We stayed here for one night costing £171 for one night and breakfast for 2 adults and 1 child, so I thought it would be a great experience. However, we were really disappointed. The room was dated to say the least, and one of the beds had a really sagging mattress, which was not comfortable. Also the bathroom was very small and the water in the shower constantly went from hot to freezing. Breakfast was less than impressive. The choice of food was small, especially for vegetarians or pescataria... Read more

The stay was ok but a few things let the place down. There is really poor soundproofing, thankfully person next door turned the tv off at a reasonable time. I had two dbl beds, one smelt and the cushions where dirty. The breakfast was ok but the woman who was sitting people to tables was so over worked and there was a long q to be sat. If I was paying myself I would have complained. Rooms come with essential oils labled to help you sleep. David Lloyd is next door on the positive

I stayed here for a night in March, The rooms were clean and specious. We were fortunate to be given a late check out of 2PM which was very beneficial. This hotel is situated near Speke retail which is good to pop over to for a bit of retail therapy. There is also a free car park for visitors and is right next to the 82 bus route into Liverpool city centre as well as a route to the airport.

My husband and I enjoyed our 1 night stay and airport parking package at the Crowne Plaza. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The ensuite had a bath with a shower over it which is not ideal climbing into a bath plus it sprayed out over the toilet and floor. Some one had removed the hairdryer from the room so I was given another room to go and dry my hair as there were no spare hairdryer which wasn't ideal walking along the corridor early morning after my shower. I've stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions and always meant to do a review so I've finally got round to it. Initially I thought the hotel was wonderful, very clean, lovely rooms particularly the executive rooms. I love the fact that this is the old airport terminial building that has been converted into a hotel and even has old aircraft out on the runway at the rear of the hotel (which also has extra car parking spaces). Its a great Art Deco building and I love the way it's been tastef... Read more

As a Spire member I am used to staying in hotels. In fact over 100 nights last year. On several occasions I have stayed here (in fact I even wrote a positive review some time ago) but today I will sadly say that last night will be my last here The issues I have come across are: 1) lack of communications. Somehow, somewhere the information I provided through the booking system was lost. So upon checkin, I was presently surprised that I was upgraded to the executive room but the only issue was th... We have stayed here a number of times and not yet been disappointed. Our room was very comfortable, had everything we needed in it and was kept spotlessly clean throughout our stay. It was blissfully quiet. Very good range of food available for breakfast. Staff always pleasant. But what we especially like about this hotel is that its history as the original Liverpool Airport has been preserved and is illustrated in every part of the building, including the apron at the rear on which sit a number... I loved this hotel, purely for the art deco architecture, the staff were helpful and pleasant. The room follow the same theme throughout. There was free parking, and free WiFi. The pool is in the David Lloyd centre next door, which was a bit of a pain. Breakfast was your normal hotel fare with a good choice. This hotel is a 40 minute drive outside Liverpool so if you do not have a car you would have to use public transport which stops outside the hotel. It is however good for the airport.

Very handy for the airport, just a taxi ride away and the option of leaving your vehicle parked at the hotel for an affordable extra. The staff were great, both friendly and helpful. The room a good size, clean with very comfy beds. We certainly had no concerns about hot water, indeed it was a great bathroom all in. The hotel has great style but what on earth is going wrong in the restaurant and bar? Breakfast is reasonable but well below good Holiday Inn standards. I think the hotel's website was written by an estate agent; it's that fanciful! The building is based around the lovely, art deco, terminal and control tower of the old Liverpool airport. So actually it's not part of the newer John Lennon Airport which is a couple of miles away. With the exception of Speke Hall, none of the "nearby attractions" are less than five miles away. This was originally opened as a Marriott in 2001 and, as with many second acquisitions by Crowne Plaza, they never seem t... Read more

The lounge staff at this quirky hotel entertain the troops with their particular brand of Scouse humour, a little cheek and a few liberties, but it is all in good spirit and adds to the character of the place. The main downside for us was that the air conditioning didn't work and the windows only opened a small crack. We spent a long... Read more

The location of the hotel is great and the rooms are pretty good. The problem comes when you get hungry. The service personal are inexperienced, badly trained ( if at all) and lack the ability to make you feel welcome. When complaining about the food , the answer is the irritating mantra : No Problem !! Wrong food arriving : No Problem. Soggy chips : No Problem. This answer should be banned from all conversation. What is wrong with : I will see to it, Sir/ Madam ????

Just about faultless on all fronts. Arrived 2 hours earlier than check-in time but Reception didn't blink an eye. Had my room up and ready by the time it took for me to return with my suitcase. Main meal and breakfast very good. Nothing too much trouble for the staff. Clean stylish rooms. Will be coming back again.

We spent 1 night here last weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The reason we came here was because we got married here in September 2014. Once again we had a lovely time, just like our wedding day all thanks to the lovely staff and especially Lindsey who looked after us so well at our wedding. Lovely hotel and staff, highly recommed.

The hotel is a lovely reminder at the "art deco" period and we were in a great room at the front of the hotel (201) that had numerous Windows following the curves of the room. The bar and staff were very good and if I had one small complaint I think £20 for bottle of house red a little excessive.

We visited here in October 2016, outside first impression was dreadful!,Thought we'd got the wrong turning and arrived at a jail instead! But once we stepped through the main entrance it was like heaven on earth. Very kind staff, incredibly clean rooms but I do have to be honest the food for breakfast was dreadful (The hot food and the beans) . Felt like they were half cooked and from a cheap retailer. But on the other half the kids were very happy that the hotel had a swimming pool and they... Read more

Spent a weekend here 7th/9th October last. The location isn't really practical for visiting and experiencing Liverpool, especially for a weekend. It's on the outskirts of the city unfortunately. The hotel itself is the converted art deco main building of the old airport (complete with control tower), and the interior belies the exterior. It is decorated very nicely inside and my room was very comfortable. The food, certainly at dinner, was not up to scratch for the standard of hotel and poorly p... Read more

Beautiful building and location , near to the Speke retail shopping centre. I booked this afternoon tea for me and my sister on 12 October 2016 for her birthday . The staff were friendly and fine BUT the cream tea WASNT cream a bit disappointing really. The sandwiches were lovely and the service was fine but the cakes were not great. But the buffet looked nice £9.95 for a business lunch.

I spent three separate weeks here on business. The rooms are a bit outdated but clean. The best part is the restaurant and the bar. There's people there every night and they serve ok meals. Free gym next door is very good. The location is far away from downtown but I could walk to my customer from here.

Stayed here for 2 nights on business. Whilst the outside of the building looks ok, once you step inside the reception area you really appreciate the beauty of the building. The ladies on reception were excellent and friendly when checking in. My room was on the ground floor (by the spiral staircase leading to the control tower) and was excellent. Very clean, comfortable and quiet. Food in the hotel was good and judging on the amount some other guests consumed at breakfast they had no complaints ... Read more

I stay at this hotel regularly for business purposes due to its convenient location to client. Staff are friendly however the rooms are a bit of a lottery: some have air conditioning that work, some are ridiculously hot, some a ridiculously noisy, some even have things missing (such as lightbulbs and even the fridge). Why do I keep staying I hear you ask? As I said before it is convenient for client but otherwise I would not have stayed after second or third week The restaurant is truly awful -... Read more

Interesting hotel, very comfortable and rooms/bathroom clean and well equipped. Some distance from the city centre. Stayed with a group visiting local galleries on a half board basis. Food (table d'hote menu with limited choice) a real disappointment; despite pre ordering choices long wait for meals to be served and food unappetisisngly presented. Service friendly but chaotic, didn't seem to be enough staff. breakfast selection good but again service on coffee, etc very very slow. Would not ch... Read more

My girlfriend and I had a very nice short stay here. The Hotel was once Liverpool Airport and is very nice inside. Claire on reception really went the extra mile to make us feel really welcome and valued. Ample car parking at the Hotel & Bus stop nearby for leaving the car behind and heading into town.

I'm not one for writing reviews though read plenty of them and felt it was about time. We, a family with two kids, 2 and 5 decided on a last minute trip to Liverpool where location wasn't the primary concern but one of ease of access, something memorable and a pool! This hotel has all of these qualities with the added bonus of a really friendly team - in all areas. Breakfast staff were attentive, warm and helpful and the front of house team were equally warm and friendly. As it was hallowe'en an... Read more

we stayed in September - 2 nights for the 3rd/4th time and this time took one of the suites right above the entrance. We were off to the football so expected it to be busy which is normal - but found it was not overly full to the point it was a scramble for everything. There was also a wedding on but this again didn't impede other guests etc. We did find that the club lounge was pretty much left deserted and it took another couple + us several attempts to get anything topped up etc. This seemed ... We stayed at this Hotel prior to our flight from Liverpool John Lennon Airport. The hotel was clean and the staff were helpful. We had free use of the gym next door and were supplied with hotel towels and a lock to use whilst over there. Would definitely stay here again. Did not eat here but the food looked lovely.

Very nice hotel, very close to the airport. We had an early start, 6 am and I asked if we could had some breakfast 'No' was the response, not even offered room service, the lady receptionist was quiet rude. There was a wedding on during our stay, not loud, just meant the bar was busy, and it was clear that 2 of the staff had never worked a bar before. I know people have to learn, but not on a Friday night when there is a wedding on! Not very good at all, breaking Health and Safety rules, using... Read more

We had an amazing stay from Friday to Sunday with many friends and family. All staff were friendly and rooms clean and well equipped. We had our whole wedding day at this fab Art Deco hotel on the Saturday and loved every minute of it. David, our toast master is an asset to the hotel, he kept the day running like clockwork and our guests commented on how great he was. Thank you again David. And not to forget Chloe for helping us organise our whole day. Mr & Mrs McGrath.

Today, my husband and I took my 85 year old mother to the hotel for lunch and arrived at 13:10. We ordered sandwiches and purchased drinks from the bar. We waited....and waited....still no food arrived after 45 minutes. Normally we would not have waited this long but, aware mum needed to eat, we persevered. My husband eventually asked the waiter how long it would take and, unbelievably, we were told it would be a while longer! I actually thought he was joking. He told us there 'had been a proble... So, the plus points, beautiful building, conveniently located, furnishings and rooms also great, you can't fault it, then you arrive!! Rubbish service, customer service, interest and humanity! I have given this hotel a second chance after the first visit being appalling with a room in the middle of summer with no air con and a heater stuck on and a fan being given by way of assistance, an over cooked steak, served undercooked peas and cold chips, surely six months later things would have impro... A very sympathetic conversion of the original terminal building has created a lovely hotel. We were upgraded to an executive room, which was very comfortable. Only one lady on reception early in the evening when we wanted to arrange a taxi, so we had to come back. Breakfast was very good.
