We visited this hotel as we were purchasing a car nearby, we arrived late and ate in the restaurant, steak and chips is 19.99 and most food from main meals approx 10-15 pounds, there is a deal for two starters, two mains and two deserts with two glasses of wine for 34.99 not a bad deal from a set menu, The hotel itself is under renovation floor by floor, and it definitely needs it, it really is 1990's style currently and our room was not the cleanest, lots of dust and dirt under desk and wallpa... My wife and I visited just after Xmas last year and enjoyed it so much that we decided to return. Very glad we did! We had another brilliant stay and had the pleasure of George on check in and throughout our stay once again. Still the the same electric hairstyle and welcoming smile! Not only had he recognized us as previous guests but he gave us a complimentary upgrade as it was my wife's birthday and gave us complimentary drinks which weren't asked for! A pretty standard Holiday Inn to be honest, adjoining the Harrogate International Centre (in fact connected to the actual venue by a bridge) - so very handy for the venue. The website had made a slight cock-up with my booking and has wiped off the discounted breakfast rate, so when I checked in, was told it would be £13 each extra for breakfast! The girl at the desk wasn't going to budge from her position this, but rather helpfully the manager stepped in and gave us the discounted rate anyway. ... Read more

We have stayed here a number of times before and like the central Harrogate location. The hotel is going through a complete refurbishment and this is years overdue. The rooms are incredibly tired looking. They need to add some biscuits onto the drinks tray in the bedrooms! The central location is brilliant for shops and restaurants, but does mean that when the town is busy navigating to the hotel and its underground car park can be somewhat tedious. The car park has plenty of spaces but navi... Read more

I had booked the buffet dinner for the four nights that I stayed at the hotel. I only managed to eat there twice because what was on offer was verging on inedible. Even at the beginning of service, the food was already congealed and very unappetising. As a vegetarian, the choice was limited to one item, so tough luck if you didn't happen to like that particular dish. Vegetables were stewed and roast potatoes were soggy. Only a quick visit prior to a wedding. We had coffee and tea in the bar which was served by a very friendly lady but baulked a bit at the almost £4 for a Diet Coke . We parked in the underground car park which cost £5 for up to 3 hours, which makes a quick visit very expensive. Some of our party were staying at the hotel and thought the decor was very tired especially for the price.

The hotel is well situated in the town centre and it next door to Harrogate international Centre. It is close to shops and amenities. We stayed for 2 nights and had an executive room. It was clean, a good size and had a lovely big bed. The shower was hot and fairly strong. We appreciated the 4 bottles of water and a chocolate bar in the room fridge on arrival. Fairly typical 'Crome plated sleep factory'. However the reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. Good size room and although a little worn was very clean. Bed was very comfortable with good quality bedding and pillows. This hotel has major refurb work on floors at the top and bottom of the hotel which means it's not possible to escape the sound of continuous loud drilling and banging. I wanted to be in my room in the day but found the noise unbearable. If you are planning to use the hotel for work during a conference don't expect to be able to work quietly from the hotel at any point during the day. I stayed here with my husband for one night earlier this week (mid-week). I'd never stayed in a Holiday Inn before and was expecting something similar to a Premier Inn. Pleasant stay with meals. The hotel is small but the layout is complicated just getting from your room to restaurants or meeting rooms. But is extremely convenient to all the venues your would want nearby and a bus stop at the front door. They are just finishing up installing air conditioning this year and that puts them way above the others.

There's a refurb going on at present but work is confined to sensible hours and whole floors out of action so didn't find it a problem. Stayed on a Saturday and the hotel was very quiet. There was not a conference next door at the adjoining HIC so all was a little like "life after people". Thankfully a modernisation programme has started and they aim to complete all areas by March 2017 and an upgrade to Crowne Plaza status. The bedrooms are being completed first and I must say the new modern furniture and décor is excellent. Large comfortable beds, nice soft furnishing and good bathroom (though I would prefer an independent shower) instead of standing in the ba... Read more

Stayed here numerous times for both business and leisure. Excellent location and well-lit, covered underground car park with direct access (you used to have to park in an adjacent yard) which is perfect for late night or rainy day arrivals/departures. Usually clean, just tired as mentioned previously - so certainly due the re-fit. Food is OK - can't really compete with multiple options nearby in central Harrogate, but breakfast is very comprehensive and well-stocked. Can't recall names, but h... Read more

Went to a weekend function at the Holiday Inn. The room was OK allowing for the fact that the hotel was undergoing refurbishment. The amenities were very very poor. For a function of over 120 people the bar was staffed by at most two. At the evening functions the food was poorly cooked or in some cases not cooked just blanched. I have rarely seen such poor presentation of a meal at a supposed 4* establishment. If it had not been a function I would have sent it back. The waiting staff were not at... Read more

We stayed four nights on a group holiday. We slept well; the room was quiet and dark; it had everything you need. Breakfasts were first class; well run organised buffet. Evening meals were good but four nights in he same restaurant palls. Staff were responsive, worked hard and the place was just well run. Parking is below the hotel in a bright place connected by the hotel lift.

There aren't half some moaning Minnie's about! We stayed here with Railway Discoveries from 10 to 14 October and found nothing to complain about. The refurbishment is now complete apart from snagging and the hotel looks fresh and clean, though we don't know what it was like beforehand. The full English breakfast was extensive and scrumptious : the evening meal was also to a good standard though not from the full a la carte. The staff were cheerful friendly and helpful. We'd gladly go again. ... Read more

Room 1126 on 11th floor thanks to George. This hotel is currently undergoing transformation into a Crowne Plaza. So being away from the renovations in a newly decorated room was good. The restaurant is on the 1st floor. As we were with a discovery railways tour, dinner time was 6.30pm. Way too early for us and no leniency as there were other groups to tailor for at half hourly intervals. Also it was a set menu. Starters and dessert waiter service however the main meal one queued for .First night... Read more

I stay at the Holiday Inn in Harrogate for work and also for leisure. This is my hotel of choice. Friendly and helpful staff with good menus in the bar and restaurant. Only down side are the bar prices, but that is common for this hotel group.

booked on Saturday 15th October for a 1 night stay. Room lot smaller than what I would expect from a big chain of hotels. Checked out the room on arrival the top of the TV was full of dust, the bath enamel was chipped in a lot of places, however the bed was very comfortable and got a good night sleep breakfast was great and good choice of food.

This review is for the first night only. Upon arrival everything was good. £7 a day for parking and £10 for the internet but I'm using 4g as it's good enough. The room is very nice comfy bed and clean and tidy. After getting to bed at 22:30 I noticed a constant noise all night from outside like a air conditioning unit blowing or a big hairdryer constantly on. So no sleep for me! I shall report it this morning and ask for a quiet room and I shall leave another review tomorrow. Don't stay in... Read more

The hotel is a comfortable taxi ride from the railway station and in a quiet location. Good base for touring Yorkshire on/off the beaten track. Very large comfortable bed and lovely view in room on 6th floor. Radiator did not work but on request reception quickly supplied a silent working portable radiator more than adequate for use in October. No lift noise or other annoyances. Television (FreeView) fine working OK all major channels. Restaurant fine for breakfast and other meals and staff frie... Read more

We stayed at the holiday for two nights in October. We were not disappointed. The hotel is in a great location; just a short walk into the town centre. Parking was convenient in the underground car park and reasonable at £7 per day. Check in was simple and we were allocated a very nice refurbished room on the sixth floor which had a massive bed, nice bathroom and good sized flat TV. Breakfast provides a superb selection of hot and cold foods. Harrogate is a lovely town with plenty of quality... Read more

The holiday inn was great for the price. Nice and central just a few minutes walk to the town centre. Reception was very friendly and helpful. Only one down side I would say is the room was very stuffy up on the eleventh floor, but otherwise I would stay there again.

Bedroom was lovely with huge bed, tea & coffee facilities, fridge etc. We couldn't have asked for anything more. Breakfast was included in the price which had an buffet with excellent variety. My only complaint was room was very hot despite turning the radiator off and we didn't notice the A/C until the morning (which was our fault). Excellent value for money and if we comeback to Harrogate we will return to the Holiday Inn

Rooms were clean, decor modern, bed comfy, some staffhelpful, lifts fast and clean. Middling was buffet breakfas, coffee and tea luke warm and just about undrinkable though, both days. Juice watery. Dates stayed 15 Oct to 19 Oct 2016 (4 nights). This Holiday Inn is in the process of being transformed to a Crowne Plaza. Our room had recently been redecorated although there was already a small stain on the carpet. The room was very cold as the air conditioning did not work (a label across the controls said ??installation was in progress??) and neither did the radiator. I have not down-rated the hotel for this as when I reported this to reception they provided a free standing radiator (which... Read more

Very good hotel perfectly situated. Connected to the Conference Centre making access easy. Upper floors give good views of Harrogate and the surrounding countryside. Usual high standard of Holiday Inns for good size rooms, cleanliness and substantial breakfasts. Large hotel with extensive public space. Our Receptionist, George, was incredibly helpful. We experienced some difficulty with their Internationally based Reservation system but the Hotel staff soon sorted it out.

I stayed one night while working at a big event in the conference centre next door. The hotel was all I would have expected from an events-oriented venue like this; corporate, somewhat soulless, but by and large efficient and comfortable. Room - comfortable and clean Bed - vast and comfortable Shower/bath - bathroom pleasant. Traditional shower head mounted from bath taps - neither the best flow nor warmest I have ever known, but good. Breakfast- very good, though with massive numbers of con... Read more

My husband & I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights whilst attending The Salvation Army Congress in the Conference Centre. Easy access to the Centre was an indoor corridor. The room was spacious, a massive bed, good shower & when I requested a step to climb into the bath it was brought to the room very quickly. The staff were friendly & efficient in their respective tasks. Plenty of choice for breakfast although no Weetabix!

We booked a short break in Harrogate and chose this hotel for its proximity to the town centre and the (underground) car parking facilities and a good choice we made too. We booked a refurbished executive king double on the ninth floor with good views over the town. Our 11th floor room offered a fantastic view over the town, and the room itself was fine: large comfortable bed, all the amenities you'd expect, and the free Wi-Fi worked fine. We didn't eat or drink in the hotel so cannot comment on the bars or restaurant. The minus points included keycards not working, long queues at Reception, overcrowded lifts, the room not being cleaned, and misinformation about the ticketing system for the car park. To be fair, I've encountered these problems at other ho... Read more

The hotel is 5 mins walk from town centre. The room was comfortable and had a lovely view over Harrogate. Breakfast was self service and the quality of food excellent, plates were warm. Served in large spacious dining room. All staff were friendly and polite. Underground car park for 160 cars cost £7 for 24 hrs and the receptionist informed me on check out that we could leave the car there if we wanted to go into town at no extra charge.

I used to stay here many years ago. The rooms are currently being renovated so there is some noise during the day. The room that I was in has been renovated to an exceptionally high standard. With Harrogate being popular for conferences the need to be competitive is high and the hotel did not disappoint. The breakfast was excellent and the service at the bar in the evening good considering the volume of people. I would recommend if you are staying in this area.
