What a cracking hotel. Booked last min as had to come for personal reasons. The staff are so warm and friendly. £2 to park over night continental breakfast included in the price but can have a cooked breakfast for an extra £3 you really cant beat it. Will definatly return here in the future close to eateries and bars excellent value for money

My partner and I stayed here with my sister and her husband in July 2015. We booked the only room they had left which had two double beds (room 1). The room was in the basement looking onto the rear carpark. It was spacious and clean with tea and coffee facilities. The decor was a bit out-dated but i expected this for the price we paid. The en-suite was tiny but there was also a shared toilet/shower just outside the room. The Kelvin Hotel is in a great location, close to many bars, restaurant... Read more

My partner and I stayed for one night. Great room on second floor facing the rear of the building do it was very quiet, no traffic noise. We traveled by car and were able to park in an of street car park behind the hotel for no extra charge. Room was clean with a super king size bed and small shower room.

The staff are absolutely lovely here and the breakfast is good, but I had a terrible night on 17th May. I stayed in room 17, a small room, and the walls were so thin that I could hear a man snoring through one side all night, and a man on the other side had his tv on past midnight and I could hear the dialogue and music through the walls. It was probably on a normal volume so it was the room walls more than anything. I have stayed here before and it is a lovely budget hotel, with friendly staff... Read more

The Kelvin Hotel is located close to the Oran Mor and botanic Gardens and Byres Road with its many bars and restaurants. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The full cooked vegetarian breakfast was excellent. The dining room is beautifully decorated with many of the original features restored. I would highly recommend the Kelvin Hotel as it is located near Glasgow major tourist attractions and the trendy bars and restaurants of Byres Road and the extremely helpful and friendly staff.

Spotless! Meticulously clean, even the shared bathrooms were gleaming! Very comfy single bed in a lovely spacious single room - excellent value. Great welcome by the staff on the door (especially the chap on Thursday night), breaky was fairly basic but included in the price - certainly enough for me with an upgrade option. No hesitation recommending this place - you're 5 minute walk from Glasgow's nicest area to socialise.

Great little hotel beside the university, top quality service and very comfortable and spacious rooms, with free high speed internet and a full Scottish breakfast, perfect for business and couples alike. Great location just next to the Botanical gardens and many fine bars and restaurants. Very lovely hosts, took care of all my needs, like handling my lost luggage whilst I was in meetings!

The Kelvin has a fantastic location and the staff is very friendly. You need to be able to climb stairs to stay here as there is no elevator. The rooms are extremely clean. It is a place with a lot of character. We really enjoyed our stay and would come here again.

Good location, very friendly, lots of shops and restaurants. Hotel was clean with lovely staff. The only downside was it was noisy, lots of doors slamming and talking. I would recommend ear plugs. But having said that if we were to stay over night again I wouldn't rule it out.

The hotel is very convenient for visiting the University, Botanical Gardens and Kelvingrove Museum. Also, just a few minutes from Byers road for restaurants and shopping. Given the low cost of my room I was not sure what to expect, but the room was clean and comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast is served in a pleasant room upstairs; standard continental fare, but you do have the option of a full breakfast too.

Friendly Spanish receptionist, he upgraded our room for free during our stay so we technically got more than what we paid for. Location is convenient as it is close to the restaurants and fast food and some of the landmarks. We only had the free continental breakfast buffet, but you can order a full English meal for maybe £3. Rooms are okay. There's flat screen TV with loads of channel. Old carpeting and sofa in our room. Bed linens are average, old but neat. Bathroom is squeaky clean. ... Read more

I recently stayed at this hotel with my partner. We picked this hotel as it is great value in comparison to the other hotels in the area. Very satisfied with our stay - the staff very friendly and helpful and the hotel was nice and quiet. We will definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

The staff were very friendly and the room was as clean as it could be given how very tired the decorating is. The rooms have had baths en suite added, but just barely. As small as a bath could possibly be. The bath down the hall was far superior in every way. The other more important common area- the dining room- was absolutely lovely (though personally I'd do without the television over the fire). If they'd re- refurbish these rooms- get rid of the drop ceilings, re plaster and re configur... Read more

Stayed at this hotel for three nights and was flipn terrible. The parking is an absolute joke! Only space for two cars but they squeeze four in by having two in front two behind which means you will get blocked in or you will be blocking someone else and have to play musical cars during your stay. The downstairs room we were in was dirty and noisy, also the blinds were terrible so was very light in the room at night which is annoying when your trying to get your kids to sleep. Breakfast was ok b... Read more

Cheap budget hotel, you get what you pay for, even from the staff. We were 5mins early for breakfast one morning as our toddler was getting hungry and breakfast was quite late starting for us, we were quite rudely told to wait the 5mins even though all the continental stuff was already out and we only had to help ourselves?? High chair was dirty, you could see the dirt on it you could run your finger on it and know it hadn't been cleaned, when I ask led for some spray to wipe it I was told it ha... Read more

Only stayed one night here but it was not good! First of all it was damn near impossible to find, then it was impossible to find parking! The woman who checked us in was reluctant to give us a parking scratch ticket. We were asked to go find a space, then come get the ticket, then go back and put it on the car, and then return to the hotel! The lobby was ok and the staff friendly enough. Our room was in the basement. It was small, dingy and faced a wall. The toilet and showered were shared. The ... Read more

We were four adults staying in Glasgow for a concert. We booked a family room and for the price this was a reasonable hotel as it is not always easy to get a family room for four adults. We appeared to have a room on the top floor, a large room with two singles and a double bed along with a large bathroom. Although the room was slightly dated it was clean and did the job. We got a taxi from the city centre however you are close to a subway station. It only let down was breakfast, we didn't ... Read more

A friend of mine booked a small double room for me and my wife for £50. The rooms are nothing like the photos on the website. Not only the room was small which was expected but the bed was a little bigger than a single, the room was on the lower ground and smelt terrible, my wife who is pregnant could not stay for a minute so had to go to another hotel. I travel a lot and this is definitely the worse room for £50. Do not make the same mistake, you will be desappointed.

A classic building on a classy terrace in the West End of Glasgow with friendly staff. Sounds great doesn't it? Just beware of the basement rooms though - it is a tad cruddy in the lower reaches. Narrow fire doors, tired fittings and small rooms. Upstairs seems fine and the dining room has dazzling plasterwork, thick carpets and large windows. There's space for 4 cars at the rear @ £5 per day extra. Breakfast is included (continental) with a £3 supplement for cooked. The former is one of the m... Read more

A tidy basic room that suited what I needed. Both the toilet and bathroom were clean. The hotel is located next to a busy road, so if you may want to pack ear plugs if you're a light sleeper Breakfast was good. A full breakfast was available, as well as tea, coffee/tea, juice, cereal etc. Location was close to the University, Botanic Gardens, and West End museums/galleries. There are two underground stops about 10 mins walk away to get to the city.

Myself and my partner stayed in the Kelvin Hotel recently. Neither of us knew Glasgow very well but we were lucky to choose this hotel and location. It is right beside the Botanic Gardens, near to the kelvin Gallery and Museum and in an area with a wide variety of nice coffee shops, restaurants, etc. The hotel was very warm and comfortable. We just had the continental breakfast that was included in the room price and that was sufficient and very good. The breakfast room is very well kept and lo... Read more

This was a good location for us in the West End and the hotel is fine and functional. It is absolutely nothing special. The decor is a bit tired, our room was okay if a bit stuffy. Bathroom tiny and had a really noisy fan. Had requested non-dairy milk for breakfast when booking but on the morning and told none was available. Breakfast is also fine and nothing special. For the money we paid, I have no complaints. But nothing about this hotel makes for a particularly pleasant stay so next time I w... Read more
