We stayed on Saturday 21st May to visit the Good Food Show at ExCEL and then onto Cafe Namaste in the evening, (4 adults, 2 x 2 rooms)... Very friendly staff, efficient check in, nice big room with a riverview, bathroom a little small but had everything you needed and was nice and clean. Breakfast was included and good, a bit hectic but the hotel was busy... Excellent free boat service across the Thames to Canary Wharf and return, very handy!

This is an absolutely lovely hotel. I booked it as a treat for myself, having never stayed in a Hilton before. I made my way from the Underground by bus which was as advertised, a 10 minute journey and it was announced. I arrived in Reception and was dealt with by a lovely gentleman whose name I unfortunately didn't write down. I asked if it was possible to have a room overlooking the river, he smiled and offered me a room with a balcony giving a side view. I was also then given a warm chocolate... Read more

The hotel is far away from Central London, but with the ferry there is an easy acces, the Thamesclipper will bring you quick and comfortable to central London. Daughters (as under10) ate free in restaurant in evening. The hotel had a great family atmosphere & welcome. Really lovely meal. Breakfast one of the most extensive I've ever seen. The Doubletree by Hilton London Docklands was a great choice of accommodations for 8 nights in late May that made our trip more enjoyable and memorable. I carefully chose this hotel after researching rooms that would comfortably accommodate 2 adults and multiple kids. We chose a two-bedroom room that was comfortable for all of us, including a roll away bed in the second bedroom. I found the rooms quite large. We chose this hotel on the Columbia docks as it is a short rail or clipper boat ride from all the sites in London. No worries about parking and the fees associated with it. The hotel provides a free shuttle boat ride across the Thames were you can catch the river clippers, above ground rail, or the underground. The hotel has been newly renovated, is very clean, and provides a more than adequate free breakfast. The Staff was helpful, friendly, and went out of their way to make us feel at home. If... What a find, we really enjoyed this hotel, the water taxi was great as we used the Thames water boats to get about most of the time, we did catch a bus to the tube once, but enjoyed being on the river more. Our room was on the small side and had a very tiny glimpse of water but it was comfortable and quiet. breakfast was good, the staff were all excellent and overall good value for money

I nearly gave this hotel a 3 star after an unhelpful encounter at reception when we arrived on Friday night. The Asian lady who tried to book us in was not receptive when we tried to explain we were there with our cousin who had booked 2 separate rooms with a view of the river. She then proceeded to charge us an extra £150 on top of our bill as some sort of insurance so we would not run off I guess. Most unusual and never encountered on our 8 weeks of travel. Stayed here the weekend just gone for 1 night. Had a bit of grief on the phone prior to staying and was given an upgrade from a Queen room to a 'King Deluxe'. Fantastic, I thought! Oh my, if I had paid for that 'King Deluxe' room I would've asked for my money back. Small room, very small bathroom, was clean and tidy but just lacked any sort of major decor and in places needed a bit of TLC. It certainly wasn't King, nor deluxe, and that's comparing it to a Queen room at the Double Tree Tower Brid... Read more

Rooms are interesting, as I don't think this hotels buildings (three connected by walkways over old docks) were designed for being a hotel. But, that doesn't mean they're not nice rooms. Linens are amazing, as is the bed. The bath rooms are small, but that's not unlike most hotels in any big city. Some rooms have balconies, which is nice. Ok, so this Hilton is the wrong side of the river at Canary Wharf - but there is an excellent dedicated riverboat to get you to the other side, or hop onto the excellent Thames riverboat service. Bit of a walk to get back to the tube or DLR (but the City area is very safe for walking), and there is a good selection of restaurants on the north side of the river - our favourite is Le Secret des Rôtisseurs for authentic French dining. It is a bit far and takes a bit longer to get to especially when we are flying in from Heathrow. So location is not the greatest. However, the hotel is lovely with a nice room. The room is a good size and comfortable. The welcome cookie is a hit with my children in particular. I do recommend staying there if where it is warmer (it was still cold end of June!). It is chilly when you have to wait for the ferry.

This is a good hotel with a great view over canary wharf with excellent complimentary ferry service. Negatives are and not sure all rooms are like this but the large tvs will not swivel out from wall (well only a slight acute angle) in order to view from bed. A recent makeover has much improved the rooms. I have avoided this place for quite a while given previous issues with being dated, hot water issues, and the perceived inconvenience of getting a ferry over to Canary Wharf. We booked a refurbished room with a river view. The river could be seen if you stuck your head out of the window and looked right. The website claims the room had recently been refurbished. I am not sure what recently means but the furniture was tired and the bathroom showed the usual signs of lack of care with the sealant around the bath worn etc...The bed linen looked nice and new so maybe this is refurbished? As part of a birthday celebration, a group of 6 of us had bought a voucher for cocktails on the Riverside Terrace. Unfortunately due to major building works on the river front, the terrace did not seem to be open as we were shown to the bar just off the reception area. It was the usual lounge area with a tv and a couple of guys watching the football. However, I have to say that the cocktails were fabulous (try the cosmopolitan!) and such brilliant value. We also ordered a couple of bread board... Read more

I had a really great stay at this hotel. The staff was very pleasant. The room and shower was simply gorgeous. The bus stop is one minute walk away which runs frequently and takes 15 minutes to the tube station. The only complaint would be that free internet is for members only even though my booking through 3rd party booking service said the internet was included. They reluctantly gave me the free internet afterwards though. Overall great experience!

I believe we were unlucky because we happened to be at the Doubletree Docklands Riverside during a very busy weekend, but the hotel is not cheap so the lack of performance and attention we experienced is not really justified.
