Booked a bed/breakfast/dinner deal for ourselves and another couple as a gift for them. We received a very warm welcome on arrival. The hotel is best described as 'quirky' - lots of objects d'art dotted around, squashy sofas etc. If you like a contemporary look, then it isn't for you. Ok, it does need some upgrading - the windows for example - but we had nice rooms, spotlessly clean, huge, fluffy towels and a comfortable bed. Ate dinner in the restaurant (as part of the deal) - pub food, we... Read more

We had a large corporate booking here starting with a conference with lunch and refreshments, ending with an evening function and an overnight stay for all. Lunch was absolutely delicious, as was our evening meal. The staff were so accommodating (and patient) with us - nothing was too much bother and we look forward to many more bookings with them. Some of the other local (yet more pricey) hotels could learn a thing or two from Yan and his team.

Maybe I don't want to get up at the same time as other guests. Maybe I want to stay in my stuffy little room a little longer before joining you all for breakfast. Regardless, I have to lie here listening to you flushing your loos in nearby rooms, taking showers, opening and closing your room doors and chattering cheerfully as you head off for your 'mystery' meal. I say 'mystery' because breakfast arrangements weren't entirely clear. The (near empty) flask of coffee looked tempting, but where are... Read more

Had 1 night business stay, rooms look newly done. Very clean, modern and comfortable. Only issue was the tables outside my window at the back with people making quite a bit of noise. Food was very good and value for money. Wifi poor in room, needs a boost. In a quiet out of the way area.

Wandering the county hoping for a B&B sign - NOTHING! Then, at the top of a hill adjacent to bluebell woods, the welcome sign of the Fox Country Inn and Hotel. Made very welcome by 'Jan'. Room comfortable; window stay broken, so price reduced by £15 !! Hotel undergoing refit and decoration. Evening meal satisfactory. We were pleased to find this establishment and it was half the cost of the previous hotel where I enquired.

Thirsty and hungry after a long walk our hearts sank as, with just one car in the car park, the place looked closed. However the door was open so we went in and found just one other customer. My pint of Doombar was very well kept and quite a bit cheaper than most pubs in the area. The ham sandwich was fine, if unexciting, but the accompanying chips were excellent, crispy outside, fluffy inside, and the salad was crisp and fresh and nicely dressed. The bar area is clean, comfortable and nicel... Read more

We were given a Groupon voucher for Afternoon Tea, and I booked by phone just a few days before. My wife and I were very pleasantly surprised, by the quality and quantity. Tea was served using a chine tea service, big pot of tea, jug of milk, fine cutlery, and the, a selection of thickly cut ham & mustard, cheese & red onion, and smoked salmon sandwiches, followed by two scones with clotted cream, jam, and fresh strawberry. and a huge plate of freshly made dainty cakes. I bought a very reasonably priced Groupon voucher for Afternoon Tea, and I booked by phone just a few days before. I have an elderly friend and going out for a special afternoon tea is her favourite treat, and we do this often. Tea was served using an attractive china tea service, but we were the only people there and the table was set in an unattractive position, well away from the windows and up against the bar. The sandwich selection was good, but had obviously been made some time before and... Read more

We were looking forward to our stay at the Fox , but it went down hill from check in. My husband and I went to reception with a smile on our faces that was soon replaced by a "Why did we book here". I have never felt the need to write a review before now but in this instance ive been left no other choice I feel it my moral duty to warn others who may be considering staying at the fox. Upon arrival we were greeted (greeted being an overstatement) by a miserable receptionist who barely spoke a word of English and clearly didn't want us staying here,no customer service at all.proceeding onto the room it was below average, was very small and extremely stuffy even with window wide open,tv didn't... Our room was directly alongside the entrance (room 1) within an hour of arriving we were disturbed by staff using a hammer drill drilling trellis directly alongside the window. This lasted for approximately 1 hour. My hubby and I stayed here overnight as a stop over to visit the Chiltern farm brewery tour. It is a really lovely old hotel with a handful of rooms. Low oak beams, open fire, really quaint and loads of character, in the middle of no where with lovely views. Just a shame the staff do not represent the hotel in the way it should be. Barely a smile out of any of them, not a good morning or hello. Just a real bunch of miseries. They even turned the lights out on us, practically kicking us out of th... Read more

Lovely little place which looks stunning upon entering grounds. Could do with a bit of a spruce up especially the toilets. Went for Sunday afternoon tea which was worth the money. Nice selection of finger sandwiches and plenty cakes. Could be a little gem if a bit of extra care was put in

My wife and I had no great expectations when we dined here one evening as it was simply the nearest place to the accommodation we were staying in - we were tired and needed to eat. So we weren't too disappointed. We dined in the bar area (restaurant looked okay). We were served at table by a most pleasant and polite gentleman (Russian?) while the barman (Lithuanian?) was more surly but perhaps because he was less comfortable with the English language, so we'll give him the benefit of the doubt. ... I booked to stay at the Fox Country Inn as it said it allowed dogs and we needed a quick overnight stay in the High Wycombe area with our dog and baby. When we arrived the smiley chap at reception gave us a slightly larger room than the one we had booked so we could fit our travel cot in there, which I thought was really nice. The room was quite small, but it had everything we needed, TV, mini fridge, hot powerful shower and a really comfy large bed. Don't get me wrong, this place isn't a 5* ho... Read more

I celebrated my 40th birthday at The Fox with 120 guests this weekend. Nothing was too much trouble, the new manager Yan and his staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. They organised a hog roast for my guests and prepared fantastic food to accompany it. The Fox country Inn is no more than 5 minutes from the M40. Though once you get there it feels so secluded. There is a large car park, so space shouldn't be a problem. Arrival was smooth and quick at check in. However the room (single room on ground floor) was not very clean on closer inspection. Not sure how often the cleaner gets rid of cobwebs but there was a large web in the corner of the room that had been there for some time and all above the wardrobe.
