Though in a central location the hotel is very dated and in need of a major overhaul. Damp on the walls, shower hanging off the wall, peeling wallpaper and these are just some of the problems in the family room we were upgraded to. The reason for the upgrade was because our original room had pigeons in it, yes pigeons. Breakfast was nice and the staff seem nice enough. Was surprised to find they charge you to park in the hotel car park. Beautiful building, great location but we won't be returnin... Read more

Stay away from this hotel. First impressions very bad- on entering the car park from the back the hotel looks like a dump. Skip full of rubbish, seemingly abandoned. Peeling paint. Rubbish everywhere. Threadbare carpets. All on the way to Reception. A bar that's never open. We had the best room of the house- with the 'castle view.' The windows were disgusting. Couldn't see through them because of all the bird s**t. The view of the castle was obscured. The light was fading when we arrived- about ... Read more

After having stayed in this hotel before, we booked again for Saturday night. Never again. We never expect anything fancy but do look for a comfy clean room with a decent bed. The hotel is very dated and in urgent need of some tlc. The room we had was atrocious. One socket off the wall exposing wires another socket with tape over so not to use. Lamp shade broken and being burnt with the light bulb carpet taped up where it had been ripped damp and mould in the bathroom and a shower head that ... Read more

Really nice property and great service. I walked in after missing my bus and got a fair rate and a nice, clean room. Breakfast was amazing and the location was fabulous. I would stay here again if visiting Lancaster.

Hotel is close to centre of the town and near the railway station which is good, staff very helpful, breakfast was good. However the rooms are poor they are clean but need some money spent on them, fittings are old and need replacing taps drip, many fitting broken, it's showing its age.
