We choose to stay at the holiday inn in Lancaster on our way back from the Isle of Skye. Although, we didn't exactly rough it in Skye, we did have a long journey to the hotel and we had two kids + two older people. The main reason (if not the only reason), we elected to book two rooms in this hotel was for the luxury of using a pool after a hiking holiday and long journey. The staff let us know the day before we left Skye that they planned to do works on the pool. Granted a pool require maintena... Read more

I used to stay at the Holiday Inn, Lancaster, a lot when I was on secondment. With the hotel being just off the M6, the location is very convenient. The hotel is always busy with business people and coach trips so it can be quite difficult to get a room if you haven't booked in advance. The hotel was getting a bit tired looking throughout but perfectly adequate. The bar and restaurant are good although can get quite noisy when sport is on the TV. We booked in advance and turned up tonight only to find the place totally locked up. No Email or other warning of closure until we found locked gates and evidence of builders inside. On other occasions we have had a good stay with friendly staff and comfortable rooms, but this time we had to return south and stay in Prestom North Premier Inn. We will be seeking a refund.

Having stayed here on 3 previous occasions we where looking forward to this 1 night stay after a short camping break. Knowing it had only opened the previous day from its refurb, we where lucky to get our room at short notice. The idea was to get in the swimming pool straight away, so it was an immediate disappointment to discover it was shut for another 5 days. To be honest that's one of the reasons we stay at the hotel. Our room was great. However the walk to the room, clearly shows there is a... Read more

Having stayed in a number of Holiday Inns which are always (normally) of a high standard, I expected a lot more. In honesty, I cannot fault 90% of customer service, being a gold elite member I expected water in my room, which considering how often I stay in Holiday Inns, is not a lot to ask. When I questioned this, I was told that it was only for the exec upgrade (however the lovely man at reception did provide me with some water). That is where 'lovely' ends. We have stayed here a number of times previously on route to Scotland and it really was good to see the hotel open following the devastation of the flood in December. The hotel looks totally new and modern having seen an extensive face lift during the refurbishment and is well worth a stay. We were pleased to see some familiar faces which despite all the new facilities, still made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived. Well done and we will see you again later in the year.

First of all,the good points. This hotel has been through a refunb due to the floods a while back. 1. Rooms are very spacious and nicely decorated. 2. Pool is lovely and big. My little girl loved it. 3. Staff were nice. 4. Free wifi, if a little sluggish. 5. Free car parking. Bad points 1. When we checked in,the first room we were given, hadn't been cleaned at all. We booked one night here to stop off on our way back from the Lakes. Hotel easy to find and plenty of parking. It is newly decorated, as it was badly hit last year by floods, and is bright and modern. The staff were freindly and efficient and when the air con in our room malfunctioned on a very stuffy evening, they moved us right away to an upgraded room. I was hoping to rate this hotel much higher. Its got a great location just off the M6 and is only 2 miles from the centre of Lancaster. It's just been newly refurbished, my room was great and for those like me who like running, the Lancaster canal is just near by. First of all WIFI doesn't work, it's very slow your browser will give you many errors before to display a simple internet page like Google. Second, breakfast is poor and you've to pay extra money for a coffee or a cappucino. Third, restaurant is very very slow it takes more then 40 minutes for a salmon or filet, more over drinks are served 20 minutes after the order. I get the whole point of Trip advisor is to have your say, but reading through some of the complaints, really gives a dim view on a pretty decent hotel in an area that does not have a great deal of mid range/budget hotels.
