The location is awesome. Just off Royal Mile. We booked an M size room. The room and the bathroom were neat , spacious . Lots of fresh towels . Front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel has a very peppy and youthful decor , which we liked a lot. Can't find any fault . Will be back again

I recently stayed at the Stay Central with my boyfriend and really enjoyed it. We were there for 2 nights, the girls at reception were very friendly and always so helpful. It has a hostel kind of vibe but is such a nice place to stay. the rooms are very secluded, i stayed in room 103, and there was only one other room beside us. The room itself was lovely, absolutely spotless, and very modern and different. The bathroom was great, with a fab shower and loads of room. We were there to celebrate a... Read more

Double room was nice & cosy, yet tiny. A bit cold inside, air conditioning only for cooling the place down. Friendly staff. Definitely a place for young people. Breakfasts not really healthy & tasty - cold french pastries & sweetened yoghurts were a minus for me.

Great location for touring Edinburgh and exploring the nightlife! On a two-week holiday in the UK, your front desk employees were the most friendly we encountered. We booked a room with two twin separate twin beds but were disappointed when we got to our room and saw the beds pushed together to form one queen bed. We were also disappointed by the lack of privacy for the bathroom. The bathroom door wasn't a real door but rather it was similar to a frosted shower door with a sizable space betwe... Read more

Wow! Such a great hotel. Breakfast was wonderful. Hotel room was absolutely adorable, loved coffee and the chocolate. The bathroom was divine! It was impossible to get the room completely dark (lights outside) and on the weekend nights it was a little loud outside, but DEFINITELY worth it! Not your big fancy hotel, but if you want to be in the middle of the action, in a very comfortable hotel, with outstanding staff, this is the place to go!

I stayed here for one night with my 12 year old daughter. On arrival we were given a card for a room, the girl on reception directed me to the lifts and said the room was in the first floor. She didn't explain where anything else was in the hotel. After looking around the first floor for approx 10 minutes and getting lost I found rooms 105 and 106 were missing from this floor. I went back to reception when another girl told the staff member that rooms 105 and 106 were across the court yard in an... Read more

We stayed in The Dorm for our Pre Wedding Bash and it was absolutely fabulous. The room is fantastic, full or character yet still loads of mod cons that you look for in these times. A few small points that could be improved (better lighting in the bathroom, a larger waste bin in the main room, some comfier chairs and some instructions for the coffee maker among them but all told a wonderful place to stay

I spent just one night at here - before an early flight. The customer service was second to none and the guys at the front desk were always on hand to help with any query. The room was beautiful, and the bed very comfortable. The tunnocks tea cakes and complimentary bottled water/teas were a nice touch. The rainforest shower was fantastic!

Stayed two nights. Small room was indeed quite small, but still enough space to move around Ok. Very comfortable bed, lovely rainfall shower, enjoyed the Tunnocks tea cakes and the modern styling. Handy with pub downstairs for drinks and good breakfast. Superb location in Old Town for easy access to restaurants, sightseeing etc. Good value.

This hotel caters to young hostel type travelers who might have a little extra money to bump up. The front desk staff is useless. Getting them to look up from their phones or tablets is difficult. They know nothing of the area. When we asked for a self service laundry they gave us directions to a dry cleaner. the hotel is in a very old building but it has been so updated that you would never know it once in the door. This hotel had lovely rooms, comfy beds and the shower was one of the best I have had in a hotel.the reception staff were very pleasant and helpful.however this hotel was probably a mistake for us as the very very loud party in the courtyard went on till 3am and it was impossible to sleep .so if you are going for a party night you are in the right place but unfortunately for us if you are hoping to get some sleep it's not the place for you .

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. On the plus side: very friendly helpful reception staff. We all love the interior design. The breakfast staff could have checked whether or not guests had paid for the full breakfast instead of sending off some of the group to the continental buffet. Location a bit dodgy it felt but maybe we got the wrong impression. Also we didn´t realise there was a beer garden below - with the European Football championships going on. We just spent 12 days traveling around the UK, and this was one of our favorite places to stay. We were sorry we only had 2 nights there. My kids (older teenagers) LOVED it. I loved it because it was super clean and quiet, and they loved it because it was contemporary and had a great location. It is attached to the Three Sisters Pub, and I was worried at first because the pub was alive with music and fun. But the wonderful young man at check in assured me that our room would be quiet. This was a nice, clean hotel. The staff were friendly. A couple of things I wish I knew before booking: it is at the bottom of a hill next to some hostels, it is also connected to a bar which is good and bad. Convenient for having a drink but some obnoxious drunk people kept us from getting in our hotel door one evening which was frustrating. They offered a breakfast for 5 pounds at the connected bar/pub. The rooms are clean , comfortable and well equipped. The staff friendly and helpful. However the hotel reception is reached through a very busy beer garden in a sports bar in the very middle of Cowgate. Cowgate is road full of bars and clubs open till early morning, it's busy with drinkers and Stag parties . Had we known this I would not have booked this location, I think it's a hotel suited to younger guests who are joining in the nightlife outside .

Take a taxi from the train station! Edinburgh is very hilly, kind of like San Francisco and rolling our luggage was real work. Our room was spacious, the bathroom was very modern with a great heated towel bar. Go for the breakfast option as well... it's a great value, right on the premises with good continental and full Scottish options. The location of the hotel is spot on for all the tourist sights in the Old Town. It's in Cow Gate, a stones throw from the Grass Market and its bustling nightlife. The hotel is very modern; almost industrial.
