We were delighted to find that the hotel was only minutes away from where the tram from the airport stopped. You can get a return ticket for £8.50 . The staff at the hotel were so helpful and made our stay very enjoyable. The breakfasts were good , certainly very filling. Its location made it easy to access all the main sites . We were only minutes away from a wide range of restaurants . Would certainly stay there again .

Terrible hotel. Unhelpful staff, extremely small rooms, bed was the most uncomfortable experience I've had would have been better out on the pavement. Draught coming through the window which made the room freezing!! And not to mention the overwhelming smell of CHEAP bleach that seemed to stem from our TINY bathroom! Oh and breakfast... Apple juice tastes like water.. Eggs were disgusting. Avoid at all costs.

Stayed for one night, well located hotel and good service and staff, standard HI layout and formula for the rooms althogh the bar and restaurant areas are a bit more interesting than usual due to the age of the building.

Great location, walking distance to Edinburgh Castle, the royal mile and lots of shopping/restaurants. If you are driving there, you probably want to call ahead and make sure there is a place to park since there are limited spaces at the hotel. Otherwise you have to pay to park somewhere like a metered spot or a parking garage. Pretty nice hotel, looks like it's hasn't been renovated in a while but fairly modern. For being on a busy street it was really quiet inside. Breakfast was nice, good sel... Read more

We have used this hotel on numerous occasions as it is in a perfect location for the Edinburgh Playhouse and very close to the city centre. Rooms are comfortable and if you are on the front of the hotel it is surprisingly quiet considering the amount of traffic using the roads adjacent to it. Breakfast is excellent and there have been some good improvements made to the choice and quality offered. The only issue which has always been prevalent on our visits is having to fight your way through ... Read more

Great location, close to Tram and Train Station. Good facilities and within walking distance of major sights. Be warned, though they advertise laundry services on their site, it is sent out service and you should allow at least 2 days for return even if you turn it in the morning as they advise. The staff are wonderful!

Stayed at the hotel for a night with friends in December. The location is great, near the theatre and main shopping area, also the castle etc. Walking distance from the railway station. It is spotless and the rooms are usual holiday inn but the reception and bar are a bit more upmarket. Breakfast is fine. Planning to go back in April when going to a concert. That in itself says how much we enjoyed it.

We went to Edinburgh for the New Year, staying at the Holiday Inn was a very good anchor point. Lovely friendly and helpful staff nothing was any bother. We were near to local all amenities, buses trains, shops, places for eating. If you don't mind walking there's lots to do lots to see the old town is exceptional and worth a visit.

Location is excellent , staff very helpful , rooms adequate ,only down sides are the house keeping and the breakfast experience . On the house keeping there seemed to be a total reluctance to re stock items such as toilet rolls, shower gel , tissues , coffee and I think with the hotel appearing to be full constantly , the staff are under so much pressure time was to get rooms ready that not much care is being taken . The breakfast was much the same for the staff , constantly under pressure so ... Read more
