Stayed here for a long weekend. The hotel was lovely and clean the room was nice a spacious and the location was good, 2min walk to the grass market. The people at reception were very helpful and friendly but when we went for breakfast the first morning the staff were so unfriendly and gave us the impression that we weren't wanted. One of the girls had to ask the manager could we have breakfast there even tho we were told the night before it was no problem. If they had shortage of space I would sa... Read more

The hotel is near to the castle and you can reach everything neccessary by foot. Unfortunately it does not have any parking facilities but you can load and unload your car in front of it. There is a car park 500 meters away for 15 pounds per day. You can have breakfast for 8 Pounds if you book it one day in advance. Compared to having breakfast outside this is a fair price. The food quality is OK, but I personally dislike scramble eggs that come from a tetra pak or from an instant powder. There ... Read more

We stayed at the Edinburgh City Hotel for 4 nights. The hotel was comfortable & impeccably clean. Staff were welcoming, friendly & helpful. Breakfast was filling & well cooked, & there was a large choice. We ate in the restaurant on the first night, taking advantage of the early diner menu - 3 courses for £15. Choice was good & the food was gorgeous. Our room was comfortable & nicely furnished. Really can't fault this establishment & we would definitely stay again.

This hotel has a great mix of just what's needed. The staff were very helpful, and even had a good number of rooms ready for us [group travel] despite a really early arrival time. The rooms are large and comfy. The bath room itself is likewise large, but the tub itself in our room was a bit narrow, though this was by no means a problem, just a note. The hotel itself offers a lovely pool, hot tub and sauna, which while I didn't use them, others with me said were quite nice. Wifi is good, and t... Read more

Good hotel. Very clean. Friendly staff. Room on small side but fine for a short stay. Very handy for Edinburgh international conference centre. The bed was one of the most comfortable that I have slept in.

Modern rooms in stone building originally a hospital. Bit of a walk to Royal Mile, Castle and Resto's but do-able. Cab to Royal Mile for £6, walk back downhill. Breakfast good for £8 if you book night before. Also near large green space and University.

we stayed in this hotel last weekend, we arrived Friday night the receptionist had the personality of a peanut there were two people on the guy was fine and polite but the girl was just simply rude If Edinburgh was not full that weekend I most definately would have gone elsewhere...The room was modern enough had tea and coffee services. I dont know about other people but I love to have clean sheets put on my bed when I stay in a hotel I know this is prob crazy I dont do this at home but its my t... Read more

Thankfully we were able to park in the main lot outside of the hotel. Close by & within walking distance to the Grassmarket for some great restaurants. Our room was huge, clean, and very happy with it. Also nice that it was quiet! The staff we encountered when we checked in were welcoming and very helpful. While going in & out throughout the day, they did acknowledge you, but I did not expect them to stop what they were doing to try and chat every time, especially when I was in a rush so I did n... Room was large and comfortable. Location is close to Edinburgh castle and Grass Market area for shops and places to eat. We were only there for one night, but would return again in the future. Good value for the money.

Stayed in this hotel for two nights and it was fine, but nothing special. I did not appreciate the way there was spikes on the window sill, presumably to keep the birds away. Our bedroom window didn't even open so I don't see the point of the spikes. The staff were lovely and our room was very clean. But outside was a bit shabby. The location was good, it was close to city centre and was a quiet area. If it wasn't for the spikes on the window sill I would have given this place 4 out of 5 so if s... Read more

I stayed here for four nights on a business trip in April. I would stay again. It's a fair walk from the city center and the university, but certainly walkable. The bar is tiny and mostly empty; the breakfast was good, and the staff helpful. There is no lift; I had a room under the eaves on the top floor and I'm glad that I didn't have any luggage to speak of, but the room itself was comfortable and pleasant.

Stayed in February this year. Lovely hotel- modern, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Location was perfect for sightseeing all the touristy bits but did require a bit of a walk to most things but this didn't bother us! Would highly recommend :)

The hotel is very comfortable - beds were comfortable and rooms were clean - good bathroom with shower. The staff were all very friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was quite good with a varied selection. Location was excellent - in walking distance of Edinburgh Castle, Royal Mile, Princes Street, National Museum of Scotland, Grassmarket area as well as bus stops.

My mum, sister and I stayed at this hotel for 4 days, June 14-18/16. The room was very nice, clean and spacious. We had not sound travel from any other rooms, and none from the elevator, which we were right beside. The shower was really good water pressure, and the bathroom was very updated. I would recommend they add a towel rack, as there is really nowhere to hang your wet towels to dry, and no storage to speak of. We had wished that there was the opportunity to rent a movie after long days of... Read more

I stay at this hotel regularly with a large group of visitors from the United States. From the moment you walk through the door to a very warm welcome from Milo and Roberto and Derek at reception, you know you are going to have a very enjoyable and comfortable stay. The efficiency of check in, even for our large group is excellent and everyone was in their room within 5 minutes of arriving, Sunny Verma the charming hotel manager has a superb team of staff, I fear if I name everyone I may mis-spe... The hotel was very beautiful. The room was very spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The staff was pretty friendly. We had the continental breakfast but were unable to eat it as we were out of the hotel by that time. The location was great! You could walk to the city center in about 15 minutes. My friend and I decided the bus 35 was a better route. It is really the only bus you need to know! We arrived from the airport and took the bus 35 toward Ocean for £1.60. It stops at the corner.... We were traveling with a group and check-in was efficient and the staff was very helpful any time that I had a question. I felt safe when out walking and it was a good location. The rooms were comfortable. (We had a room with two singles.) All areas were clean and the breakfast was a great way to start our days.

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel. The room for the first night was not as we had expected and was not the same as the online photos. An email had been sent 2 weeks before before asking for a king-size bed but was not answered. First night was spent in a small room with a very small double bed which was advertised on the Expedia website as a "Standard Double Room for Single Use". The bathroom was also very small. The hotel was fully booked that night so we could not change rooms. After complain... Read more

Lovely receptionist (young, blonde hair) helped us split the bill, which we were grateful for. Very good service. Comfortable large room. Only complaint would be that it was stuffy, and we couldn't open the windows. Other than that, it was a very comfortable stay, clean and well looked after, and we would happily stay again. Good value on a deal.

Myself and my new wife visited the hotel for 2 nights just after our wedding. We arrived to a warm welcome at check in time. We were asked what we would be doing on our stay and explained that we were out looking at tourist things and relaxing as it was our honeymoon. We put our bags in the room which was lovely and headed out. We returned 3 hours later to a lovely note from reception saying they had left us a lovely hamper to enjoy while on our honeymoon. The room was a good size we were only u... Read more

Had a fantastic stay at the Edinburgh City hotel with my husband. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. Upon arrival we were checked in very promptly and efficiently and advised to the nearest car park we went to park the car (the hotel give 20% discount to the price of using the car park). On our return the staff had very kindly left us chocolate and wine in our room which was very kind. The bed was so comfy I wanted to take it home. Everything was honestly excellent and the r... Just returned from an overnight stay at the hotel and within walking distance to the city (both Princes Street and Grassmarket). The bedroom that we stayed in was modern and even though compact we still enjoyed our stay. The room had everything we needed. There was a good choice at breakfast. The hotel bar is a little small but most people will be out exploring the city, so not a major problem. I would stay at this hotel again.

I really enjoyed the stay at this small hotel. Rooms were large and bed was very comfortable, large with soft bedding which made it perfect. Staff was excellent, ready to help with everything we asked for. Breakfast was very good indeed (the Scottish one). Quick access to old town or Princess street with frequent bus service, close to the EICC where conferences are held and a very reasonable price relative to other establishment in the area.

We had a wonderful time at the hotel. There was a variety of items for breakfast every morning. Which included hot and cold items along with lots of fresh fruit. The room we booked was for 4 people and had a king size bed, a roll out and a pull out couch. Even with all that furniture there was still plenty of room for all of us. We were welcomed and given tips and a map on things to do while in the city. Even though it is not located near the mile. It is only a short 5 to 10 minute walk... Read more

Stayed for 2 nights - needed sat nav to find but once we did we found it very comfortable. Fairly central but a few walks needed to get to main attractions- friendly staff and breakfast was excellent- parking limited and entering round the back seemed odd but rooms were tidy and bed very comfortable- all in all would recommend and would stay again
