The hotel has been recently renovated to a good standard. Friendly welcome, good wifi, parking round the back (access road full of pot holes so take care), comfortable bed, good choice and quality of breakfast, tv in room is small, comfortable temperature in room. I stayed there for 1 night in a single room at the front of the hotel. Only real complaint is the quality of the window is poor. It really needs replacing - NO sound proofing from traffic (I wore earplugs), cold air blowing in (althoug... Read more

We chose this hotel because it is near the Botanical gardens and in the West End. Beautiful place from the outside and freshly renovated. Comfortable room nice en suite and very quiet at night. We would gladly recommend this hotel.

Great location, beautiful rooms and excellent service. Angela in particular was very helpful and accommodating even after I had made a mistake in booking a double instead of twin room. Would stay here again in a heart beat!

Excellent service, location, cleanliness and staff. The room was very comfortable. The linens were not scented which is important to me since synthetic chemical fragrances trigger my asthma. The only drawback for us was we like to avoid synthetic chemical fragrances and when we entered the hotel a staff member was spraying the hall with highly scented air freshener and our room was scented as if it had been sprayed.

I stayed just one night in a comfortable, clean (if a little cramped) room. The receptionist was helpful and accommodating to me, and the breakfast was reasonable but nothing special. Breakfast was slightly marred by a civil but tetchy conversation I overheard between the receptionist (?manager) and a guest who had apparently been delayed in arriving. I did feel that such a conversation might have been better had in the manager's office, rather than in front of other guests.

First class service from the Manager Anjie, very helpful and friendly, able to give information about local attractions and places to eat out or go for a quiet drink. Hotel clean and tidy with plenty of towels and tea and coffee in room, Cannot fault service or hotel for my stay. If in Glasgow again I would be happy to stay here.

The hotel was in a great location for exploring the West End. Angela at the front desk was incredibly accommodating and we enjoyed the clean rooms and comfy beds. We arrived on the Caledonian Sleeper and we were allowed to check in early and leave luggage. No complaints at all!

Got off to a weird start as the 2 men on the computer in the hall completely ignored me on arrival. I was unsure whether to ring the bell as I thought they might just be guests. Turned out one of them was the concierge. He was still a bit cool but I dismissed it and smiled and thanked him and headed to my single room. The room was small but beautifully appointed, immaculate and very comfy. My friend came to meet me and was equally impressed saying the hotel would be perfect if her dad needed to ... Read more

I was booked in another hotel belonging to the same chain, but when I arrived it turned out that someone (the hotel said the travel agency used by my hosts, but they said the hotel) had messed up the booking, and so they offered me a room at a sister hotel. They handled this awkward situation well and paid for the taxi to take me to the new place. The Ambassador is out near the Botanical Gardens. That's a nice part of town, but not so central. The hotel itself had been refurbished nicely and the... Read more

We stayed at the Ambassador one night in early July. Angela, who works at the front desk, and serves the breakfast could not have been more helpful or welcoming, upon arrival, and gladly called for a cab for us the next day when we were leaving for the airport. Our room, Number 18, was especially large, well furnished, and comfortable. I must note, another couple we traveled with found their room, number 15, to be very small. Breakfast for 2, was the traditional Scottish breakfast, and was we... Read more

Spent two nights here. Very small but clean room in an old building with large bed but tiny TV. Free parking on street in front or in a lot behind hotel which can only be reached via a very rough narrow alley. Location pretty good, lots of stores and restaurants within a few blocks. Old fashioned keys to get in and out of building and room, yet USB ports in wall by bed. Would recommend for those on a budget.

The hotel and the apartments are really nice: clean, comfortable, quiet, all facilities works. Staff are very friendly, efficient and they don't bother with any thing, you got the key and feel free and enjoy your stay. Location is excellent, near to the Botanic Gardens if you fancy to walk in a green area, near to all aliment ices and shops at Byres Rd plus all pubs there, you get the tube and few buses. Price is good too for the area. I strongly recommended either single room with single bed, ... Read more

I did read the reviews before booking this hotel and decided on it because most were that it was very clean and friendly. It was okay, not as clean as I expected, bit dusty and the bathroom floor needed a clean. Didn't really have much communication with the staff as the person did seem very busy with phone calls, both when we were arriving and leaving, which was fair enough. Overall it was okay for the price (£60 for a double room, didn't have the breakfast) Was nice to see a good supply ... Read more

Looking for a hotel to stay for a conference near Glasgow University and this fits the bill, a small B&B style hotel on a quiet side street just a few minutes from Byres Road and Great Western Road and next to the botanic gardens and the river. The room was generally well furnished with a modern en suite. Good choice of cooked breakfast with a few 'continental' options. This hotel is exactly as described. It is cosy and comfortable and the rooms are all you would expect from a 3 * hotel. The staff were very helpful and welcoming and did their utmost to make our stay enjoyable. It is in a great location, in the fashionable West End and close to the university too. The free car parking was very useful - quite unusual for a city hotel. Breakfast was very good - with a choice of full Scottish or continental - included in the B & B rate. Excellent value. Do no... Great hotel, part of the McQuade chain of hotels, would recommend in a heartbeat! I'm told that this hotel was recently refurbished, and it shows, because it has light, bright decor and feels airy and welcoming. ??? I was actually meant to visit another hotel in the chain in August with a friend, but sadly there was a bereavement and so we weren't able to make it. Lovely spot and building but the staff are a real let down (unfriendly, cold, at least the ones I came in contact with). My room was okay but the housekeeping was poor (e.g. towels unchanged and left hanging in various places). I'd say the place is OK for a night or two but don't expect much.

This was OK for our 3 night stay but our room was in the building next door, meaning you had to leave that building to get to main building for breakfast. We were told it was a better room but it was a bit cramped and would not have suited a larger person who would not have fitted in the space between the wall and the bed. Hotel reception staff were not particularly welcoming. Ideal location for the Botanic gardens, university and several museums.

Very clean and fully modernised - excellent free wifi and free view ( for Dave fans like me it's a must!).
