tube station. I travelled this time from Paris, and St Pancras is only two stops away on the Northern Line. The rooms are very clean as usual, and the breakfast is varied and great. Free internet service is fast and reliable. If I have a recommendation to make, it would be to add Sky News and CNN to the free tv available in every room. As for the staff, they are just as expected... Read more

Stayed here for one night, pleasantly surprised by the size of the room. Other hotels I have stayed in in London would try to cram 2-3 rooms in that space! What was weird though was that the bed in the room was one of those pull down beds from the wall. I get that a hotel might have that as an additional bed, but as the main bed? It was very creaky! Otherwise, all good. Nice breakfast in the morning, great location.
