Not really my favourite hotel type any more than holiday inn is, but you get what you pay for and the standard of the rooms is good. It is a "big" hotel, so be prepared for a long walk to reception, if you are unlucky, Reception staff were very helpful, bar staff inexperienced, serving a 12 year old whisky in a cognac glass, Still tasted good though. Great breakfast buffet, although getting in there was almost like going through airport security,, Location. Good, Easy to get to Princes street, ... Read more

This budget but well appointed chain hotel is in a great location for visiting Edinburgh or an overnight stay before flying out from the airport. Good restaurant for breakfast and evening meal in the same building. Near bus, rail and tram stops and car park nearby. Booked well in advance and got a very good deal.

Why does it take so long for the staff to greet customers and take them to their table? Frustrating large queues with little attempt made to say "I'll be with you in a couple of minutes". Room good, food quality OK.

I travelled up to Edinburgh to visit family and booked here again as it's in a reasonably good location for me. It's not right in the city centre, rather a 15min walk. It becomes a scenic walk however if you go via grassmarket. The room was clean and tidy and quiet enough despite overlooking the road junction. It's a normal premier inn stay.

There's really not much wrong with this Premier Inn - it's just that others are so much better! Check-in was fine, though the insistence of the person behind the desk on referring to me as "yourself" instead of the grammatically correct "you" got irritating after a while. The room numbering is bizarre! Half the room numbers match the floors on which they are located - the others don't. The room itself was, of course, clean and warm. However, the television was minuscule and there were no free... Read more

Hotel very well situated for the sites of Edinburgh.. Train, tram and buses all close by but also within easy walking distance to the city centre. Room was very clean and well maintained. Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice. Would definitely stay here again.

Stayed over night as it's very convenient from Edinburgh Haymarket rail station and easy to jump a taxi to the airport. As like other Premier Inn hotels, beds are comfy and room is a good size. Didn't have anything to eat as went nearby and up too early in the morning.

Noise was horrific ( from within and out with hotel) window kept out NO noise at all - sounded as if open and with 4/5 bars and a very busy road - 2 hrs sleep each night. Staff (reception) completely indifferent, no action taken to lower noise, level from other guests in the hotel. Rooms spotless but room service staff unable to count 2 cups, 1 bathtowel/handtowel for 3 guests - for whole stay despite leaving a note asking for a cup and towel for each person. Breakfast a nightmare - narrow ramp t... Read more

The usual good nights sleep with very comfortable beds. A great location for all that Edinburgh'[s city centre has to offer. A few minutes walk and you have restuarant6s and wine bars of Haymarket and a little further on gets you to the top end of Princes Street and the fantastic Castle.

Recently stayed for a long girls weekend with my sister, I also had a couple of business meetings to attend. We flew in on the Thursday and left our suitcase in their luggage room for free. This was a highly appreciated service which left us un burdened for our day trip. This hotel was just a 5 minute walk from the tram stop and a 10 minute walk to my meetings. It took us longer to walk from reception to our room which was the furthest point in the hotel. Premier Inn is always a consistent q... Read more

Good location but noisy - their own website has a warning regarding a busy road and large building site - Please take note. The room was very dated, and noise could be heard from other rooms and doors closing shook the walls. Free internet is very slow, pushing guests towards paying for premium internet. I had a 15min queue to check in (bad timing?). If you can get their advertised £35 rate (good luck with that!) its a bargain, but at the £150 per night I paid it's nowhere near good enough t... We walked Cuthbert's Way for 7 days and after being transported back to Edinburgh for the night we stayed at the Premier Inn. It was big and modern, lacking any character at all. The staff was efficient, but not friendly or especially helpful. The rooms were clean and spacious. While we had reliable wifi all the way across the Scottish and English countryside, we had horrible wifi here. We even paid the 5 pounds to get better wifi and still could not stay connected and asked for a refund in the ... Read more

Arrived at the hotel and had checked in online and was asked a few questions upon arrival. Managed to check in smoothly. Room was tidy and clean upon arrival. The temperature of the room was baking though and upon checking if the heater was off (It was) we turned the fan on which was noisy! Due to the heat at around 2AM I went to reception to ask if there was anything they could do due to not being able to sleep properly due to the temperature. I was informed that there was no air conditioning a... Read more

I love Premier Inns. It doesn't matter where you are you know you're going to get a clean room and a comfy bed. Edinburgh Haymarket was no exception. We arrived about 2.00am and still got a friendly and professional welcome. The room was as expected ; clean, comfy and quiet. The breakfast (which went on until 10.30 thankfully!) had masses to choose from and was fab. Staff were extremely helpful . This was the second time I'd stayed there and would happily stay again. This is a typical premier Inn, standard rooms with everything you need and nice and clean, it is on a main road but we were never bothered with noise at all, the problem with this hotel is that the bar/restaurant area are not big enough for the size of the hotel, we decided not to have breakfast there and we were glad we did, there were queues for tables both mornings we were there, also the bar should be open until 1am on the weekends on the Friday night we were sat in the bar around 12.30 whe... Sorry but this was not a good experience. When we arrived in afternoon on Thursdays the elevator was out of order and there was no maintenance to fix it! A big chain hotel in Edinburgh! Well the next thing we have to do was to tell the receptionist that we wanted our room cleaned, bin emptied etc. and that was late Friday evening! After that it was cleaned and OK. Breakfast was usually OK. Location OK. But yesterday (Sunday) the elevator was still out of order!!! An apologies from the reception ... Read more

Generally very good. Stayed for breakfast which was a buffet with a good selection. Good room which was clean and a good temperature. One of our rooms wasn't available by 3.30 despite being told check in was at 2pm, however which wasn't too good since we had been up since 4 and needed a nap. Very convenient location as it is walking distance to central Edinburgh but cheaper than staying in the centre.

This hotel was just what you might expect from a large chain. Clean rooms, average breakfast, very little character/charm. The most notable quality was the friendly staff. The location was good enough; an easy walk to the major sites.

The room was so very hot I did not get a wink of sleep and when opening the window to let in some fresh air the noise was so overpowering I could not sleep... I would NOT stay at this hotel again and perhaps rethink Premier inn altogether.. As Premier no longer represents good value for money...I could find many better or on par hotels for less in Edinburgh, which may offer me a nights sleep.

We stayed at The Premier Inn for 3 nights, 2 adults and 3 children. At the reception they were confused about the reservation ( made in April) and it took them a long time to sort out, passing on the notion that it was our fault... The rooms/beds were not made up for all of us and there were not enough towels. As 'compensation' there was left a dirty towel ! Besides the somewhat frustrating beginning everything was ok: the breakfast was fine and the hotel is situated close to good restaurants. T... Read more

My son and I stayed at Premier Inn for 2 nights, a visit essentially to see the sights of Edinburgh. It is a 20-25 minute walk to the Castle from the hotel. It is a remarkably ugly looking hotel but fulfills one's needs as a tourist. The room was clean and comfortable - for whatever reason we were assigned a room with disables facilities and my guess is we got a little more space because of this. The location is good in close proximity to public transport, pubs and restaurants but has an ove... Read more

I stayed at the Hotel for 2 nights with my boyfriend. We wanted to stay near the city centre without paying ridiculous prices. I got the Saturday night for £100 and the Sunday for £60.00 which to me was a reasonable price for the location! 2 minute walk from Haymarket train station. There is also a tram stop right outside this station in case you want to catch the tram along to Princes Street or maybe the other direction to the airport! 10/15 Minute walk in to Princes Street/George Street etc... Good Premier Inn with big rooms and all the amenities you could want. We didn't eat there as there were so many good restaurants in and around the town centre that we never returned to dine there in the evening. It's a good 15 minute walk from town so not as central as we would have liked but it's priced accordingly and the walk to town is pleasant with good view of the castle. The 100 bus from the airport leaves from just outside the exit doors and is £7.50 return. It leaves you off at Haymark... Read more

Clean room and polite staff but it was like sleeping in a Sauna. To top it off the fan didn't work. Asked reception to take a look - nothing. Wouldn't go back. Poor value for money overall, much better places to stay in EDI for the price. Good location with trams and buses nearby but a little out the way if you're looking for clubs and bars.

Bad points-Our bath had a big chunk of enamel missing in the bath so showing a rusty patch (so we stuck to having showers). It was a noisy room even with the windows shut ( however this was mentioned before we booked as on main road) and the hall way by other guests. We were there for 3 nights in Edinburgh. Beautiful city. The hotel is very well located. Perfect rooms. Very modern functional bathrooms. Very polite staff. The breakfast was ok We walked around the city quite a bit. Loved the architecture of this place. We took a bus tour to sterling castle, glengoyne distillery and Nearby lake area. Amazing country side. Worth a visit. Should spend at least 5 days in Scotland to soak in the beauty.
