We booked this hotel on the internet for 2 nights at only £45 a night. The hotel was exactly what I expected, clean but dated, the rooms had everything you could need the bar only sold bottles and cans at Edinburgh prices, £5 for bottle of Magners. The hotel offered a basic breakfast of cereal juice etc which they didn't charge for but did no cooked food. This was not a problem as there are many restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk. Prince's Street is a 15minute walk. Staff were very... Read more

The staff were friendly but the Hotel is old and to be refurbished our stay was pleasant enough bet the Hotel as seen better days. Requested down stairs room and was given one upstairs however they did change later.

Have stayed in this hotel three times between 2012-2016, its the only place i stay when in Edinburgh. Central location, great staff, cool little bar, and nice rooms. It is a botique old style hotel, so not the most modern looking, but that just adds to the charm. its a great place to stay for the price.

It's very clean indeed but that's about it. The room we stayed in was clean but the bathroom was very dated. Down stairs in the reception was very worn. If you want some where clean and average it's for you. 5/10

We booked this restaurant for our team Christmas dinner. We pre ordered our food from the Christmas menu. The choice was really good. The food was good quality and it was very reasonably priced. Keep it in mind if you are in the gyle shopping nicer than the food court. It also has a pool table and suitable for coffee or drinks.

I don't really know what all of the bad reviews are about, the Ritz is an old styled hotel, of course the rooms and the decor is going to be dated, that's the style of the hotel!!! we had the room number 2 on the first floor, the room was so spacious we actually never had a room this big. The room is a Victorian type of room with big windows, big wardrobes and plenty of storage space, the bed was very comfortable. The shower pressure was so strong, we always had hot water unlike what people wrot... Read more

Half expected the worst having read some of the reviews. We had booked as it was within easy walking distance of Princes Street and the Hogmanay Street Party. Yes it is dated and could do with a bit of a makeover, but the rooms were fine, the bed was comfortable (although the duvet needs replacing as it was badly worn), the shower worked perfectly well, and the room was clean. It is basic but ideally situated and very good value. The staff were pleasant and the continental breakfast fine, though... Read more

The hotel is located near Haymarket station so has great transport connections to the city. We arrived a little early hoping to just drop off our bags with reception and head into town for some lunch, we were kindly told that our room was ready and we could have it early, one quirk about this hotel being old style is that the rooms uses actual keys which have to be left with reception when you leave the hotel and collected when you return. For us we wanted a hotel reasonably priced and well lo... Read more

Arrived expecting the absolute worst but to be fair it was ok...you get exactly what you pay for. I thought our room was adequate clean enough, hot water, beds were reasonably comfortable, facilities to make tea or coffee. The staff were very nice and chatty and they let us leave our stuff free of charge when we checked where some hotels in the same area charge. Breakfast was very basic but that was fine with us we had tea and toast but there was cereal, fruit and pastries available too. Not bad... Read more
