My heart sank as we pulled into the entrance, £160 a night for THIS was my first thought. It just looks really run down from the outside, and to be brutally honest it's not any better on the inside either. It's a relic from the 1970's that looks like it was designed and decorated by your grandparents. The Wi-Fi doesn't work, the phone in the room doesn't work so you can't call down to reception to complain that there's no Wi-Fi. Everything is just a bit tired and tatty, however this being sai... Stayed here on a Friday night with my brother as we were walking up Carn Mor Dearg and Ben Nevis in the morning. The hotel isn't much to look at, definitely in need of a bit of love. I understand that renovations are apparently underway, though. Check-in was swift and conducted by a welcoming young lady. I found the staff throughout our stay very friendly. The bar was reasonably priced, and reasonably comfortable, although I'd perhaps suggest dropping the lighting a bit as it had the air of an ... Read more

We were put in an older building that looked like a dorm building for students. I was a little apprehensive at first. I didn't feel real safe. No air conditioning but it was okay since we opened the window. Comfortable bed and the room seemed very clean. Breakfast was very good and was included in with the price of the room.

This hotel was amazing. We stayed in a superior room £260 for two nights. The room was lovely and the bathroom looked as if it had just been done up. The staff were very nice and the breakfast was great absolutely everything you could ever want from cereals juice fruit and plenty of choice of cooked items. Buffet style so help yourself to as much as you want. We chose to eat in the hotel in the evening as well and again the food was excellent. Would definitely return.

The hotel is in need of a makeover. However, our 4 day stay was very pleasant and nearby Fort William is a beautiful town with the start of the Jackobite Express steam train which goes to Mallaig as an added attraction. Our hotel room was small, if not tiny. Scottish breakfast a feast to set one up for the day and the pool was very pleasant early morning. The internet was only available in public spaces costing a fiver if you wanted access in the room.

If I was reviewing this hotel after paying full price there is no way it would earn three stars so the rating is purely based on the experience I had after paying a heavily discounted price. Like some other similar hotels in the area (e.g. the Isles of Glencoe) it seems to be past its heyday and that's not reflected in the price. Our first impression at reception was not great, It's a dingy, dark affair - not helped by the fact that there is very little natural light and dark wood and carpeting is the order of the day. Rated as "Fabulous" by but not so in my estimation. It is large but dated and caters to a lot of bus tours. The rooms are far from modern and somewhat spartan but are clean. The "FREE" wi-fi is limited to the bar and Lounge and by extension the dining room, or costs an extra 5 pounds to have access in the rooms. The Dining Room is quite formal and serves good food from a fixed price menu. Food presentation is excellent as is the service.

Stayed in room 319. You can see much improved decor, the hotel has invested in new carpets and decorated throughout. A lot of the rooms have been done up too. Compared to 5 years ago it's night and day. Food has much improved , really good. Congratulations to receptionist Morgan who got married there on Saturday and was an amazing night and very lucky to be invited I was. Staff make the ben nevis a great place and looking forward to seeing everyone next visit.

We stayed at this hotel for one night as part of a climbing party in October. Overall, this wasn't an awful hotel but I proffer these observations as much for the benefit of hotel management as for potential customers. Firstly, Running the front desk in the style of Basil Fawlty isn't the best way to win over newly arrived customers. In fact it's the worst possible way. Surely, it goes without saying in the hospitality trade, that initial contact is key to the overall experience. One that leave... Read more

This hotel is very easy to find. Looks shabby from the exterior but is clean , traditional throughout on the inside. Two buildings linked by a walkway. Ideal spot for walking the countryside and allow a good 4hr ascent of Ben Nevis. Takes 3hrs back down so appreciated the 7am breakfast which is well laid out in a spacious dining room. Why does anybody have to listen to Radio 2 as the background noise at Breakfast. Bar is well kept and there's one flat screen TV. Room was clean but needs a dras... Read more

We had great 5 days at Ben Nevis Hotel and Leisure Centre. The room was spacious with comfortable Queen size bed, clean, nicely decorated, very good tea and coffe facilities. The bathroom en suit was smart and with good stock. The restaurant is spacious, comfortable and good continental and Scottish breakfast. The staff of the reception, restaurant and the SPA were pleasant and helpful. Good car parking area. The hotel from outside is in need of good decoration to match the inside comfort and fa... Booked the Sunday night with a Groupon deal (Dinner, B&B) and a second night direct with the hotel. The free upgrade to a superior room was continued on night two. Lovely room at the front although noisy road especially with window slightly open. Lovely friendly staff. Negatives: We waited 20 minutes after being seated for dinner on 2nd night, but on (gently) complaining were given apologies and a complimentary drink. Lovely 3 course dinner included and buffet breakfast was very good. Nice pool,... Read more

Took a bit of time to settle into the hotel and get to know the area. Wish we (being me, he and four year old) had booked in for longer. First Impressions are misleading. There was a definite oops somewhere between my reservation and room allocation. The Hotel did rectify that magnificently. Once the booking oops was rectified and we were settled in our pefect room, we went for a swim then dinner in the friendly bar. The food was excellent. He had locally sourced Haddock, I enj... Our 2nd visit to this hotel and noticed some refurbishing has been done. Check in was a bit slow. I booked online and had requested an early check in. That didn't matter we enjoyed a coffee in the bar and a drive around Fort William until our room was ready. We had a bar meal and did think it was a little over priced but wouldn't put us off returning again! Room 321 was very clean and comfortable although the main road did disturb my sleep a little through the night! Breakfast was amazing. Thank... Read more

Superb views of Ben Nevis and the Mamores. Numerous walks and activities for all ages in the Glen Nevis and Glencoe reserves. Comfotable lounge areas and variable menu which changes every day. Spacious warm rooms for cold winter nights. Walkers and skiers paradise, and of course the Gondola gives access to Aonoch Mhor for those who are unable to get into the mountains under their own steam. Situated around one mile from Fort William gives easy walik to the bars, shops and restaurants .

The decor in most of this hotel needs seriously updating. It is clean though and totally liveable. Apart from a glum faced receptionist, the staff are the outstanding strong point of this place. The staff at the restaurant are really good and extremely helpful, as too were the bar staff. My son has allergies and these guys went above and beyond in making sure he was accommodated for. Really good staff.

We booked this hotel through Easybreaks, Dinner, Bed and Breakfast and a bottle of fizz in your room. Don't expect Prosecco with the fizz - it is just fizz! Bedroom overlooked the side of the hotel so no road noise, only problem was people in the next room couldn't go out their room without letting the door go and bang against the frame - why can't people be considerate when they go out their room and just put there hand against the door so it closes a bit quieter?? This is not a fault of the ho... Read more

The Ben Nevis Hotel is an old but comfortable hotel. We stayed for a three night break in October 2016. The hotel has two separate buildings linked via a covered walkway, which also links the Leisure Centre. We were in the remote building that I think is referred to as the east wing. We had room 517 which is on the second floor (top floor) on the road / mountain side. The rooms on this side of the building do suffer from traffic noise as they face the main A82 Fort William to Inverness road, but... Read more

If you liked the food and decor of the 80s tha place is perfect, while the bars and lounge area has tried to modernise, the bedrooms and restaurant fail badly, the room we had was all that heavy brown furniture it was dark and dreary with a view to the carpark and my next hint for dinner, tour coaches all lined up. Dinner, did feel like a time wrap, in September we were offered what akin to a Christmas lunch, roast turkey, I think I also spotted prawn cocktail, trout with almonds and a peach Mel... Read more

I was a bit nervous about the hotel after reading some reviews about it being tired. We had a family room on the back of the hotel overlooking a hillock of sheep. The black out curtains meant we all slept soundly for the three nights we were in Fort William. Our room 411 had been redecorated although one window and bathroom were not replaced and a bit mill dewy. We had only booked bed and breakfast and the walk into town is straight forward. We were told by reception to walk back into FW via th... Read more

This hotel was only ok. We travelled for 3 hours to get the hotel and we were greeted by a receptionist who just handed us our key- no conversation or even a smile. The room was very basic, scuffs on the walls, no shampoo or conditioner, toilet rim was disgusting and the bath hadn't been washed properly. Very old looking which is a shame because it's a good space. The pool, sauna and steam room were fantastic and were the saving grace of the hotel.

Stayed 3 nights, rooms are ok for what you pay. We ate in the hotel on the Friday night but it wasn't a very good meal so we tried again on the Saturday night - overpriced not tasty so we ate out on Sunday! Staff are very good. Fire alarm at 04:00 on the Monday morning, apparently the same fault happened 3 weeks ago.

Our first stay in the hotel for the annual gathering of the Royal Marines Association and Spean Bridge memorial service could not have been better presented than the fantastic staff at this hotel which is uniquely positioned for views onto western flanks of our highest U.K. Mountain. Apart from the staff who truly did and do go above and beyond the call of normal duties, the entertainment was perfect for the highland atmosphere created in Fort William, the food was very well cooked and presented... Stayed here for a few nights last week and it was fantastic. The room was good, a bit basic but done the done perfectly. Only small gripe was that we were in a room next to the main road, not really an issue for us but would perhaps put some people off. There are rooms further from the road though. The breakfast was one of the best I have had, it had everything and the food was very nice too. Everything seemed to be nice and fresh. Great meeting up with Alison who we have met before and Manager who was very friendly and made us a lovely sandwich and soup when we had arrived at the hotel at 10.30pm...Room was excellent and a wonderful sized bed.... :-)

The rooms were small clean and basic. Decent shower. The hotel could benefit from modernisation. The residents doors make a lot of noise when left to shut which kept me awake a bit. The food in the bar was very nice with polite and friendly service. Breakfast was fantasic, buffet style with a large of selection. Wi-fi good. Plenty of parking. We stayed over for a stop over on the way up to the Highlands, so the location was great. Given a 3 rating based on the hotel being dated.

I have the preface this in that I only stayed for 1 night and that I didn't really care for anything, just wanted a bed and warm water! We just completed the 3-peaks challenge (south to north) and this hotel was the location booked by the organising company for the team. If I would have booked it myself for a couples or solo stay I would have been very disappointed. Not a great location, extremely tired looking buildings both in and out and all rooms I saw are in heavy need of refurbishment. Fe... Read more

Just had a lovely week at the Ben Nevis hotel and spa fort William . On a rival there was some confusion over our rooms , the receptionist name Clare was quite rude , she informed us she was the senior receptionist . In my opinion through staying at many hotels she would be better served working in the kitchen , she doesn't have the people skills to be on reception, However Lauren sorted things out for us and she was very pleasant and helpful. This is not Claridges but it does represent good value for money. It is well managed and the staff are numerous and charming. At £38 a night I had a room (320) about 20 x 12 ft with a full size bath, decently hot water and a view of a field. In winter the room was cold but I was provided with a fan heater on request. The room lighting was irritatingly dim. The breakfast is splendid with locally sourced bacon and sausages and superb kippers. The free leisure club is an absolute delight after ... Read more

The staff are so friendly. They will go that extra mile to make your stay a good one. We even had a bottle of fizz in our room. However, it is on a busy road, which is very noisy, even though they do have double glazing. We had to be moved to another room as there was no hot water. It is a lovely hotel, but I was surprised that they didn't have any music or entertainment on. It is quite a walk not town, but the reception staff will phone for a taxi for you.
