I stayed at this hotel as I was attended a wedding a couple of weeks ago. Arriving at the hotel the night before we met up with family and friends to eat in the restaurant which overlooks the beautiful gardens. The food was both good.value and quality. The organisation of the wedding by the hotel staff was very professional and the day and night could not have been better. - I was astonished by the decor of the function room. Liverpool was very busy the weekend we were visiting so choices were limited. Given that we paid a low price, I wasn't expecting much from this hotel but even then I was disappointed. The exterior and reception are nice, but the hallways and room were grim. The room didn't feel clean, there were damp patches and holes in the wall, as well as broken furniture. It was extremely noisy with wedding parties both nights going on until the small hours - with thin windows and the wedding guests smoking... Read more

Lovely outer appearance but ran down and needs work inside. The room was very small and bedroom like, no bath in the room as advertised on the website, extremely creaky bed which probably woke up those downstairs with every turn. There was a kettle provided which required several washes due to floaters and dirty cups. Will not be returning.

The architecture of the building is quite interesting. We had a family room 208 which was on the second floor. Large double bed & two singles. The room was clean & tidy. Hotel is hard to locate as hidden behind derelict building. Room tired and outdated. Breakfast more like a transport cafe. Poor girl serving (on her own) had to sort out running out of toast/coffee/eggs etc. Poor cleaning standard of outside hotel. Fag ends and burger cartons left outside from night before. Comfy bed however and quiet. Staff do offer 10% discount on next visit. Will not be taking this up!!

Booked for one night and was glad that it was only one night. Looked ok from the outside but once past reception found that it was tired and a bit run down! Needs lots of TLC to bring it up to standard. The room I had was smelly. I'm sure someone had been smoking in the room (I am an ex smoker!) with little effort to freshen it up! It was clean but very tired looking. Breakfast was adequate. Sausage totally tasteless! Years ago you expected this in a cheap B and B but now serving such poor qu... Read more

Me and my partner booked here with a friend to stay overnight as another family member was taking part in a charity boxing event in Liverpool. We booked through lastminute.com which I recommend NOBODY DOES. Anyway after arriving at the hotel to check in after paying £140 for 2 double rooms we where told there was no record of our booking and they don't book through that website (why is it still on there allowing people to book rooms and pay money?)- we waited over an hour in reception for this ... This Hotel is very well signposted I found it easy even without my satnav. Upon arrival I found the staff to be friendly and check in was very easy, As others have already said on the reviews here the hotel could do with a lick of paint and a bit of TLC, but to be honest we found our room to be warm and very spacious, it was clean and had everything you needed [hairdryer, tea & coffee etc..]. It was nice to see a new 42inch TV mounted on the wall and most of all the FREE wifi was excellent very ... Read more

The Devonshire House Hotel is a peaceful oasis in an urban area, close to all of the amenities of Liverpool. The room was spacious and comfortable and the hotel is set in pleasant grounds. Breakfast is help yourself buffet and there is a reasonable choice of cooked items. All in all. good value for money, and a great base from which to explore this vibrant and exciting city.

Decorated nice, food was fine. Need more staff on the bar. The older woman serving was miserable. It's gonna be busy with an all inclusive bar. She needs to realise that we have already paid for the drinks and not have a face like a smacked backside! Isn't it sad how a few staff an put a damper on the evening. I should have put in a complaint! Manners don't cost anything. It was a soul night, entertainment was good. Also good choice of music.
