This is a nice modern hotel in Edinburgh. Rooms and amenities are clean and nice. We ordered room service once and it was pretty good. They restock the fridge with items for you daily, which is also a nice touch. Its about a 10 minute walk to the "high road" so not a bad location either.

I arrived at Hotel Indigo via the airport tram - a great way to go since the tram stop was about 10 meters from the hotel's front door. Check in went smoothly with a wonderfully friendly front desk clerk named Natalia. She quickly had me set up with information about not only the hotel, but the city as well. My room was spotless and decorated in a modern and welcoming style. I ordered breakfast delivered to the room on my first morning, and it arrived promptly. Everything was cooked perfectly an... The location is not at all convenient if you are driving. if you plan to arrive by public transport it is pretty convenient. I had two very different experience during check in ..one a very rude and unwelcoming and next total opposite of that! The staff seemed to have a weird attitude issue and even my gold status with IHG didnt help much. Stayed last year but didn't write a review then. Have stayed at a couple of other Indigos and this one keeps up the high standards. Lovely staff for which nothing was a problem. Food was fine, good breakfast before we took our American friends a mini tour of Scotland. My only issue and it is a biggie if you have mobility problems is that you have to climb a lot of steps with no handrail at the front entrance. Even more difficult with luggage! Also the hotel is made up of several adjacent tow... Read more

Just back from 3 days in Edinburgh, am really pleased stayed at Indigo. The room was amazing, the hotel is clean, tidy and well presented. The food in the hotel restaurant, was superb and at breakfast have to try haggis and bacon. The one thing that made our stay was the staff, a real credit to to hotel itself and the company. Extremely helpful, and superb customer service. Thank you We will definitely be back Thanks

Also had a mini bar which was complimentary ! and a nice touch . it included 2 bottles of water, 2 tunocks tea cakes, irn bru, diet coke, pint of milk. We also had Scottish crisps, oat biscuits, tea, coffee. We decided to dine in the restaurant as well. The meal was lovely and good value for money. We just came back from 5 day trip to Edinburgh and Glascow. We stayed twice at Hotel Indigo and we enjoyed our stay, especially the second time when we were given a greater room. The hotels at the two cities were incredibly overbooked, but we were able to stay at Indigo and other two hotels in Edinburgh. Indigo room rate was very competitive by far and the quality of the hotel deserves to be rated excellent for the room rate and services. The room was very good in space, tidiness, and furn... The hotel is located at york place, which means you get a direct tram to the airport and you are within minutes at every major restaurant/attraction. They have very friendly and helpful staff. Only downsides: its a little expensive but worth the money and the beds are (for our taste) a little too small for two people but definatley enough (maybe my standards arw just too high ^^). We will be back never the less though.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and chose it because I am an IHG Spire card holder. We were given room 002 for the first night. It was located in the basement underneath the reception which was quite surprising as the hotel did not account for my status with IHG. The room was very noisy and we therefore asked for another room the next morning. We were then given room 401 which was much better and quieter. The location of the hotel is good. I start by saying that I did not book or checked the hotel prior to our arrival as it was booked by our friends...so expectations were not set...as we arrived i was very disappointed, this is a hotel I will usually chose. The entrance to the hotel is on a main road and infant of a bus station, not very welcoming. The hotel is very basic with a very small lobby and very basic look and feel. This hotel is in a good location and the airport tram stops right outside. My room was spacious and looked smart at first view, but the lamp shades were pretty dusty and the bed needed to be replaced. Also, the air-conditioning was difficult to control and pretty weak - I wouldn't have liked to stay in the room during hot weather! Breakfast was OK, but nothing special.

Arrived at 9am and the staff were excellent in getting me into a room way ahead of check-in time (not the room originally allocated to me). Unfortunately their system didn't update that I'd changed room as someone else tried to get into my room at 8pm. Room could do with a bit of maintenance (wobbly taps) and wifi was a bit iffy. But staff were great, perfect location at the end of the tram line and room was very good.

Very easily reached via the tram, direct from the airport. (It's close to the train station too). The first room we were allocated suffered with a low ceiling but, on request, we were moved to a different one with no fuss at all. A well located and fairly modern hotel that doesn't hit the mark for such a high rating by other guests. Staff were pleasant but they seem to run a skeleton crew with one staff member at the front desk, one at the bar and one in the restaurant. All trying to cover each other and all it takes is a few simultaneous requests and they are swamped. This would explain a number of reviews on lack of service in the attached restaurant. Rooms very small and expensive for what they are and in desperate need of refurb with chips in furniture and the wooden floor lifting in bathroom doorway quite dangerous our room was upgraded being an ihg member dread to think what I would have got otherwise. I stayed overnight in the hotel with my wife for my birthday recently. Overall the room was good but there were several small points that spoiled the expereince. In the room itself there is an entertainment centre attached to the TV. The USB charging port on this didn't work and the TV displayed an eccentric selection of Freeview channels. This was our first visit to Edinburgh. We looked for a reasonably priced hotel that was located close to the main attractions. This hotel fit the bill. We were able to walk to Edinburgh Castle, Princes Street Garden, Palace Holyroodhouse, Botanic Gardens and Royal Mile. There were many great restaurants and pubs close by as well as a tram stop right in front of the hotel. The staff at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are cozy (on the small side). They were clean but in need o... Read more

We have stayed in Edinburgh a few times and have mixed success finding a place to stay. Having already stayed at Indigo in York we knew the standard they aim for. This hotel is well placed, it was in walking distance of Waverley station but far enough from the Royal Mile to mean the price wasn't ridiculous. The hotel is located in a terrace, that seems to have been a hotel for some time. It's a fairly busy street, which might mean street facing rooms are a bit noisy. There's also a tram, so that... I am always amazed when traveling with another couple how we can end up with different sized rooms at the same price. our friends get the big room and an elevator. We get a tiny room, a maze to find it, and a climb up the stairs. The room and its amenities were just fine. If staying here you might want to put in your preferences. The desk staff was great and gave us good references for meals and attraction directions.

Our original allocated room was a junior suite, but when we arrive in the room it was in the basement of this beautiful old building which we did not expect. The Ceilings were low and the room had a very strange layout which made the room feel claustrophobic. The room also had a soil pipe running down the middle of it, so if the room above used the shower or flushed the toilet, the noise was annoying. As it was a basement room to the front, the room was noisy, but had no view which was frustra... Read more

I usually stay at HI Express with my IHG membership and account. However when I went online to book I found there was almost no difference in price between this hotel and the HI Express across the road, so I booked this one for a change. Reception and welcome was warm, friendly and very competent. We arrived early and left our luggage - behaviour which can put some hotels in a tailspin, but not this place. Luggage was accepted, tagged, and was placed in our room as soon as it was ready. I re... Read more

I stayed at this hotel for a single night with my company while on a training day. My first impressions were very good however I had some work to do in the evening and was unable to do this due to the wifi being unbelievably slow.

I am a IHG group Platinum Member and the service that I normally get when visiting these hotels are 100% amazing. However, the Indigo in Edinburgh is the opposite, 3 room changes in 2 days, staff unhelpful and not bothered. The rooms need updating or a lot of maintenance, NO air conditioning and the cleanliness of the the rooms are appalling (dirty stumped out cigarette under the bed and dust and food particles everywhere!) My only advice is hold off your trip to Edinburgh until they open the ne... Read more

Comfortable, and cool. Loved this place. The standard double was spacious with a huge bathroom and walk-in shower. Everything was great in that regard. The bar is small, the staff are friendly. The full Scotish was delicious and the coffee was good. No complaints from me :)

This is a hotel with very modern decor set in old Victorian mews so expect the layout to like a rabbit warren and prepare to be confused. Overall I would gave rated it as very good because the rooms are well equipped and comfortable and the staff friendly. But my heating was hopeless and had to supplemented by a portable electric panel heater which of course doesn't work when you are out of the room. This isn't what I expect from this brand and the weather wasn't particularly cold - I would wa... Read more

This is a great hotel part of IHG chain. It is located in York Place near restaurants and pubs. Staff is friendly, breakfast is standard yet good, mini bar water and soda are complimentary. Wifi is free but they offer vouchers for 200mb, this is the only downside. Anyway definitely I would book again when returning to Edinburgh.

The Indigo Hotel is a lovely central accommodation that is within walking distance from Princes Street. We parked in the Omni Q car park which was mentioned on their website as they can give you discounted rate during your stay for 24 hours. Just give your token to the receptionist and they can add the discount. Unfortunately the parking at the NCP St. James is all closed so your best bet the is the Omni Q. Check-in was a breeze with the receptionist kindly directing us to our room 215 which wa... Read more

In the West End, so good location, only neg is no parking, but I parked in the Omni Centre MS car park, £13 overnight. Great room, pretty big, split into two areas, bed etc, and a sitting/ dressing area. great bathroom/shower. Had a couple of drinks in the smallish bar, good selection of drinks. Breakfast was ok, table service, but fried breakfast was only 1 of everything, looked a bit lost on the plate? Good location, good price, good stay, and probably cheaper than the Premier Inn across the... Read more

This boutique hotel consisting of a number of Georgian houses joined together is a real find for staying be it business or pleasure. Loacted at the end of the Tram line down town and within walking distance of Princess Street and the Royal Mile you cant go wrong. The staff are fantastic very friendly and helpful. The rooms are modern and are well laid out in a modern manner which reflects the boutique feel. Breakfast is great but dinner is more limited in selection. Highly recommend thi... Read more

OK, first up I should say I am a big fan of Hotel Indigo in Hong Kong - love it! So, perhaps I was expecting something similar when I booked for a (personally) very special trip to Edinburgh last June. Sadly, not even remotely in the same class as Hong Kong. Sigh. Will never book on the basis of this brand alone, again. Stayed with another brand in Dublin in October. The room was stuffy, crowded with furniture that did not seem to belong together, and frankly, had not been cleaned properly. ... Read more

Hotel is conveniatly located for for shopping, retaraunts and theater, because of the current building work being carried out near the hotel the rood outside can be busy. Breakfast is good served in a resonable time. Becausec the hotel has been open for several years, our room although clean was in need of some TLC. I would recommend you give the bar a miss, it lacks decent relaxing seating and any form of atmosphere, instead take a trip down to the Conan Doyle 2 minutes down the road.

Not my first visit to the hotel, but my most disappointing one. The internet wasn't working for a number of days. I understand it being down once in a while, but in this day and age it should be fixed within a day. Also avoid the rooms in the lower ground floor. Noisy during late and early hours with doors banging.

Location is excellent - unless you have a car, as parking in central Edinburgh is generally a nightmare. We had 3 rooms which were reached through a series of long narrow corridors and stairs, passing a couple of buckets collecting water dripping from the roof. Rooms 109,110 and 111 were together in what seemed like a separate wing. All 3 rooms lacked proper heating - there were cold blasts of air coming through the secondary glazed windows and we each had to get warm air heaters from reception.... Read more

Arrived at this hotel to a very warm, professional and friendly welcome from Hayley. They like to inspect the rooms before you take occupancy so we offered a drinks voucher while we waited (only 15 mins) the barman/ Waiter Shamil, again was excellent and when we arrived in our room, we were extremely pleasantly surprised. Admittedly It was an upgraded "superior" room but very well appointed and well equipped- there is even fresh milk in the fridge and obviously team and coffee making facilities.... Read more

Recently stayed here for 2 nights for anniversary/birthday trip in Edinburgh and the service was excellent from start to finish. I was impressed with the phone call I received a week before the trip to go through some preferences/points I made on booking and received another call a day or so before to confirm our ETA. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to receive an upgrade to a Superior bedroom. Our room was spacious and fitted out with modern, boutique furnishings and to a high standa... Read more

We recently stayed at Hotel Indigo for a night. Our room was on the top floor and was gorgeous. There was a separate sitting area and huge walk in shower. The bed was very comfy and there was a complimentary mini bar (soft drinks and fresh milk). The hotel is located within a few minutes walk of the main tourist and shopping areas. Would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to return soon.

We stayed here last year and had a wonderful stay so much that we booked to come back however a lesson learned is you shouldn't expect things to be as good as they were the time before. The hotel is still beautiful but the staff dropped the ball several times with service. The highlights are the rooms are lovely decorated, the complimentary minibar (soft drink and snacks) is a nice touch and the bed is very comfortable however the bar/ lounge wasn't so good. We were told they've stopped serving ... Read more
