My wife, myself and our dog had a one-night stay for the Keswick Mountain Festival. The hotel is situated on the main street so was close to all of the local amenities. We were able to park in one of the four spaces at the hotel but there is a large public car park 50 metres away. The hotel will give you a permit to park for a whole day for £2. The staff at the hotel were very efficient and friendly and actually seemed to enjoy their jobs which is not always the case. The room was spacious and ... Read more

Great location , right on the Main Street near shops and pubs, impressive conservatory at the front where you can watch the world go by, however the bedroom we were sold was very claustrophobic, and noisy. It is clear that having stayed in a number of hotels in the lakes including their sisters, Armathwaite Hall, and Lodore Falls, that this company spend a small fortune on soft furnishings and furniture for the rooms. We stayed for two nights in room 41, a wedding reception was taking place an... Read more

Stayed in the skiddaw and must say it was a comfortable and relaxing stay. The service was top class and the food lovely. Got a bargain, glass of proscco on arrival, dinner, bed and breakfast and to top it off in a 2 bedroom suite for very good price. Just topped off a week stay in the lakes in style, until I sadly went to the Brackenrigg the following night at Watermillock but the less said about that the better! As for the skiddaw in Keswick, thank you, will return and definitely recommend!!!

Me and my partner popped into their Bar & Conservatory for lunch today and at first it took the staff about 15 minutes to serve us, to the point where I thought I had to order at the bar. I asked the waitress what soft drinks they had and she said she wasn't sure and would have to check so we just ordered a coke. I ordered a burger (which was nice!) and my partner a club sandwich which arrived without chicken. When we asked for the chicken, it was brought out and looked like packet standard at ... Read more

Sadly we felt the hotel was overpriced and that we paid for the location which is excellent as it is right in the square, centre of Keswick town. The paint on the bathroom door was peeling and grout in the tiling cracked and missing in places. The carpets and wallpaper were very dated and in need of replacing. Great hotel if your dog is with you. They even provide towels to wipe muddy paws. Room was comfy although a little warm even with the window open. Be aware - we stayed on a Friday night and there was a lot of noise from the pizzeria next door keeping us awake until 3am. The hotel staff were apologetic the following morning and said that had we phoned the night porter they would have gone round to complain. Fabulous location right in the centre of town.

Spent the afternoon in Keswick and popped into the hotel for a cup of tea before leaving. The tea itself was fine, but the miniature cake I ordered with it was abismal. It was supposed to be a Victoria sponge cake, but the cream was not real (tasted like chemicals) and the sponge was freezer burnt. I wouldn't have served that to anyone. Maybe the rest of the menu is fine, but if you can't get a mini cake right, I wouldn't keep my expectations too high.

Keswick is a great place to stay in the Lake District and the whole area is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty. The Skiddaw Hotel is right in the centre of the Keswick main street on the right side running up to the Moot Hall and in a way this is also one of its disadvantages as its right next door to a night club which means noise for those who are staying in rooms at the front of the hotel.
