Such a shame.. went for a special occassion in Feb 2017.We arrived at the spa and they said our treatment was at two , they should of called before as we where far too early. The food and drinks service was slow .Also we booked two massages to be done at the same time which at the last minute they said wasnt happening... everything is outdated. Have used this place for a good number of year but it changed hands about 3 years ago and has now become a joke. Dining room for all meals has tables likened to a WI domino drive. the breakfast was cold and the "waiter" was wearing a woolly hat similar to that of Benny. room are scruffy and that the ones that have recently had a refurbishment. Its been a building site for 12 months and the reception is a shambles from appearance to the "staff" Shocking establishment.

Renovations in progress, building materials in piles, main reception shut, check in via the Spa. Limited car parking. Tired rooms, scruffy bathroom, mould on walls. We only booked one night ( Sunday) we didn't eat here, not even breakfast so can't comment on food. Pay in advance? Is that in case you try to escape? Seriously sad decor, BUT.. comfortable bed, clean linen, plenty of hot water, all areas well heated on a very cold February night, tv worked & plenty of tea & coffee plus 2 bottles ... Read more

This goes down as the second worst hotel I've ever stayed in (second to a dive in Picadilly). If anyone feels that this is worth anymore than a rating of 1 then they need to review their own standards of hygeine and expectation. From broken curtain rails, rooms smelling of smoke, broken tiles, no curtain at the window of the shower, dated furnishings, building works and a lack of lighting outside. The staff were reasonably polite and helpful albeit all dressed in t-shirts and jeans. I alway... Read more

I would like to bring to your attention some serious issues with our stay yesterday evening Saturday 28th January 2017. Our room looked nothing like the website photos it looked like a typical 80's/90's room not modern at all. The room was dusty, the telephone had ground in dirt on. The bathroom did not have a towel rail, the shower worked but run extremely hot you couldn't stand under more than a minute. it would not turn to a cooler setting and the right hand knob was broken. The shower head a... Read more

We grew skeptical when we pulled up and there was scaffolding indicating major construction was in progress. When checking in, the front desk was an absolute mess. There was dirt on the floor, random piles of paper which was our first clue not to expect much. We were given room keys, which were not the normal electronic hotel key, but a typical key for a house that we had to turn in every time we left the hotel. We were given no help with bags as we climbed stairs as there were no elevators... Read more

I just needed a night in Guildford and wanted a place with a gym, I didn't read the reviews before going, wish I had. The place seemed half way through some major revamp, and it seriously needs it. The car park is unlit and hard to find reception. When I was met it wasn't the warmest of greetings, I not racist, prejudice but please have some one on reception who can speak English, I was handed a key then didn't have a clue where to go to the room, the reception area seemed to be the main hotel ... Comments in previous reviews regarding a lack of lighting outside and the place being rundown. My husband booked an evening at the pool and dinner. The changing rooms were not what I would have expected. Men and women have to share lockers & there is no separate area to do make up or hair. Jacuzzi water wasn't clean. My husband was told one price on the phone and then they tried to charge us another, the length of the pool was also in contention, 2 different lengths on the website & the owner t... Read more

We only stayed 2 nights but was not happy with having to pay in advance! Our room was really nice. It was beautyful country side and lovely views when its all done I am sure it will be amazing. Due to the history as well of the building I do hope they keep it going.

Well, its obviously an ongoing rebuild / upgrade / restoration which, in places is a horrid mess, my wife informs me, the swimming pool and spa is near finished, the gym, seen through the "spa reception" where you are presently sent to book in, which, basically is a very scruffy area, the room.........well, it was warm........there was thick black mould around the bath, bedding was clean, bed comfortable, carpets tired, electrics need upgrading, light very poor in the bathroom and neither use no...
