We had our wedding on the 30th April and cannot express how happy we were with the whole day. Charlotte and Laura were amazing and the Duty Managers, Stuart and Wayne could not have been more helpful. Everything ran like clockwork, the whole venue was beautifully presented, the food was amazing and we did not have to worry about anything. Special and massive thanks to Tracey who organised the whole day. You made the day very special for us both and we will never forget the fantastic time that ou... Read more

This was a one night stay while on buisiness in the area and I regularily use Holiday inns. This was my first visit to this hotel, but not to the area. I was greeted on arrival with my details already in the hotel system as I am a member of the holiday inn loyalty scheme. So check in was very quick and efficient. I had requested a room in quiet part of the building in advance and that was fulfiled on arrival. The hotel itself is a little tired in places, some of the woodwork and window frames... Read more

Stayed at this hotel many times due to its location and overall comfort. However this time we really had a bad experience Room was very hot and stuffy even though all heating was off. No airflow and window could only be opened a few inches. Being near to A14 the road noise all night made it impossible to leave window open and so we had to endure a hot night with little sleep. We asked reception to move room next morning but they were full. They sent maintainance to look at room but next night wa... Read more

I have been staying at this hotel for a couple of weeks, have found the hotel to be worn out however work is being carried out on the bathrooms, upon service of the bar; Eve has been found to be rather polite and helpful & has the greatest of manners. Would recommend staying here to others.

I had a fall in Ipswich and fractured my hip - the staff couldn't have been more helpful. They were concerned enough to call the paramedics, changed our room to a ground floor room, brought us a complementary dinner to our room and served us breakfast in the bar to save the long walk on crutches to the restaurant. Even the chef asked me if there was anything else he could do. Very impressed.

I recently had the misfortune of staying at the Holiday Inn Ipswich-Orwell and it was awful. When pulling into the hotel it still had a Marriott sign outside (it used to be a Marriott before a Holiday Inn) that was the first thing, the second thing was the car park was over grown and unorganised and the outside of the hotel looked like something from a horror film; the windows were dark and chipped with paint, there was overgrown looking weeds all around the hotel and there was some seating outs... Easy to find, good parking. Friendly staff. Hotel exterior windows looked dated with paint peeling off the window frames. Restaurant food was good for the evening meal, didn't eat breakfast there as there several places to eat a few minutes drive away. Excellent bathroom but the room itself was dated with old fashioned furniture. When reviewing my bill on the TV it was showing the bill for the room next door.

A room is a room, but breakfast was disgraceful, tea undrinkable, food selection meagre, dried out and looked and tasted like it had been there hours. Staff rarely visible and uninterested. £16.00. £16.00! At least the toast was edible once I found some bread that wasn't dry and hard.

After a stressful journey the greeting here was exactly what was so desparately needed. Greeted by Igor who was great, Thank you. Very comfortable bed, we were in a disabled adapted room that was very well apointed on the ground floor close to receiption, and resturant/bar - and no noise noticeable from the room. The breakfast on the second day (we missed out on day one as didn't make it in time) was great with a warm welcome and nice crispy bacon. All staff were fantasic and room comforta... Read more

Hotel was fine, comfortable, and quiet but the staff were rude, unhelpful and mostly barely competent. Food in general was fine and the breakfast was fine too. Rooms were clean and very quiet. A comfortable nights stay with an iron needed in every room. Waiting 55 minutes for a iron in the morning is ridiculous.

Second stay, this time in a normal room. Okay, bathroom nicely refurbished. We ordered a snack between meetings in the early evening which went wrong in the kitchen. The waiter was really trying to make it up, and we hadn't to pay for the drinks. Next day we showed up a little to late for breakfast as we misundertstood the breakfast timing, but we got served everything we wished for, and with a smile. This was reaaly a good experience. Ok I've tried to call the front desk 3 times, let it ring between 10-15 times each time with no answer. So I will complain here. How much longer is the disco going on? It's soooo loud!! And on top of that it is very warm in this room. You could have warned us about the disco when we checked in. So we have now spent £134 with no dinner or breakfast or even a bottle of water in the room and now no sleep. Never again.

Stayed one night for a relative's birthday party. The room was clean, and the shower was especially good. The staff were helpful and courteous even though they were very busy as there was a wedding and our party on at the same time. They always found time to help and get you what you wanted. The breakfast was good - the food for the party was plentiful and the cheese board amazing!

This was my second trip to Holiday Inn Ipswich Orwell. I stayed in Room 3 (Orwell Suite). The room itself was good, if not a little dated. The bathroom had recently been refitted and was of a good standard, however there was a clear lingering smell of paint that, after a while, became overpowering which was disappointing. The Holiday Inn website states that there should be a drinks voucher (Free drink on weekdays or bottle of wine at weekends) and bath robes within the room. Unfortunately I... Read more

We stayed here for Jimmy's farm harvest festival and it was well located a short taxi ride away. Hotel exterior in need of repair and decoration, so first impressions were not great; however the friendliness and service received from the staff and the room (suite) more than made up for the initial impressions. The suite was huge and the bathroom had recently been upgraded with high quality shower, bath and WC unit. The internal decor of the room was usual hotel standard. The bid was large and... Read more

We had stayed at this hotel about 3 years ago and thought it looked very tired and unloved, sadly when we returned this weekend it still had the same look about it. Some of the exterior window frames are in desperate need of repair, the car park and surrounding areas needs tidying up a bit especially as first impressions are all important. I know these places aren't the height of luxury, but sometimes they feel tired, fusty or just downmarket. However, this one was clean and fresh, and I suspect the bathrooms have just been refitted as the shower was pure heaven: sparkling, spacious and powerful. the reception staff couldn't have been more friendly, and the food next door was pretty decent for the level of restaurant (very slow, but they were catering for a wedding at the same time). I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed for one night whilst on business nearby. I use Holiday Inns quite a lot and found this one to be no better or worse than most others. The room was clean and tidy and the bathroom had been refurbished to include the walk in shower in place of the bath. The room did not have air conditioning and was a bit warm, thankfully the weather had started to cool down a bit. The food, both dinner and breakfast were good. The staff were friendly so all in all an OK stay.

It would great!! However this is a typical Holiday Inn that you find anywhere in the world. The old fashion wood bedroom furniture that you need two burly blokes to move. To be helpful someone had labelled the light switches with handwritten stickers - not that professional. The food was OK and the breakfast menu adequate. There is not a great choice of other places to eat around so unless you want to drive / taxi you are stuck with the hotel or the local Brewers Fayre etc. For £80 a ... Read more

We attended a dinner for about 80 people. On our table of 10 the vegetarian dish arrived stone cold. The roast parsnips appeared to have been boiled. My poached salmon tasted of smoked mackerel and was inedible. 3 other ladies also left their salmon. Some serving staff were displaying facial jewellery that was not taped over. Yes I complained and was given a bottle of wine for our table. Advise you not to eat here.
