We arrived by train and it was easy to walk to the hotel. We received a warm welcome and were made to feel special. Wifi was a bit tricky - something to do with using an iPad. Small room but it was no problem. All amenities were fine - tv, bed, bathroom with good shower. Dinner quite good value if you pick carefully. We had a £44 allowance and managed a starter to share, two mains and a cheeseboard. No wine. We owed .70p! This is a small hotel but busy. We were disturbed by noisy guests at 4am ... Read more

Room 305 at front of hotel and I have never had such a small room. Uncomfortably small, couldn't spread out or unpack properly. I travel a lot and this was easily the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. Will have to think twice about staying again even though I am in the Mercure loyalty scheme. I think I'd rather forgo the points and stay elsewhere in a bigger room. Room also quite dated. Generally clean but gloss work very yellow and windows and curtains showing signs of age. Evening... I stayed at the Mercure Glasgow City Hotel for 5 nights for a Corporate Meeting I was organising for 45 people from around the world. The staff both in the hotel and in the conference office were simply amazing. So friendly, supportive and easy to work with. I am giving is 4 stars, because of the location. If it wasn't for that, I would give it 2 stars. The double room was uncomfortably small and the bathroom looked like it needed a good clean. Asked reception to send someone and they did, for which I am most grateful. Locations-wise, very close to the central wail stations, nice restaurants and shopping.

I have stayed at this hotel on 3 occasions now: The first time with my sister; the second on my own; the third with my husband. Everytime I have been very happy with my room and the level of service provided by the hotel staff. The rooms are not the biggest but they are clean and very comfortable, and each time I have slept well. The hotel is in a great location for both the city centre and also the merchant city. I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

Stayed here for two nights and although some areas could do with the decor being modernized, and a few old damp patches having a lick of paint, we really enjoyed our stay and found the staff more than helpful and attentive. Breakfast was certainly not a let down with loads to eat and always being replenished. Thanks to all the staff for a great stay and we will definitely return.

Stayed at this hotel on business and found it was a very good choice. Not too expense for a city centre, free parking at rear of hotel, very friendly staff, good breakfast choice and close to all city centre bars and restaurants. Rooms are a good size, clean good showers. Only down side to my stay was the menu for evening meals was very limited and if you eat there for a few nights it becomes very bland.

Just a one night stay in Glasgow to see the Coldplay gig at Hampden Park. Arrived early and room was ready without any quibble so this was a good start. Given that the hotel was fully booked was pleasantly surprised that I received a room upgrade as an Accor Platinum member. The room was very nice and spacious. Reason for only a 3* review is that the hotel is very tired and dated - desperately in need only refurbishment. Also that the rooms don't have air conditioning which nowadays in a city c... Read more

We stayed here midweek and found the hotel was adequate. We were given a friendly welcome and directed to our room. The window faced into a very close building, but the voile curtain hid this. As we were not planning on spending much time in the room this was not a problem. The bed was comfy and breakfast was good with plenty variety. I would certainly use this hotel again if visiting Glasgow. It is right in the city centre.

Check in staff great and hotel in public areas has recently improved and is very pleasing however I was on the 7th floor and to be honest the corridors in the hotel area are very tired and could do with a bit of a face lift. Our room was spotless and yes it was small - but if we wanted a bigger room we could have paid more for a suite so not sure what people are complaining about! I work in a Hotel myself so I know what to look for and what is important to the guests in order to deliver a great stay. This hotel provides exactly what you're looking for and more, I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Yes, the corridors could do with lick of paint and a new carpet (at least on the top floor) but this is a trivial thing and shouldn't be a detractor to the excellent service, good food and perfect room. In my opinion those are the most important components to a great stay.

The hotel is in a very central location and the price was okay. The furniture and décor has been updated buy the actual building structure (lifts, windows) is very dated and it lets the hotel down. My biggest bug was the horrendously loud hotel staff cleaning the rooms at 6.30am flinging around the huge bags of bedding it sounded like an earthquake, shouting to each other and a trolley with a comically loud squeak. We booked the hotel due to its location, nice surprise is it has a car park round the back, only £7 which is cheap. Hotel is Centre of city next to the designer shops. Quick check in lift quick if not a little old a little bumpy ride. The rooms are small there is little room in them, clean and if your not planning in staying in them all weekend are ok. Due to its location you will get some noise as there is a venue behind hotel which had music on until 1am which if your out will be of no proble... Read more

We arrived at the Mercure to a very quick check in by a lovely young lady. She welcomed us to the hotel and advised us what was available. Our room was small but clean, tidy and well laid out, just what we required for our 3 night stay. The hotel staff were all very pleasant and did everything they could to make our stay comfortable. Thank you to the lady who cleaned our room, so understanding and much appreciated. The hotel was right in the centre of Glasgow making it easy to visit all shops, b... Read more

The room was very dusty upon arrival, however this was soon rectified when the cleaners came around next day. The cold tap was loose as well but apart from that it was brilliant! Didn't leave my room until the afternoon and yet they still came back while I was out to clean it.

Ideal choice for stay since was attending a seminar in the same hotel next day, making full use of the £7.00 for parking in car park behind. Modern reception manned with lovely, efficient, helpfull staff. Room itself, and bed, most comfortable, but bathroom needs some maintenance. Dinner was served quickly, but a little over priced for what it was. Breakfast was run of the mill, what you would expect from a chain - fried eggs may have had a decent yolk at some stage before drying out! Buffet lu... Read more

The hotel is really well situated, the city center is right on your doorstep and Queen Street train station is only a couple of minutes walk away. The hotel itself is very modern, clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and are always available to help should you need anything.

The hotel is located in the heart of Glasgow which is superb, however all the plus points end there. We chose Mercure because of the price and we were only staying one night. However the room and bed were very small and along with the noise throughout the night coming from the corridor and other doors closing/opening we had about 2 hours sleep. The room was so hot it was uncomfortable as we couldn't control the heating or room ventilation adequately. The fixtures and fittings were old and jaded ... Read more

The location is excellent. Centrally located, it is within steps of George Square, the City Chambers, tour buses, regular bus services and Queen Street railway station. It is close to a wide range of shopping and dining facilities in the city centre and the merchant city area. We stayed for one night in a classic room on the 4th floor. The room was compact, or cramped, depending on your point of view and what you expect for your money. At just under £100 I think 'compact' is fair enough. There ... Read more

Ok, so it took a while to get responses online when requesting answers to questions - but they always responded! The reception staff were awesome, in particular Chris, who went above and beyond. He gave us lots of local info - he even booked us cinemas tickets. Always seemed happy to help. The rooms are fine, we were at the front of the hotel, so it was noisier. I had a bad sleep, but this was due to other revellers outside and my 'better-half' not closing the secondary window properly!! Booki... Read more

This was an Itison deal, first class from moment we arrived. Yes it is older hotel but rooms were small but comfortable. Beds excellent. Nice and warm. Everything you neede for an overnight, even an iron. Breakfast was buffet style but warm and tasty. The young man at the reception desk was very pleasant and helpful. Will definetly use again.

Our 2nd time this year at this hotel. Last time our room was quite small but as we were only in Glasgow for one night it was fine and had everything we needed. This time though the room was really big with a super king size bed which was very comfortable. Lovely buffet style breakfast with plenty of choice. Hotel is in a great location, just down from George Square with a good selection of bars and restaurants nearby. Will definitely be coming back for a 3rd visit!

Every other review tells you what you need to know! The rooms are tiny. There's no aircon..so need to open windows...so be prepared for inevitable noise. The rooms are worn and tired but with comfortable beds. My room, 203, was almost same size as it's ensuite bathroom! Which also would benefit from refurb. The reception area is modern and doubles as a 24hr bar and restaurant. Pleasant enough. Position on Ingram Street is great for visiting Glasgow but as mentioned this might mean you'll... Read more

The hotel is in fantastic location for central Glasgow, shops and train station nearby. For the price we paid it was ok. The hotel it self is very tired but clean. The room we had required modernisation, the radiator required bleeding when we arrived, when the heating finally came on we were unable to see out of the window for the rest of the trip because of condensation.

I stayed one night on a flying visit to meet up with my son in Glasgow as well as taking in a rugby match in Edinburgh. As I was getting the train back to Glasgow after the match I wanted a hotel that was near Queen Street Station and this hotel fitted the bill perfectly. The check-in was quick and efficient and the front desk staff were very friendly. The room wasn't huge but was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The only minor gripe were the roadworks that started at 7.30A.M on Saturday ... Read more

We arrived before 10 in the morning after an overnight flight. Our rooms were not ready but they took care of our luggage right away and offered many suggestions on where to go. We sat in the lounge and had some wonderful coffee and great conversation with the waiter. The hotel was under renovations, they are doing a great job, the rooms were clean and nice.

Sleep deprivation was my complaint of this really good value Hotel that we would go back to if staying in a room not so noisy. Wonderful staff, so very helpful.Extensive choice at buffet breakfast and dinner was delicious. Nice decor in the public areas and so very central for shopping ,stations and centres.

Ok hotel. Bedding very comfortable. Location convenient. Service good. Would be nice to have magnifying mirrors in bath. Doors were a bit undercut so they do nothing to block noise from comings and goings from adjacent rooms.

Don't stay here, room was tiny, the gap under the door to my room was so big it looked like Blackpool illuminations overnight. It took room service 3 attempts to bring the right condiments. On the first night I reported the mirror above the bathroom mirror wasn't working, was advised it would be fixed the next day - it wasn't. Overall very poor, nice breakfast!

Visited on 23rd/24th Nov 2016 with a group of Mental Health friends. Very up-market look and feel to the place. Friendly and polite greetings/service from staff. Simply but tastefully decorated and had a fresh feel on arrival. Fairly easy to navigate round and lifts were quick and clean. Room - Compact, clean and well equipped. Noise at night - Very minimal inside hotel. Only street chatterings from outside when window was open. Only minor cosmetic issues eg. Small section of beading mis... Read more

Nothing special but it does the job. The bed is comfy enough, the rooms are alright for a quick overnighter and the hotel itself seems pretty standard. The staff are actually pretty nice considering it looks like a kind of boring place to be working but they did there best to offer a smile when they could. Like I said, kind of meh but nothing to complain about really.

Well placed on city centre with easy access to Queen Street train station. Double room, on 7th floor, small with no drawers. Shower over bath was good. Two lifts, but only one working. And with 7 floors the wait for people on lower floors was substantial at breakfast time.

I was not expecting anything fantastic as I already knew it was a three star hotel with small rooms and noisy environment. I stayed here for two weeks as my company had already paid. My room which was on the first floor was horrendous. It was constantly filled with cigarette smoke, heating was erratic and I constantly had to chase the front desk to fix the problem. On a positive note, I found some staff very friendly throughout my stay which made my stay manageable. Tips: Avoid first floor r... Read more

First time staying in the Mercure and chose this hotel based on location. Not a great start to be put in room 101. The room was tiny and in need of a update. Won't be staying here again and won't be recommending to anyone.

Just back from another lunch in this city centre hotel. Surprised how quiet it was. I don't think people realise they do lunches. Really good value for soup and sandwich and the fact they do gluten free bread makes it ideal for anyone with celiac disease. The restaurant is lovely and if you're looking for somewhere relaxing to catch up with friends it's ideal. Staff really are a credit to this hotel.
