This is a nice hotel but is situated on a trading estate surrounded by office buildings. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very tasty and varied. The leisure facilities are very well maintained. The room was small but clean and perfectly adequate as we didnt spend much time in it. There is a Sainsbury store close by but that is about it. We walked along a cycle track to get to a pub for a meal which took about 15 minutes. There is no where attractive to go for a ... Read more

The Holiday Inn at Gloucester provides the standard service you expect from a Holiday Inn Hotel. Reception staff were nice, welcoming and helpful, check-in and check out were hassle free. Hotel is big, crying for some refurnishing; The fitness and health club are very good with nice staff. The additional beds or sofabeds provided for the children were an absolute disaster, I feel sorry for my kids, the so called 'beds' were shapeless very small and sinking in the middle. Really enjoyed this hotel once we located it (arrived in Gloucester by train, advised to catch bus, and easy walk to hotel - wrong !!! Long walk to hotel & few locals knew of it's existence). Although we only stayed one night, we were pleased with the comfort of the room (twin) lovely fluffy white towels, spotlessly clean, and quite spacious. Just spent 4 nights their. Good points reception staff really nice; bedrooms nice and clean., nice breakfast. Bad points impossible to sleep at night because of slamming doors, due to overhead door closers not being correctly set. Dirty dining area floors were black, sticky sides and handrails. Friendly, helpful staff on the desk but despite beds being comfortable, the room had damp on the wall which came off in my hand. As it was only an overnight stay, it was bearable, but I wouldn't stay for longer. After a long drive, the four of us wearily headed to the restaurant where we were shown to a table. No mention of kids eat free (I had to ask the waitress myself as I had previously read about it on TripAdvisor) then she handed us one kids menu which had been scribbled on. The prices wer... I am a regular user of IHG Group hotels as IHG generally maintain a consistently good service and building condition in their hotels, but the design of some of the HI brand hotels is now looking rather old hat when compared to newer brands. There was a wedding on which took over the entire bar at points. They were very loud so we went and sat in the restaurant for the evening. Too convenient for several big businesses within walking distance. So inevitably there's always a 5% to 10% premium to pay Tuesday to Thursday. Saving 30mins a day traveling time however, makes that worthwhile. If you know Holiday Inns, this is no exception. Adequate but not remarkable. All the staff are friendly and efficient. As a regular user of hotels, I base reviews on my personal favourite, Marriott. Having said that, as my number of nights in hotels has increased, cost and location means that I sometimes use less expensive options, usually Premier Inn or occasionally Ibis. I tag these as 'cheap and cheerful' doing the job but without the frills. Holiday Inn is somewhere in between, offering more than Premier Inn, but not quite Marriott, although on this occasion, the price was at that level. The hotel was 'out o... Read more

Now, don't get me wrong. This is not a criticism, as such, more a note for would-be visitors to the Restaurant here, to manage your expectations. On the upside, the staff are very friendly, and will "go the extra mile" to make your dining experience pleasant. I find the decour acceptable for the type of restaurant that it is and the seating is comfortable. But we did not think that the prices being charged reflected the choices available, nor the finer points of the way it was served. Let me... Read more

Stayed for 2 nights in November. Lovely friendly staff who were very helpful. Clean room and good soundproofing (if a bit skinny on the coffee, sugar, biscuits etc). Stayed on 1st floor so no thumping from people above! Breakfast was really good with lots of choice. Swimming pool, sauna and steam room were wonderful after hours of walking round Gloucester. The hotel is a bit out of the way on a business park if you intend to walk anywhere though. We set off to walk to The Wheatstone Pub as the r... Read more

Perfect location for my business trip. Reception staff - very friendly and helpful Room (twin) - very clean, bathroom was a little small but this wasn't an issue. Dinner - staff were very accommodating as I wanted to have an item on the in-room menu in the restaurant and they were happy to do this for me. Food was tasty and decent portion size too :) Breakfast buffet - good vegetarian variety, attentive staff. Would definitely recommend and return.

Nice staff, clean and ok pricing. Bar and food was tasty. It was a quick visit and perfect for the location. Rooms are modern and I slept like a baby. Also very quiet, I will stay there again without a doubt

Best hotel we have stayed in for a while. Easy to check in. Free use of swimming pool and gym area. Really relaxing stay and room comfortable with clean and tidy room. Thermostat in room to set temperature.

Had an overnight here last week. Have to say our experience did not match a lot of the recent reviews. The hotel itself is fine although our room was a bit small. The big let down was the service and food in the dining room. Having stayed in many Holiday Inns over the years we expected reasonable service and edible food. Neither was the case and some polite promoting had absolutely no effect. We deliberately chose items which were not demanding of the chef but that did not help either. Be warned... Read more
