Bought 2 nights at hotel via groupon deal. All the seafront hotels freshly painted and look lovely.Grand Hotel stands on it own like a Dracula castle, screaming for some paint and tlc. Needs huge investment! Our room on 5th floor was very dated (but with sea view!) Creaking floorboards - found them kind of romantic. But didnt imagine that nowadays theres a hotel with NO shower, just bath! But missing shower wasnt issue as there wasnt any hot water at the weekend anyway! It could be cracking hote... Read more

My best man and I stayed here on the Friday night as my wife to be was staying in our house with the girls. Upon arrival we discovered that it was extremely tired and in desperate need of a revamp. We walked into our room to discover that none of the lights worked. Fortunately we were sampling the fine nightlife of Llandudno, so we dropped our bags and left. In the morning I attempted to go for a shower to find that there was no hot water. I called reception off my mobile (no phones in rooms) ... Read more

Booked for 3 days for my husbands birthday as a premier guest. Hotel pleasant but very tired. Room decor could be better and food very average. First night OK but then the boilers broke and we had no heating or hot water and at one point, no water at all. Was told it would be fixed but it wasn't. The entertainment on an evening was OK but could do to liven it up a bit. Informed the hotel was having to close on the Sunday due to boiler. We were offered 25% of the bill but not received as yet. Stayed here for 2 nights on a Groupon offer hence cheap. The hotel is clean throughout but is definitely in need of some tlc but would probably need a lot of cash to bring it up to standard. It overlooks the pier and bay so in a good position. We were allocated a room that took into account by husband's mobility problem. The staff could not have done any more to make our stay easier. The food is quite poor really - sufficient but no flavour. Breakfast is very basic - just adequate. The meal timi... Read more

We have stayed at the grand hotel before and knew what to expect. Seen some bad reviews for the grand but we have no complaints. Yes it is a bit dated but so are the majority of large hotels in Llandudno. After all it was a victorian resort. Still great for a holiday.

My wife and I decided on a last minute break over the Bank Holiday weekend. I knew of the Grand Hotel from many years ago and as it came up on Booking.com we decided to book. Whilst the hotel is basically clean, the rooms comfortable and the staff excellent. The building need a major refurbishment. It looks and feels tired and dated. The decor is decidedly tired and in quite a few areas tatty, wallpaper hanging off and damp patches. Outside it is quite scruffy. We ate in the restaurant on the Su... Read more

Clean but very dated place all over. Great staff! Lack of towels, windows thick with grime in the main areas. Not worth the price. Lots of breakfast but quality was poor and nothing much for kids. Couldn't eat on all the free tables by the view of the sea, not sure why but odd! Our room was ready but we couldn't get in till 3.50pm we got there at 11am. So paid £100 for a family room from 3.50pm too 10am the next morning. Should have been £60. Wouldn't choose to stay here again.

This once Grand hotel is very much sadly in demise. Not helped by Britannia's approach in failing to invest in its buildings. Yes, this is a budget hotel, but its standards fall below most budget chain hotels. Check in was OK, but staff lacked polish in customer satisfaction. Bedroom was a reasonable size and bed comfortable. Sea view with small balcony and the view is quite something. However, furniture and fittings tatty. Balcony showing signs of rust. We booked a deal that included dinner and a premium sea view room for less than the cost of B&B. The room was tidily painted (albeit wood chip), clean and had a nice balcony for two with the promised sea view. I wanted to love everything about it, we love Llandudno and the weather was on our side but if I'm honest there is a lot of truth in the criticism detailed before my review. On arrival was allocated a room so small I could touch all four walls with my arms outstretched, mouldy ceilings, scratched furniture you name it got it. Forced to upgrade at cost (of course) for a room in which I would certainly leave my dog. Could not use shower as tap was broke to change from tap to shower. Took us a while to park as no parking but managed to get a space close after a few laps up and down street! The bed was clean an comfortable and the location was beautiful. The rest of the hotel needs major work however. The wallpaper was peeling, the skirting was covered in dust, the door to the lift machinery was covered in greasy fingerprints. Nice to have a balcony with a beautiful view, shame it was covered in bird crap. We didn't eat at the restaurant, the hygiene sticker in the window advertised it as 3/5. Stayed at this hotel over the bank holiday weekend can say we were very disappointed. When we arrived the reception staff were really nice i asked were we could park and were told we have to find a space on the streets, on the website it does state that parking is available maybe i was a bit naive thinking they had their own car park it took my husband at least half an hour to find somewhere to park i think they should make this clear on their website that you have to find your own parking space... God knows when the hotel opened but don't think it's been decorated since! It smelt damp and musty the carpets didn't even match they had attempted to lay new carpet next to old carpet so it didn't even match! The walls had ripped wallpaper holes and stains on. Very run down. Never a three star lucky if it makes two. Bathroom had 'old' gaffer tape across the floor and the shower was rusty. Then there was no hot water anyway. Needless to say we didn't use it. Tea and coffee making facilities was the cheapest possible. Every time we were in the lobby someone else was complaining about their room or the food. The only thing going for it is the location.

We stayed here for 2 nights in mid-August, and the location is EXCELLENT, right on the seafront and near the entrance to Llandudno pier. So, it's 2 mins walk to the beach, 5 mins walk to Mostyn Street, 1 min walk to the pier. Good stuff. The hotel is rather old-fashioned - clean, but bordering on run-down. Breakfast (at extra cost) is decent, with a full English selection, as well as cereals, etc. However, the hotel is VERY popular with the much older crowd, which we found can be a bit poss... My fourth visit to the grand I quite like it though I can understand why a lot of people may think the place is a bit jaded. The room cost £133 for a sunday/monday stay. The room this time was clean and did not smell funny and the furniture looked modern rather than old worldy stuff I have seen before. The location of the hotel and view from the balcony earned the room extra point as I could see across Llandudno both north and south side. Though had to knock one point off as the TV receptio... Stayed one night in a standard room which was surprisingly large with lovely view of the Orme and sea without having to pay the extra £20 for a sea view. The exterior of the hotel looked tired and jaded, a lick of paint and some maintenance to crumbling verandas would enhance it. Hospitality tray was generous, but cleanliness needs improving in the rooms. I didn't try the food so can't comment on this or the nightly entertainment which seem to cater for the older generation.
