From arrival to departure could not fault the staff. All very friendly, courteous and helpful. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Didn't eat at the bistro in evening but if the food is as good as breakfast then we missed out. Will definitely stay here again the next time. Can't emphasise enough how good the place was. I've stayed at various other establishments in and around Edinburgh, but this was definitely up there with the best of them.

I have stayed here a few times and have to say the food is outstanding with a great menu. The staff are very polite and know the menu well advising where needed. A good selection of Scottish food and drinks on offer which is great to see. The rooms are comfortable and they have friendly staff. The breakfast in the morning is fantastic - well worth a visit. It's well situated and very clean .

We stayed in this hotel for one night due to attending a wedding in the old town. It was a good find. Location was perfect, it took us only a few minutes to get to the old town by bus - the bus stop is right outside the hotel. Next day we enjoyed a walk to the town, it took us about 20minutes by foot to get there. The receptionist was really friendly and helpful, after explaining that we had a wedding to go to for 2pm, she said we could check in early, which was great as we needed to get changed... Read more

Stay away from here! Dirty and small room, if you have no problem with hostels, just go to an hostel and save money. To avoid, absolutely! Bath without a proper shower in add, as you can see from the picture...

Stayed here from 25 Apr to 1 May for a conference. Location is within walking distance to Clerk Street (10-15 minutes) where plenty of restaurants of different cultures are available. Buses are also easily accessible in front of the swimming pool. Room is a little old and floorboards are squeaky. However, it is clean. Mattress is needs to be changed as the springs are old and uncomfortable. Breakfast is good.

Put simply, It is a managed converted student halls. I didn't feel I was in a hotel - everything about this place reminded me of my student days. Everything is very simple and bare. Small touches like paintings/flowers etc can make a big difference. Staff are all friendly. Surprised they don't offer baked beans with their breakfast! Would I stay again - I probably would. Free parking, wifi and clean room. I'm happy with that.

May bank holiday, the room was small, but clean. The bed was to soft for us, but that wasn't a big problem. Clean sheets and towels. For a two nights stay it was ok, we didn't spend much time in the room! Breakfast is great, cold and hot choices, fruits, cereals, typical scotish/english breakfast. The hotel is about 20 minutes walk from the train station, also you can take a bus towards the city centre, bus stops in front of the hotel. Arthur seat is just behind the hotel, lovely view! The are... Read more

Basically this is like good student rooms, all ensuite, clean and in a good location. Had plenty of parking places (just park in any space that says guest parking and when you check in they give you a parking pass to put on view). We arrived at 12 but our room was ready and we could unpack, leave our car and walk into town. This took 15-20 mins to walk to the centre. At night we took a taxi which ranged between 7-9 pounds. Breakfast was good, toast and hot drinks served to you and then buffet br... Read more
