We stayed for our anniversary before a day put in London. There was a wedding reception going on and it had no effect on our stay . It was very quiet and really clean. The restaurant was lovely and the staff were really friendly. They made us feel welcome. I will definitely stay again

My hubby and I liked everything about hotel, very nice staff members and amazing food. I suppose we had the best dinner ever! We also enjoyed hotel's pool and 2 saunas. We can strongly recommend this hotel :)

A 2 night stay with dinner bed & breakfast at a VERY reasonable price. Double ground floor room was adequate and there was a good choice of food and plenty of it. We based here to visit Windsor and area and would book again. Only down comment would be this - if I booked a special break in a 4 star I think I would have been disappointed. Star rating may need to be reduced to 3.

Took some friends and family to the restaurant to have Sunday lunch and we were very disappointed. 2 of us chose prawn cocktail which came out in pudding bowls with no bread or butter which you expect to have with it. When the other person asked for some they only offered her and not the other person a roll. The roast was not very hot and we had to wait for the meat to be replenished and it didn't look very appealing. ack Would not rush to go back there again i'm afraid.

We stayed 2 nights and found the hotel dated but clean and comfortable. A big plus was the very reasonable price of the room which we had booked on-line.. Breakfast included a wide choice which we enjoyed.

Arrived on Sunday 29th May, Parking was OK, Try to book in, told to come back 1 to 2 hours, Went away, came back a queue was formed all waiting on rooms. Our rooms was OK, but the 42 year old son single room had no window and a green security light over the door was on all night. This room is not recommended, no air conditioning just a fan. Food was OK, but breakfast were a shambles staff late no buffet breakfast ready An hour wait made us late checking out. Bar prices are on the expensive side... Read more

Read the reviews on here before booking and the they were a bit marmite but the offer through a well know site was for £49 (no breakfast) and as it was for one night i thought why not. On the plus side the staff was friendly on arrival and i then walked through the maze of rooms to my actual room. The room was quite nice, although the TV i couldn't switch on as it was broken, but it was a bit dated but mostly clean and a nice bed so ok so far. The negative of the room was the bathroom, although... Read more

I stayed here for one night only as the Hotel was that bit too far from where I was working and not that near any local amenities. Check in was friendly and efficient. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I got a good nights sleep before work in the morning which is important to me. I cant comment on food as I didn't eat here, left too early in the morning for breakfast. Nice hotel, felt a bit too 'out of the way' for me but that's just a personal preference.

From the moment we walked in the door the staff literally couldnt have cared less with a non-welcome (honestly, the guy obviously hated his job), room door keys that didnt get scanned and therefore didnt work when we got to the room (which was quite a way from reception). We paid £78 for the night and breakfast and we got what we paid for. POSITIVES: Clean sheets and comfortable bed. Nice view on to courtyard. NEGATIVES: Apart from the lovely man behind the bar, NONE of the staff were cheerful... Read more

Although i had a good deal on my room, i found it pricey if you had to pay the full price. Rooms clean and tidy (stayed in 2 different ones), quiet and although pricey, i would stay there again. It was very busy and the staff seemed to handle it very well. Plenty of car parking space and outside was very tidy and well kept.

Stayed here in June..Couldn't Check in till 3pm. Not a dedicated receptionist. First impression, didn't find a friendly welcome. Hotel Very Tired in Places. I stopped on the top floor in a newly decorated room..but be aware there are no phones in the room to ring down to reception. My room facing out to a heavy main road,,so couldn't have window open, due to noise.Fire Alarm in the breakfast room is too near the fire sensor,,so was woken at 7.30am after a heavy night was the last thing I wante... Tired, dated. In need of a hell of a lot of money spent on it. Staff all tried their best but were hindered by an obvious lack of investment in the facilities. Check in was delayed as a faulty printer took about an hour to rectify. We took to the bar and ordered two coffees that also took the best part of half an hour to arrive. When we did get to the room the decor was similar to the communal areas and had obviously been made good after some sort of flood. Breakfast was standard buffet fare and... Read more

Didn't expect to much from this hotel as some of the reviews had mentioned outdated and dirty hotel staff not being friendly or helpful. The hotel may need updating (felt like the old style was in keeping to the building) but my room was not dirty and the staff are so very helpful. However the dining room carpet was dirty and looked as though it had been there since the hotel was built. Breakfast was cold but I mentioned this and fresh items prepared. Looks quite nice from the outside but inside, disappointing, neglected decor and it looks like it clearly needs a lot of money to do it up. Atmosphere 'Soulless' but it was functional. I thought it was expensive and not good value for money. Definitely NOT 4 star accommodation. I would give it 3 stars but that is pushing it. If the new owners (Pontins?) are prepared to spend some serious money this could be really good. It is in a great spot.

Same person on reception for check in and check out, he was absolutely miserable. Everything was one word statement, card, sign, stairs, key. Hotel needs drastic refurbishment, batnroom and rooms very dated and poor quality. Outside reception littered with cigarette butts. At check out in morning was greeted by two people drinking pints of beer, smoking at entrance to reception. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

We were going to Goodwood for the Festival of speed and Andy picked this place because it was reasonably close and North of Goodwood to make our Monday morning journey home easier . A "terrible" rating is far too high! We stayed as a friends wedding reception was being held here. Payment demanded on check in (for 3 rooms). If it was on check out we would have refused to pay! In summary: - NO HOT WATER during our stay - Rooms were filthy and grimey (thick cobwebs, torn and filthy curtains, ill-fitting windows with no locking plates on them, stained seating, fixtures were broken and hanging out of their fittings, toilet seats were stained and had not been cleaned, broken... We managed to get a late booking for Friday night, prior to a family event in the area ?? our room was excellent value ?? but I wouldn??t want to pay full-rate (for the Saturday night the cost would have been three times what we paid). Our room was a compact double ?? an interesting long shape ?? but plenty of room for two. The room had been recently refurbished so everything was clean and bright. Bathroom with a small, but adequate bath (and shower) and a comfortable bed. We peeped in on... Read more

Recently stayed with my wife for some child-free relaxation. First disappointment was the champagne and chocolates ordered for our arrival were not in the room and had to be requested, spoiling that surprise and no real apology either. The executive room was fine, although we couldn't stop the bed scooting across the floor every time we sat on it. Dinner was OK for the price of the set menu so couldn't complain about the food , yet staff seemed a little disinterested. Breakfast was fine, but... Read more

Opinions will inevitably depend on individual experiences and on room allocation, so I can only offer one, possibly not typical, view. My first impression is of a rather tired building in a hotel that may focus more on its leisure than its residential facilities. My room is up a narrow back-stairs with a carpet and aroma that would not be out of place in a museum dedicated to immediate post-war homes. The allocated room appears to have been shaved off the neighbouring one, using uninsulated pla... Read more

We had dinner and an overnight stay at the Basingstoke Country Hotel last night, and honestly after reading some of the reviews I was expecting the worst! I'm pleased to say it was in fact a rather good evening. The staff were friendly, the food tasty and the rooms clean. It was not all plain sailing. Our room, which we dubbed The Bunker was windowless. Although I found this a little strange we were happy to accept it and prepared to dig in. The room did not have any A/C, and without a window,... When you book this hotel it looks good on the Internet but you will be let down once you get to the place. The welcome at the reception is poor and looks like they don't really want to be there. The room is not up to much. The bath had packets of shampoo and used soap so it looked like the bathroom was not cleaned. This hotel is situated outside of Basingstoke in a serene setting. The buildings are old, but neat and well kept with a bit of old world charm. The room that we stayed in was small, but comfortable. The room was equipped with a TV, A/C, coffee station and the standard bathroom with shower in the bath. The meals were good and the cost of the meals was standard.
