We arrived by train and it was easy to walk to the hotel. We received a warm welcome and were made to feel special. Wifi was a bit tricky - something to do with using an iPad. Small room but it was no problem. All amenities were fine - tv, bed, bathroom with good shower. Dinner quite good value if you pick carefully. We had a £44 allowance and managed a starter to share, two mains and a cheeseboard. No wine. We owed .70p! This is a small hotel but busy. We were disturbed by noisy guests at 4am ... Read more

Room 305 at front of hotel and I have never had such a small room. Uncomfortably small, couldn't spread out or unpack properly. I travel a lot and this was easily the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. Will have to think twice about staying again even though I am in the Mercure loyalty scheme. I think I'd rather forgo the points and stay elsewhere in a bigger room. Room also quite dated. Generally clean but gloss work very yellow and windows and curtains showing signs of age. Evening... I stayed at the Mercure Glasgow City Hotel for 5 nights for a Corporate Meeting I was organising for 45 people from around the world. The staff both in the hotel and in the conference office were simply amazing. So friendly, supportive and easy to work with. The conference office (Laura and Emma) made sure everything was arranged and organised before we arrived, then the hotel staff (Stephen, Tracey, Laraine, Meg, Chris, Adam, the night staff.. and many more whose names I unfortunately did not c... I am giving is 4 stars, because of the location. If it wasn't for that, I would give it 2 stars. The double room was uncomfortably small and the bathroom looked like it needed a good clean. Asked reception to send someone and they did, for which I am most grateful. Locations-wise, very close to the central wail stations, nice restaurants and shopping.

I have stayed at this hotel on 3 occasions now: The first time with my sister; the second on my own; the third with my husband. Everytime I have been very happy with my room and the level of service provided by the hotel staff. The rooms are not the biggest but they are clean and very comfortable, and each time I have slept well. The hotel is in a great location for both the city centre and also the merchant city. I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

Stayed here for two nights and although some areas could do with the decor being modernized, and a few old damp patches having a lick of paint, we really enjoyed our stay and found the staff more than helpful and attentive. Breakfast was certainly not a let down with loads to eat and always being replenished. Thanks to all the staff for a great stay and we will definitely return.

Stayed at this hotel on business and found it was a very good choice. Not too expense for a city centre, free parking at rear of hotel, very friendly staff, good breakfast choice and close to all city centre bars and restaurants. Rooms are a good size, clean good showers. Only down side to my stay was the menu for evening meals was very limited and if you eat there for a few nights it becomes very bland.

Just a one night stay in Glasgow to see the Coldplay gig at Hampden Park. Arrived early and room was ready without any quibble so this was a good start. Given that the hotel was fully booked was pleasantly surprised that I received a room upgrade as an Accor Platinum member. The room was very nice and spacious. Reason for only a 3* review is that the hotel is very tired and dated - desperately in need only refurbishment. Also that the rooms don't have air conditioning which nowadays in a city c... Read more

We stayed here midweek and found the hotel was adequate. We were given a friendly welcome and directed to our room. The window faced into a very close building, but the voile curtain hid this. As we were not planning on spending much time in the room this was not a problem. The bed was comfy and breakfast was good with plenty variety. I would certainly use this hotel again if visiting Glasgow. It is right in the city centre.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Location is perfect, close to the shops, station, the restaurants of Merchant City and next door to The Corinthian where we had planned to go for dinner and a learn to play session in the casino. The hotel rooms are small and the decor is looking tired but our room was clean and the beds extremely comfortable. The bathroom had a good shower and there was always plenty of hot water. There was a slight hiccup with our booking on arrival but the staff went above and bey... Read more

Check in staff great and hotel in public areas has recently improved and is very pleasing however I was on the 7th floor and to be honest the corridors in the hotel area are very tired and could do with a bit of a face lift. My room was pretty small and very tight for space. Although we were in the height of what is supposed to be Summer, the Scottish weather was wet and windy on the day I arrived and the room was very cold. I later found out that there seemed to be a general problem overall ... Read more

The hotel is in an ideal place for the city centre - with most things just around the corner! We had one of the most welcoming welcomes on arrival - which we have found to be rare in the city centre. Our room was spotless and yes it was small - but if we wanted a bigger room we could have paid more for a suite so not sure what people are complaining about! It was nice and cosy and plenty of room for a cosy wee couple of nights! Breakfast was delicious and again staff were lovely! Parking is fant... Read more

I work in a Hotel myself so I know what to look for and what is important to the guests in order to deliver a great stay. This hotel provides exactly what you're looking for and more, I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Yes, the corridors could do with lick of paint and a new carpet (at least on the top floor) but this is a trivial thing and shouldn't be a detractor to the excellent service, good food and perfect room. In my opinion those are the most important components to a great stay.

The hotel is in a very central location and the price was okay. The furniture and décor has been updated buy the actual building structure (lifts, windows) is very dated and it lets the hotel down. My biggest bug was the horrendously loud hotel staff cleaning the rooms at 6.30am flinging around the huge bags of bedding it sounded like an earthquake, shouting to each other and a trolley with a comically loud squeak. I actually had to get out of bed to enquire what was going on and asked them ... Read more

I stayed here for one night on business - the hotel is extremely convenient in terms of location but very ordinary. The room felt small but that was due to the massive bed which was very comfy but totally dwarfed the room. You literally couldn't wheel my case by the bottom of the bed. The view from my window was of air conditioning units from other buildings and as the room was very warm (on a not very warm day) I had to open the window. However, I was plagued until late with wafts of greasy coo... Read more

The hotel is in a great location for walking to Buchanan St or St George Sq. Service was very friendly and helpful, the hotel does show its age in some places mainly around the bathroom fixtures and windows but other than that very comfortable modern rooms. Also don't expect great views because it is in the heart of the city but still a very good stay. No cooling rooms FYI

We arrived in the early morning expecting we would have to leave our luggage in storage, however being an ACCOR member the front desk lady gave us an immediate check-in without us asking. We were off to a good start. Our room, 309 was a classic room with twin beds shoved together on 3rd floor, room, small likely due to being overly filled with BIG furniture pieces and lots of them. The bed and pillows were super comfy, bed and bath linens of a high quality. The room was quiet, despite it bein... Read more

Pros: Great location in city center - great shopping on Buchanan St. - easy access to mass transit - 24 hour bar and food service - very nice staff Cons: No air conditioner (or temperature control) - outside street is very noisy - internet requires constant re-logging - very small room (and slightly outdated) I would consider staying here again

We have stayed here at the Mercure a few times over the past few years and my husband will always compare the breakfasts he gets in other Hotels to that of the Mercure he thinks it was the best breakfast he's ever had at a hotel. We would only stay here when in Glasgow because it is so familiar to us now. Our room was very tiny but hey it's in a City Centre location so it's to be expected I suppose but would've definitely recommend to family and friends

The rooms are a little on the small side and the hotel is getting dated, but this is doesn't really matter as the staff are superb and the food is good, the location is central and the shopping center etc is close bye. The hotel is clean and tidy but the staff make it worth the visit. Glasgow is a busy and bustling city but with train stations nearby so again this makes the location well sited.

Stayed here on a business trip for one night. Room was on the small side and was a double but think would be cramped for two people if they had much luggage. Hotel a short walk from the station and plenty of restaurants nearby. Check-in very efficient and smooth and the hotel was spotlessly clean. The keycards for the doors were a little temperamental and the lifts were slow and stopped with quite a jolt (handrail on one of them actually partially fell of whilst lift was in motion!). The Mercure doesn't do anything wrong per say, but doesn't really do a lot well either. Check in was easy enough, polite staff, slow systems. Room wasn't great, two single beds pushed together that were pretty uncomfortable but the room was serviceable and at the end of the day, I was on a business trip so it serves a purpose. Room was clean, had a decent iron and press which is handy! Breakfast was a bit of a nightmare, such a small area and we had to wait ages for a table. Busy hotel, but y... Read more

One night business stay in Glasgow. Allocated a Club Room(?) which wasn't particularly large but had a massive bed which dominated (and was really comfortable). A proper decent sized bath was a bonus and breakfast was good. £4.20 a pint of Boddingtons was VERY steep and the car park was a bit of a mystery. Look it up on google maps first (£12 overnight) and avoid getting stung like I did on Montrose Street at the NCP (£21).

Located in the center of town this is the perfect location to explore the city. The staff is friendly and not pushy. WiFi works good and is free. Breakfast is simple but okay. Fresh fruit was delicious. Car park is 7 gbp a day and is behind the hotel. The alley to get there is dirty and smelly, but I don't believe it's part of the hotel property. The rooms are small, but have everything. The windows are fittet with double glass which surprisingly reduced much noise from the busy center street.... Read more
