Hotel located in an ideal place for all tourist/sight-seeing attractions. The hotel itself was clean and presentable with staff very helpful and to a high professional standard. Room face out onto Hunter's Square which was occasionally quite noisy.

Room was as we'd expected, clean, tidy and well furnished. The staff were very polite and really helpful, we arrived early and they tried to get us a room but couldn't so took our luggage so we could pop out for lunch and return when the room was ready. The hotel is well situated and without walking distance to all parts of Edinburgh. Definitely stay here again!!

Excellent location, a few steps from the Royal Mile and within walking distance of all the main tourist sights in Edinburgh. Room was clean and a nice size with a large sofa and desk/dressing table. There are quite a few complaints on here about the size of the rooms, maybe you could request a larger room when booking. Our room overlooked Hunter Square but we didn't have any problems with noise... Really nice pub/restaurant right next door called The Advocate, offering meals of exceptional value... Read more

A group of 10 friends stayed here last weekend, it was in the perfect location for everything we were doing. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, they even printed our boarding passes for us late Saturday night. The rooms are not huge but have everything for a comfortable stay. Lovely breakfast too. Would definitely choose it again.

Typical Ibis accommodation with a compact, clean, comfortable and functional room at the back of the hotel, away from the noisy Hunter Square. Perfect location for The Royal Mile and major tourist attractions in the City, just a few minutes walk from Waverley Station. All the staff were really helpful and genuinely seemed like they wanted us to enjoy our stay - thankyou.

I looked long and hard before choosing this hotel for a 1 night stay in Edinburgh. It turned out to be a good choice. It is right in the heart of things in the tourist part of Edinburgh. It's a 10 minute walk from the Waverley train station (uphill) and close to food, pubs, the castle and museum. Room was comfortable, bed comfortable and good space. Breakfast was also very good. Lots of fresh options. It can be noisy if you are in a room facing Hunter square. It is very modern inside with herita... Read more

Stayed here for 3 nights on holiday. My room was comfortable and there were no problems at all. The staff were excellent and very helpful. The location of the hotel couldn't be better, right in the heart of Edinburgh, easy walking to all the sites, just off the Royal Mile and 5 minute walk to the train station. Will no doubt stay here again.

Have stayed at IBIS/IBIS hotels often, found this one to be a little expensive, good check in, room as expected .Problems, air conditioning not working, when queried was informed it wasn't air con but air circulation, I pointed out didn't matter what it was called it was turned off due to the managers instructions, was informed it was only used when weather outside reached a certain temperature. Second stay at this hotel and it was still great! They were in the middle of renovations while I was there, but the staff stated that the construction started at 8-9 and ended by 6pm and they were right! Heard very little construction noise. We were in room 214 which was a twin room. It was tiny, but that's expected. The bathroom was huge, that was not expected! Our room was spotlessly clean and although tiny, it had everything we needed, 2 beds, a desk, a chair, a kettle with tea and coffee, a ... Read more

We stayed here one night before flying out of EDI. Good value. Great location just off the royal mile, easy walk to the castle and restaurants. Room was comfortable, found it quiet (even tho we were on the street side). Loved the outlet cube for charging all our electronics. I would definitely recommend and stay here again. Only down side no parking, but being downtown we really didn't need the car.

Great location, only steps off Royal Mile, efficient staff, but kudos end there. Unless the ongoing renovations include knocking down walls, our room was so small we needed to turn sideways to pass one another. The bathroom was so small the door fully open was inches from the front of the commode. My daughter and I are not fussy eaters, but after one try in the hotel, we began our day at Starbucks just around the corner and took our meals elsewhere.

By and large it was a good experience. The room was clean and in good shape. Interesting though that they do not have any hand towels or face cloths. Only bath mats and bath towels. Not the end of the world, just different. Just off the Royal Mile, short walk to Princes St, good choice of restaurants within easy (or relatively easy) walking distance - don't foget Edinburgh has some steep hills! It's an Ibis, too which (to me anyway) means a certain amount of predictabiliy: it's going to be clean, comfortable and have a good, copious buffet breakfast. The Ibis Edinburgh did not disappoint.

They switched rooms for us immediately. The original one was on a interior closed space and very stuffy. The new room opened to the actual outside and had great fresh air. Its at the center of the old city so its easy to walk around and see the amazing picturesqueness that is Edinburgh. Be prepared, the room is SMALL, even by European standards. Now, to be fair, you don't come to Edinburgh to hang out in the hotel -- but when there are two of you and you struggle to find room to open up two carry on bags at the same time, that is a small room. The shower curtain was DISGUSTING. It had mildew growing at least 1 1/2 inches up from the bottom. It was replaced upon request the next day. Why didn't housekeeping note this and change it? The hotel is a nice place to stay, it's located in the Center of Edinburgh, you don't need to take a cab or walk a lot from the Train Station (Waverley). I stayed there for two nights and had basically no issues, however, I think there are many improvements that can be made - If you happen to get a room in the third floor, only one elevator will serve your floor, probably not a big deal, but during peak hours this can be difficult to manage, i.e. having multiple bags, traveling with kids, etc. A... There are not a lot of hotels right on the Royal mile---this one is no frills but clean, comfortable and economy. What more could you ask (except a restaurant and bar both of which it has as well).
