I was entertaining in Newcastle so stayed in the Marriott as a rewards member. I think the hotel needs updating and the staff need to be trained to be more attentive to customers, not one of the better Marriott's I have stayed at

Booked Exec room with bed settee - huge room, well equipped. Staff were wonderful, kind & friendly. Hotel looks new on outside but rooms seem curiously "old fashioned" - very 80's decor.. Lovely pool & fitness centre. Good food. Short walk from metro centre Malls. Perfect!

Situated on the opposite side of the Tyne to Newcastle therefore much more reasonable than the hotels in the city centre. Nice sized rooms, stafff very helpful. Breakfast buffet very good. Great place to base yourselves if wanting to go into the city, Metro centre is a stones throw away and there is a shuttle bus from there that runs straight to the centre of Newcastle.

The Gateshead Marriott is a little outside Newcastle city centre, so don't stay here if you want to be in the heart of things. But, it's right next to the Metro Centre, so if you like shopping, then you are in for a treat! The Metro Centre has a train station with a direct link to Newcastle main station, which makes access very easy. The hotel is everything you would expect from a Marriott - clean, functional, efficient, well-appointed, and comfortable. Staff were lovely - helpful and friendly... Read more

On a recent shopping trip with my husband and mother, we were heading from my mother's home to the Metrocentre in Gateshead, England. We had decided to stay over for the few days in the Marriott Hotel that is closest too the shopping mall. It is a modern hotel with a glass facade is 0.7 miles from the Metrocentre train station. The iconic Angel of the North sculpture is 6 miles away. The Marriott Hotel, Metrocentre is A1 road and next to the intu Metrocentre shopping and leisure complex, but my ... Read more

Nice modern hotel. Just off the A1. Staff polite and helpful but you'd expect that really. A few minutes walk from the Metrocentre if you want to go shopping or eat somewhere other than the hotel. In the Metrocentre you can also get a train into Newcastle so simple if you don't want to drive or pay £15 for a cab. I didn't eat or use the other facilities there so I cannot really comment on those.

Perfect base if you plan to do some shopping at the Metrocentre, it is walking distance from the entrance. It's a nice enough hotel, very pleasant staff. Unfortunately I was unwell during my visit so was unable to have dinner here or try out the facilities (my main reason for booking here) but breakfast was good, great selection and good service.

My fiancé booked this hotel as a surprise for my birthday in September last year and he couldn't have picked a better one! We arrived after 3pm so check in wasn't an issue. There was plenty of parking available too which also helped (and it was free). Our room was huge, especially as there was only the 2 of us. The bed was massive, but so, so comfy! The bathroom was also huge, with the option of a bath or shower - which was great! The hotel is right across the road from the Metrocentre meanin... Read more

We chose this hotel as a convenient base for attending the Test Match at Chester-le-Street and visiting the general area. The hotel is a typical Marriott, everything is spotlessly clean and works but what set this hotel apart was the staff. Every single member of staff we encountered was friendly, cheerful and efficient. It's not often you come across so many who genuinely seemed to enjoy their work.

My husband and I often stop here as the location is central to what we need. It's close to the metro centre and a short journey into Newcastle. The rooms are always clean and spacious the beds are comfortable and staff are always friendly. We ate in the on site restaurant for both dinner and breakfast and the food and the service was exceptional.

Location is in a maze of access roads between the Metro Centre and a large retail park. Signposting is poor. There are brown tourist signs directing you off the A1, but they disappear at crucial, anonymous junctions. We spent upwards of 5 minutes in sight of the hotel and within about 400 metres of it as the crow flies but unable to find a way to it through the labyrinth that is the Metro Centre and retail park road system. However, once you're there things look up. There is adequate, free parki... Read more

We moved here and got a room on the day having cancelled on arrival at premier inn. Typical marriott air condition slightly weak, bed ok but very soft pillows tv seemed a little basic. Had trouble with tv remote and this was replaced within 10 mins. Very easy walking to metro entering via debenhams. Excellent and wekcoming reception. Perfect for the metro

Can't praise this hotel enough, This is the 3rd time we have returned and this was the best experience ever. The rooms are spotlessly clean and we were made to feel so special as it was my husbands 50th birthday. Complementary desert plate and wine with happy 50th birthday wrote in chocolate on plate. Breakfast is amazing and the waiting staff were lovely. Food was plentiful and cooked to perfection. Definitely go there.

The Marriott Hotel MetroCentre is a friendly and welcoming hotel located extremely close to the MetroCentre and Retail Park. It is easy to find and has got ample FREE parking. This is a benefit as most Marriott Hotels now charge for parking. The hotel is slightly dated but does the job. The rooms are large with a desk and Sofa in each room along with a King Sized bed as standard. The bathroom was also large with free toiletries in included. These are the same in every Marriott from my experienc... Read more

We stayed for one night whilst visiting Universities & chose this hotel for its proximity to the metro centre. The room was lovely and bigger than expected. All the staff were friendly & helpful & it was a 5 minute walk to the metro centre. It was a 10 minute drive into Newcastle. The only downside for me was the rock hard bed, but my daughter & hubby thought it was great. There was a wedding on at the hotel, but our room was very quiet. I would stay again & the price was good compared to other... Read more

We stayed as a family of three for one night. Sofa bed wasn't made up on arrival but this was quickly resolved. We also had a problem with the safe refusing to open but again this was soon sorted. The room was a good size with WiFi, mini bar and spa bath. Air con was quiet but not very effective. Breakfast had a good selection with friendly staff. We didn't get chance to make use of the pool or spa but it looked appealing. It is just a short walk to the Metro centre and only 15 minutes form the ... Read more

Great hotel The hotel staff couldn't do enough for you very friendly we arrived early and our room was ready. We were going into central Newcastle. The taxi cost £9.00 so very cheap. Hotel room was lovely. Had everything we needed and the bath was massive. Would recommend to anyone.

Our room was a generous size with a king size bed, seating and desk area along with a good sized bathroom. There was sufficient storage space for all of our belongings for out week long stay. The hotel seems to be well sound proofed against the traffic from the nearby A1 and has plenty of car parking available. There is also a bus stop on the road outside the hotel if you wish to use public transport. The breakfast buffet offers the standard variety of options you would expect to see at this typ... We stayed at the Marriott for one night whilst we visited the English Schools Athletics Championships in Gateshead. The location was only 5 miles from the International Stadium. It is walking distance from the Metro Centre. The rooms were accommodating and had a king size bed which was very comfy. However there were no extra pillows located in the room. The tea and coffee facilities in the room were limited but when we asked for more milk the staff were more than obliging. The leisure facilities... Read more

I stay at this hotel at least twice a year and have done for over 16 years. The location is perfect a stone throw to the Metrocentre Shopping Centre. There are plenty places to eat and getting to the town centre by taxi is a 10 min ride and about £8-£10. The Hotel is clean and pristine. The staff are very welcoming and the breakfast is amazing. The bedrooms are cleaned to a high standard. Always go at Christmas time too and the hotel looks very very festive. Well done all you all do a great jo... Read more

Easy hotel to find sits right at the side of the metro centre. There is plenty of space in the car park. The hotel is modern and clean. Most of the staff seem friendly enough. I booked direct on the marriot site and requested a high floor but got a room on 1st floor even though it wasn't full. On arrival at the hotel check in was quick so quick in fact we were left guessing what time breakfast would be served. We wanted a break in Newcastle and chose this hotel as an easy to get to option as I also wanted to visit the Metrocentre. Plenty of easy parking and we could check in early by taking an available first floor room when I had requested a high floor. Room was good with a great shower and sofa area, although overlooking the kitchen bins but we weren't there for the view. Stayed here to use up some avios points for a family celebration nearby. Impressed with the staff throughout the stay. Arrived early and no rooms ready - looked busy with a wedding, but staff took our bags and we had a drink in the nice bar. Good to see more than the usual options of draft beers. Staff soon updated us that we could get a room now and we were able to get in well before 2pm. Pool and gym very good. Breakfast service very good and a nice selection.

First visit to a Marriott Hotel and was very impressed with room and facilities it had. Board bed and breakfast, got a deal due to my work status. Didn't eat dinner here, choose to visit a restaurant in the nearby Metro Centre and wish I had stayed in the hotel, but that's another review. Room very comfortable and breakfast plentiful. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Didn't use spa/pool as didn't take suitable attire.

Stayed overnight in the Marriott while attending a family event. We upgraded to the Executive package, which gave us a bottle of fizzy, breakfast and Internet - well worth the £35. The hotel was great - staff were absolutely superb, food was brilliant and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff were quick to sort out an air conditioning problem and couldn't be more friendly. We come up to the area a number of times a year and this is our first time at the Marriott. It won't be the last

I went with my family for 2 nights on 21.07.2016. I love this hotel and the services specially Melvino who works in F&B. His big smile on his face and the service he gave us made our stay JUST PERFECT. I have to mention one more thing as I have three children and requested a interconnecting room. It was not available when I made reservation so I booked two double rooms.I was so surprised and happy when I open the door as it was a interconnecting.Thank you very much for everything.
