My wife and I stayed at this hotel in September 2014 and found it to be quite satisfactory for an overnight stay. Sadly this was not our experience on this occasion. Our room (7) was on the ground level and designed for disabled access. The room layout met our needs and we were pleased with the complementary tea tray and kettle and the fluffy good quality towels. Certain maintenance problems were less satisfactory and they were brought to the notice of Reception staff. They were: 1. The des... Read more

Stopped here overnight prior to an early Eurotunnel train. Good welcome on arrival from helpful reception staff. Suggested that we book a table for a meal later as it got very busy, so did so. The room was as expected - all HIE are the same. A few light bulbs not working but everything else was fine. No problems until we went downstairs for our booked meal only to be told there was a 45 minutes wait for a table !!! Cross to say the least. However, there was obviously miscommunication amongst t... We stayed here as we were booked on an early train over to France the next morning. Plenty of parking, and it is in a good location for a short drive over to the train terminal. Rooms are clean, Folkestone town is within walking distance, and there was free breakfast. No problems whatsoever.

Stayed here with the family (two rooms) the night before heading across the tube. Firstly the hotel could not be better located for the tunnel. It is a four minute drive, very easy. There's also a tesco petrol station very close by so super convenient. The staff were really excellent & friendly. They made sure we had connecting rooms (which I didn't request but was very helpful). They also delivered a travel cot for our baby. They also gave us a list of local pubs/restaurants. This is a classic example of what you see is what you get. Easy and fast checkin with no fuss and clear directions for the tunnel. Pleasant desk staff. The twin bedded room was exactly what we expected a Holiday Inn to provide. We were offered supper but after a long tiring drive we elected to nip down to Tesco down the road and pick up a couple of packets of Sushi instead. The beds were comfortable, the TV worked, there was no noise and the windows opened just enough to provide a cool comfortab... Read more

Stayed here for one night to make the early start from Folkestone a bit easier. Clean tidy hotel. Attentive staff. Big car park Room wasn't massive but it fitted two adults and a small child easily enough Didn't eat here so can't comment on the food It's not a luxury hotel but then it's not trying to be but what it does do it does well and we will probably stay again on a future trip

We needed somewhere convenient to stay for an early start from the channel tunnel. This was about the closest hotel we could find. Certainly no gongs and whistles nor indeed any great luxury but perfectly adequate for the job. The immediate surroundings are hardly inspiring, either, but there's little in the way of noise from the motorway from inside and you'll not get lost finding the Eurotunnel terminal. A handy fuel station and Tesco just along the road helps with any last minute needs. Check... Read more

It's a HIX so don't expect luxury, however the room was quiet, clean and spacious and was great for a one night stay. The location is a few minutes' drive from the Eurotunnel and takes you in from an A road so you don't get stuck if there is a queue off the motorway. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was adequate and there is enough choice to get you on your way. Free wi-fi. It's slightly over-priced for this brand but there is a captive audience being so close to Le Shuttle and th... The Wi-Fi is usable for basic work and browsing, the rooms are standard but comfy, the breakfast is available early( 0630) and is nice. The staff have always been polite, welcoming and happy to see you. I try to use this hotel when ever i can but due to its location it can be fully booked. Over all a good advert for the franchise.

Just one issue, this is not that easy to fine if you use the postcode in your satnav. The postcode is the middle of the motorway, get off at the next junction & take a right, right again etc, it easy to find just takes a moment to figure out. The big advantage of this place is that it's genuinely quite, there is a large car park, and it's 10- 15 mins from the tunnel in the morning. First off, staff are fab - friendly, helpful etc top notch. The air conditioner was set too high, 19 degrees, and this could not be adjusted. Spoke with staff who tried to turn it lower but failed; stated that they would need to report this as a fault; was given a fan that was not powerful enough to cool the room. Spend a long hot night trying to sleep. We stayed here prior to a trip through the tunnel only because our first choice wouldn't take us for one night. The room was very basic. An indication of the standard of the hotel was that when I'd ordered chicken tikka masala from the limited menu no naan bread was available and the only alternatives were garlic bread or chips. Judging by the number of people checking in, busy car park and crowded bar/eating area it seems Holiday Inn Express are meeting a need but don't expect any frills.

This hotel is a short distance from the town centre, basic & clean what you'd expect a Holiday Inn Express to be. Small bar & restaurant, basic but adequate breakfast. Used for night before Euro tunnel, workmen and business stop overs. One night is fine.

Like probably most of their clientele, we were overnight guests before using the tunnel the next day so had no expectations that this would be a luxurious stay. It is absolutely fine however, for the price paid and the convenience of being so close to the tunnel. The shower had a bit of mould in it, the (double) bed is small and not all that comfortable, but with free parking and easy access, it is not a big problem. The staff were very welcoming and helpful; we made the decision to eat the c... Read more

First of all due to Hiltons Loyalty scheme which other chains don't do, I took a free nights stay. And so perhaps I should not give a negative description. But, probably because I have given some negative reviews I had a warning letter on arrival.'You must give us opportunity to put any problem right' Well it wouldn't stop me if I wanted to. I have always given credit where it is due. The staff are always good in these hotels. This one is vey convenient for the Channel tunnel too. However, I was... Read more

Stopped on the way to France. It's an ok place with clean rooms. Don't expect much of the food and you should be happy with what you get. It is overpriced but you pay for the location and convenience. Handy for the tunnel. Does what it says on the tin.

We stayed for a night before getting the early channel tunnel crossing. The check-in staff were reasonable and pointed is to a list of local takeaways that would deliver to the hotel - this told us all we needed to know about the hotel catering! The bed was so soft and lumpy and realistically too uncomfortable to sleep on. We pulled out the sofa bed thinking that one of us could sleep on that. However the slats were broken, the mattress was covered in blood coloured staines and it stunk. We ... Read more

We used this hotel prior to an early departure to France, the reception and bar area looked like a factory canteen, we would usually had a drink before bed but this area was so uninviting we decided to give it a miss, the room size was ok but the carpet was dirty, the pillows hard and uncomfortable, the smelled of sebum and smoke(albeit it was a no smoking room) We will not stop there again.

What is the point of a hotel? To provide comfort away from home? I have stayed in Holiday Inns across the world and quality does vary, but never in my travels have I come across beds so small, in this chain or others. I only stayed here so I could get a good night's sleep before a long drive to southern Germany the next day. I now wish I'd just started from home... I woke multiple times throughout the night in fear I would fall out of the bed which was not big enough for two people, despite m... Read more

My wife and I booked the hotel prior to, and returning from our Spanish holiday via the channel tunnel. Very accessible for the tunnel, easy parking. One male and three female staff that greeted us took care of all our needs. We were not sure who was the manager as they were all equally professional in their attitudes and ability to assist. Picked this hotel for its convenience for the Tunnel and also it's dog friendliness. Easy friendly check-in on a Friday night and room was more than adequate. Breakfast was as expected - Holiday Inn is never going to be 5 star and was perfectly acceptable. Had better but then again have had worse. Not the cheapest hotel available but ticked the boxes. I think it says on their publicity 4 minutes to the Eurotunnel terminal, which is a slight exaggeration, but not much. Dead easy journey, avoiding the motorway and only a couple of minutes more than that. Good clean room, quiet considering proximity to M20, and breakfast thrown in if you want it. Free newspaper as well. Highly recommended.

Our stay at here was as expected. The staff were polite and courteous, the room was clean and well maintained. For us the hotel being on the outskirts of Folkstone was a bit of a bind for getting into town, but if you are going to use the Euro Tunnel it is ideal. The breakfast was very useful save having to find some where to go for breakfast.
