My wife, myself and our dog had a one-night stay for the Keswick Mountain Festival. The hotel is situated on the main street so was close to all of the local amenities. We were able to park in one of the four spaces at the hotel but there is a large public car park 50 metres away. The hotel will give you a permit to park for a whole day for £2. The staff at the hotel were very efficient and friendly and actually seemed to enjoy their jobs which is not always the case. The room was spacious and ... Read more

Great location , right on the Main Street near shops and pubs, impressive conservatory at the front where you can watch the world go by, however the bedroom we were sold was very claustrophobic, and noisy. It is clear that having stayed in a number of hotels in the lakes including their sisters, Armathwaite Hall, and Lodore Falls, that this company spend a small fortune on soft furnishings and furniture for the rooms. We stayed for two nights in room 41, a wedding reception was taking place an... Read more

Stayed in the skiddaw and must say it was a comfortable and relaxing stay. The service was top class and the food lovely. Got a bargain, glass of proscco on arrival, dinner, bed and breakfast and to top it off in a 2 bedroom suite for very good price. Just topped off a week stay in the lakes in style, until I sadly went to the Brackenrigg the following night at Watermillock but the less said about that the better! As for the skiddaw in Keswick, thank you, will return and definitely recommend!!!

Me and my partner popped into their Bar & Conservatory for lunch today and at first it took the staff about 15 minutes to serve us, to the point where I thought I had to order at the bar. I asked the waitress what soft drinks they had and she said she wasn't sure and would have to check so we just ordered a coke. I ordered a burger (which was nice!) and my partner a club sandwich which arrived without chicken. When we asked for the chicken, it was brought out and looked like packet standard at ... Read more

Booked a last minute overnight stay May Bank Holiday and found we'd been given a lovely room with a huge Four Poster bed. The breakfast was inlcuded and was very tasty. Staff were professional, helpful and friendly. A great stay

Room was second floor front street.extremely loud during the night. Saturday night all night revellers out untill 4.00 am we couldnt sleep. Hotel very nice so maybe ask for a room at back of building. Room was nicely decorated and clean and tidy. Breakfast very good with lots of choice. Lift not working today so tiring climbing the Streep stairs. Staff accommodating.

Visited for the first time this weekend The hotel is well situated in the centre. You can get a pass for £2 a day for the car park situated just behind the hotel. The only problem is that it gets extremely busy and we had to drive round for quite a while before we found a space. The hotel room was very good with a lovely bathroom and good décor, Dining room staff very efficient but too quick' They whipped the plates away as soon as we finished our meal. Breakfast was Ok we were not asked if ... Read more

Just been for lunch today, had a doorstep cheese and tomatoe sandwich, was lovely. The bread wholemeal, lovely and thick and the cheese matured and strong lovely. Will be going back for certain. The staff very friendly and polite and quick and efficient service, just as it should be.

Sadly we felt the hotel was overpriced and that we paid for the location which is excellent as it is right in the square, centre of Keswick town. The paint on the bathroom door was peeling and grout in the tiling cracked and missing in places. The carpets and wallpaper were very dated and in need of replacing. The breakfast was good and the staff were lovely

But great location in the village. What a stunning village to visit. If we make it back this way we'll have a return stay. The front desk was helpful and able to answer all our questions. But when they check in isn't until 3 they mean it. The room was huge! it had a full walk in closet, the room would have been perfect for a week+ stay, unfortunately we were only there one night. Big modern bathroom with full tub and separate shower. Breakfast service was nice. It had a very small car p... Read more

This place is nice and have been a few times for a drink and once for lunch. It always seems busy and service is relatively quick. Ordered a club sandwich which was mediocre. Price is reasonable tho and worth a visit for quick snack when in Keswick.

Great hotel if your dog is with you. They even provide towels to wipe muddy paws. Room was comfy although a little warm even with the window open. Be aware - we stayed on a Friday night and there was a lot of noise from the pizzeria next door keeping us awake until 3am. The hotel staff were apologetic the following morning and said that had we phoned the night porter they would have gone round to complain. Fabulous location right in the centre of town.

Went for three nights last weekend and was glad to leave and get back home for a sleep. When we arrived we were told the lift wasn't working and our room was on the top floor. Our room was next to a sliding door at the top of the stairs which banged constantly and as our room was at the front of the hotel there was lots of noise. People leaving the club at the back of the hotel till 3am on Friday and Saturday then the noise of them setting the market up really early in the morning. Looking at re... Read more

My husband and I were staying in Keswick and decided to have something to eat at the skiddaw hotel. (We have eaten in the dining room before and the gressingham duck was really tasty.). My husband ordered the lamb main meal whilst I asked if I could opt for a starter instead of a main but to have it served at the same time as my husband and this was deemed acceptable. I ordered the crab and prawn fishcakes plus a portion of chips. The meals all arrived at the same time, piping hot and they w... Read more

Just returned from a 3 night break, this being my 1st visit. Stayed in a refurbished room, which was very clean and comfortable but it was very warm even with the window open. Only had the breakfast, which offered a good selection and was served promptly, I do think that the restaurant is getting tired and could do with a refurb, the main public areas were clean and comfortable, but again some areas need a little attention. All of the hotel staff were very attentive and professorial but special ... Read more

Spent the afternoon in Keswick and popped into the hotel for a cup of tea before leaving. The tea itself was fine, but the miniature cake I ordered with it was abismal. It was supposed to be a Victoria sponge cake, but the cream was not real (tasted like chemicals) and the sponge was freezer burnt. I wouldn't have served that to anyone. Maybe the rest of the menu is fine, but if you can't get a mini cake right, I wouldn't keep my expectations too high.

We stayed here in one of the refurbished rooms. The room was nice, brand new bathroom and modern, however the heating was far too hot even with the windows open. There is a light in the wardrobe which is permanently turned on and showed through the gap in the doors. The breakfast was less than average - would rather skip the breakfast and go to one of the lovely cafes which are right on the doorstep. Overall the hotel is dated and needs TLC. They are obviously slowly doing some of the rooms up.... Read more

We were recommended the skid daw by a local shop. It was very busy but even taking that into consideration the service was poor. The spectacled man behind the bar was off hand bordering on being rude. We gave our drinks order and food order together. After half an hour we asked if we could have our drinks at least. The food order had been recorded but not the drinks. When the food did arrive it could only be described as average. On looking around we felt we were badly advised there appeared to... Read more

The Skiddaw Hotel is ideally situated right in the centre of Keswick town, in fact market day is just outside the hotel front door, everything at the hotel is just lovely, rooms and restuarant are faultless, the only downside are the parking facilities, just 4 spaces but you can park in the car park behind the hotel free with a pass from the hotel.

Keswick is a great place to stay in the Lake District and the whole area is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty. The Skiddaw Hotel is right in the centre of the Keswick main street on the right side running up to the Moot Hall and in a way this is also one of its disadvantages as its right next door to a night club which means noise for those who are staying in rooms at the front of the hotel. You either closed your window and cook because the building traps the heat or you get... Read more

We did not stay in the hotel but popped in for a drink in the conservatory. It was comfortable and the service was good, despite it being incredibly busy. The food that was being served looked delicious. We would have ordered a meal if we did not have reservations elsewhere.

We stopped here at the weekend for a quick drink over the weekend, it was fairly clean and drinks were reasonably priced, I found the food expensive for what it looked. We never ate there. The decor was dated and staff were run off their feet. Probably wouldn't return here. Very central location. All in all it was ok for a break from the rain and a drink.
