Mt wife and I have been yearly to Guildford over the last 15 years, as part of sports arrangement. We've stayed at a few different hotels in town, and I'll rate Mandolay among the better in it's price range. The rooms are in different structures. Some in the main house, and several in smaller two story buildings. It's been quiet, clean, and comfy. The breakfast is either standard with cereal or by a la carte. Noting special, but not below any standard either. All in all a centrally located ho... Read more

Stayed at Mandalay on Sunday night 29th January. Small compacked room but well appointed and modern. Very comfortable bed. Great bar and restaurant. Good breakfast spread. Overall great value for money.

I booked the Hotel after my flight from Gatwick was cancelled due to the bad weather. I booked via Booking.com, with a saving of £35. I know of the Hotel, having previously lived and worked in Guildford, but I have never visited/ stayed. It is nice and proved to be a pleasant, comfortable stay. Initially I was booked into a 'last minute' basement room, but having outlined its flaws I was upgraded to an executive room on the ground floor. The room was really nice, spacious, modern and clea... Read more

I stayed in a luxury suite which was nice enough. The bathroom was big and everything worked, i would have liked a shower as appose to a shower over the bath, hey ho. The service in the hotel is odd, the staff appear not to really care!

We stayed for several nights around Xmas time. The hotel is perfectly situated for the shops and restaurants in Guildford town centre which is a short walk away. The room was comfortable and quiet. The bathroom large but had no shelves on which to place anything. All our vanity kit was put on the floor. The towel rail was too small to be useful. We had to lay our towels on the floor beside the bath/shower. The design is ill thought out and inadequate. Service in the restaurant and bar was poor.... Read more

The hotel is very well presented and easy on the eye on arrival. However if you arrive by car be prepared with possible parking problems as spaces are limited. I had to pay for parking accross the road. (£1.20 per hr £1 for the night after 6pm) the room were of good standard i feel i got what i paid for. However some rooms were in quite random places a bit like a maze, but it gives the place character. All in all a plesent stay.

After a disappointing stay last weekend I emailed the address given on the website info@guildford.com. Because the email seemed somewhat strange for the hotel the web search I did for that resulted in Guildford Press - what I presume is another business entirely that has received my email of complaint - disappointing! I then rang the hotel and was given an email for the General Manager, forwarded the original email and have waited the whole week to receive a response - again disappointing! I ... Read more

The Mandolay contains many of the features you'd expect of a good 4 star hotel, however some of the hotel rooms are on the very small side at approx 10m2. My room at 14m2 while clean and tidy lacked sone of the basics; luggage rack. Bed was queen size to make best use of a small room. Worth noting as a period hotel, access to many of the upper rooms has no direct lift access, although porters are available if requested. Not quite worth the money compared to other hotels of a similar rating.

An amazing place for a wedding with friendly, courteous staff. The food and presentation of all the dishes was outstanding. The rooms are comfortable, however ours was on the ground floor which was overlooked by the garden and lacked privacy. We had to draw the curtains when changing. Book a room on the first floor.

I stay here regularly for business. The rooms are very comfortable, and the bar and restaurant are smart with friendly staff - its not cheap, but that's Guilford! The executive rooms are recommended, for the extra space - pre-booking parking is advised.
